Rofl, this reminds me of early crazy strats i read somewhere, when i played vs pc in ~2000. like building some archons and shield batteries, so archons can recharge and never die. xD
I feel like this information was out of date even at the time. The firebat rush was only viable in vanilla SC, after all, because the dark archon just hard counters it. So it really has no place in a BW guide.

Thanks for sharing. I smiled.
My question, however, would be: Did you actually by that thing? If so, when did you by it and how much did you pay?
I have absolutely no recollection of buying it, though I do faintly recall owning it. I probably bought it some 12 years ago. Actually I think it came with the battle chest if I remember correctly.

You remember correctly, my good zerg! It is ironic that I was just looking at this great masterpiece last night. It has stayed on my bookshelf ever since I got it! I wonder how much I can sell it for on EBay...
[1] The Stove is not included with Prima's Official Strategy Guide. To acquire this wonderful stove I direct you here. + Show Spoiler +
Become a member of The National Scout Fleet! Enlist today and break the record of 13 Kills in a single battle!
Try to attack a Terran Command Center early on to open door for Infestation. You'll need a Queen for this, though, so don't risk any units until you're ready.
OMG! Where was this book when I needed it!? LOL and the plague on the mass supply depots is actually really good lol, you drop a few lings, plague supply depots and Terran will be hugely supply blocked XD

wut? isn't that illegal for a bw veteran? I remember alot of games where there were plagues on buildings, and even one where a zerg (I think it was Zero or Jaedong) plagued his own hatchery at the 7.5 o'clock natural by mistake because the terran was pushing him hard.

Next you will be telling me that you didn't know hydralisks did 50% damage to zealots.

explosive damage vs small you are right though, i rarely think about that
Besides that, though, it's not the best guide. I'm pretty sure all its single-player advice is equally useless (if only because "build dudes and a-move" does not fill a book)
I think the only guides I ever bought were for Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES) and Zelda: OOT (N64). Had to get all of those DK coins and heart pieces, ya know.
In the worse case scenario wouldn't OoV just have pulled all his SCVs to huddle around the bunker mass repairing it while he floated all his buildings somewhere else? I don't think he had enough firepower to kill the bunker.

Prima's guides were always better than the others though, at the time.
There's one for the original Starcraft as well - had that too.
Back then Prima guides made you top shit, all the kids would be jealous. I found the original starcraft one too but it's not as funny, it's mostly just tips for beating the single player missions.

Oh yeah! I took them to school too and everyone wanted a read... but since I also took it to the loo... ummm... Ack.
Some of their single player advice was pretty bad too. That Zerg Mission against the UED where you had to kill the Overmind - think they told me to make 24 Mutalisks, 12 Guradians and 12 Devourers? That's a TON of gas, and my Mutas got owned by Valks lmao. Ran out of resources :D. Years later I just massed Hydras. Faceroll ftw
Although, I think they tend to be out of date before a game hits release - especially for any game that might get patches later or ANY multiplayer game.
Campaign or console? They have some good points. But MMOs? Have you seen the guides for that, they're incomprehensible by the time they hit shelves. Unit stats might be correct, but I bet the players have figured out better ways to use them. (Or maybe the Firebats leading the mobile city guarded by upgraded Goliaths simply was too strong for anyone to actually use.)
Scouts, man. That's the way to go. The lack of scouts is one of the many reasons SC2 isn't as good as BW.

That and the Starcraft manual with all the lore and descriptions of units. Also had listed some weird inconsistencies like wraiths needing an upgrade to attack ground.

Or wait... that you can land Terran structures to destroy interceptors!
Though apparently it's illegal in competitive games since it's a bug.
Does StarCraft support "spawning"? It sure does. One StarCraft CD can support up to 8 players. When you install StarCraft on a system, you have the option to install a "spawned" copy of the game, which does not require the CD to join multiplayer games. A spawned copy uses the same CD key as the parent CD, and it can only join games created by the parent. Spawning works over Battle.net, too!
Of course nowadays, it's either F2P or full purchase (usually nothing in between like the above). But yeah, back then, all Blizzard games had easy LAN support (one copy of the game is enough).
Shields Upgrades By far the most useful upgrade for the Protoss, the Plasma Shield upgrade will add to the shield maximum for all units and buildings. Combined with Armor upgrades, you can noticeably increase the lifespan of your units. As such, the Plasma Shield Upgrade should always be researched as early as possible.
Here is a list of units that are NOT affected by Dark Swarm:
Terrans:
Firebats Siege Tanks in Siege Mode (can still inflict splash damage)
Protoss:
Probes Zealots Dark Templar Reavers (can still inflict splash damage) Archons
Zerg:
Drones Zerglings Lurkers (can inflict both direct and splash damage) Ultralisks Broodlings Infested Terrans (can inflict both direct and splash damage)
I remember in a pro game where a player used dark swarm against an army of archons and zealots. Wondered if they changed that in a patch or if the guide is wrong and meant it doesn't prevent archon splash damage (that is, the targeted unit doesn't take damage, but nearby units in dark swarm do?).
The battle.net strategy site for SC1 is a fun read actually. It has lore info too for all the units and abilities.

Technically SC2 sort of has this too (it supports two players). When you log in SC2-I and SC2-II but I think

Archons don't do full damage under swarm, only their splash damage works. i don't think that was ever patched

What's micro? It isn't in the guide so it must not be good! You probably forgot to have the Firebat patrol instead of move to its desired destination.

Holy shit there are a lot of mistakes there.
archons don't do full damage reavers do do full damage probes don't do damage drones don't do damage.
