Dunno why you guys thought Eywa was really credible with such a huge prize pool. Even without the fact that he is a slightly shady poster on TL. It also doesn't help that you said Game and Ace are trustworthy friends -_-

Noone has to believe eywa. in case he would give me 200$ for traveling, i'd travel to LAN place, in case nothing would happen there, i'd have a great trip on that place. I doubt he'd just trolling us

Sorting that out this week, we got an offer to run it along side a Starcraft 2 event... So I'm taking a look into that.

So... despite the cancelling of the open EuroLan (no I'm not dismissing this as something small), there is good news in this post. That LAN will cost a fortune to bring all the players together. I don't know the exact numbers on it, but traveling from the USA to anywhere in Europe besides England is quite a bit of money without the hotel stay or food costs. Having no LAN is his decision to make, unfortunately it's disappointing for a lot of people in this community. Fortunately however, he exponentially raised by his own merit the prize of GC R2 and is going to spend a lot of money on a LAN just to have something amazing for BW. I like how you guys are treating an announcement thread of proportions not seen since TSL2 as if Eywa- just killed each and everyone of your mothers.

Totally unrelated. GC has been the best CL I've played in since WGTCL, and it has money. Of course I'm excited about going to Europe, why the hell wouldn't I be? I'm more excited that I'm going to be able to meet guys I've played hundreds of times competitively, some of those games being in Gambit's Cup. Everyone is bashing Eywa- in this thread, my point is to simply acknowledge the good in the post. Hop off Kiante.

First of all, it should be "every one", not "everyone". Furthermore, if mothers were slaughtered, there would be shoot-outs in the streets, not forum posts. But since we're using "hyperbole", then this is the biggest scandal to hit BroodWar since Ma Jae Yoon's match-fixing scandal. He lied to everyone in every one of his posts.

I really don't understand why an online qualifier wasn't held or is held at least for 1 or 2 remaining spots. 2 players are crossed out. A lot of people who are really good didn't get a chance which is a shame.

of eywa wanted people to be excited maybe he shouldn't have promised tournaments he couldn't follow through on.

and since you're trying to compare to TSL2, how many people got seeded directly into the quarter finals of the TSL2?

Oh....none.

Please, explain this to me.

In my somewhat skeptical inquiry, I asked:

nothing was finalized, so we didn't think to start qualification point systems, Dragon and I were looking at possible players from LA+CA and you claim we're all inactive but this is a huge prize pool and likely some of these inactive people might just take a shot at it (which is what I thought we are promoting anyway, increase popularity in BW?)

Anyway, possible Players:
Assault, Bizzy, Bibiane, Castro, Cute, Deska, Dinot, Dragon, Draw, Gotunk, Handy, ShuttleDance, Terror, Yan... These are only off the top of my head though, I imagine there are a few others who upon realizing the amount of $ for the tour will probably give it a shot.

Also for the Qualifiers, where do we host it(server)? How do we notify the people of that area there is a qualifier? what do we need to get the qualifier approved? [again you say we have no sign ups but you were not clear at all that we can just get started on these things, ie: if I sign up now, I still have to wait for other people to sign up before I can host any qualifiers...? ]

I think all these questions coming out are really good. If people voice all uncertainties and inconsistencies now, it will be much easier to make a fully rounded and satisfactory plan. Keep them coming

It would be great if "inactive" or very casual players would really step up their game for this. It would also be superb if players on the edge, (C+, possibly slightly intermittently practicing players like myself) would push themselves to a higher standard, and get some new faces at the top. I'm certainly going to try to do so, schedule permitting.

Oh, excellent! I'm glad you're taking this approach to the questions.

Has EywaSC procured the funds for the tournament already, or are the numbers in the original post more of a 'rough estimate'?

You've stated that Noise is the primary fundraiser for this project. If the funds are already "locked in" like you've said, why did Noise express concerns about revealing the source of the project's income being jeopardized by copycats following the same business model? That sounds to me like the Hockey Cards haven't been sold yet, but maybe I'm misunderstanding?

I don't see what you're trying to get that or where it says that in his post, obviously, anything can be interpreted and he knows that I don't talk much about my planning, i.e. you didn't hear about this event till I posted it, I try to perfect the product and not the speech. If you get caught up on the speech, then you're likely on the wrong track.

Really? I was on the wrong track?

Of course, yes, I must've been. Geez, how could I have been so skeptical against such an awesome kick-ass event?

What I can tell you is for one practice makes perfect. Consistency makes perfect. Maybe if you run enough tournaments that are successful maybe people will stop second guessing you. I'd suggest partner with ISL make it bigger if you want to "rush" this huge tournament out. I think your better off starting smaller with smaller tournaments and organizing them well and then go international with 40k prize pool.

I wish you all the best luck in your endeavor. You said looking for volunteers or something like that. I'd be happy to help any qualifiers that are online with replays. I'd be unavailable to go into Europe has I have school but just giving you some option.

You might have heard of such things as the Nation War League, Gambit Cup Season 1 and 2? Eywa also hosted several other tournaments if I am not mistaken, which also had prices.
So, what else should he do?

Tbh, the reason I had trust in this, from the moment I've heard it, is simply because of Eywa's name on it.
I think those who have followed his events and read his rulesets clearly notice that what Eywa has once said: the attempt to bring foreign BW to a more professional level, something alot of players sadly lack. Hence it's good someone is taking on this.
But that's also the reason I believe in this event.

Jesus.

Now, really, I think I had a right to have a dose of healthy skepticism. Since you had answered all my questions, I let it go. Some of my friends told me on Skype that they thought it was "bullshit", but I said that I wasn't sure. I told them that while I disagree about Eywa's handling of almost everything, I sincerely hoped the event was a real thing. As it turns out, it's not. It never was.

On October 23 2012 14:54 ninazerg wrote:
Let me just say right now that I really hope this event succeeds. I may have been skeptical about the prize-pool at first (I was like "Who has that kind of money laying around?") but even when some people I know said they thought the prize was fake, I even told them that I hoped that it wasn't fake. I honestly hope that your effort here succeeds, and even though I may have come off as antagonistic before, I apologize. I probably won't be able to come close to qualifying, and won't be able to afford a trip to Europe anytime in the foreseeable future, it's not about me.

Now, this may come as a surprise, but after some time of reflection, I would much rather just put myself out there and take a step towards reconciliation with you. After all, it's a game we both really love playing, and there is such a great community that comes with it, and I have no intention of skirmishing with you on the forums or anywhere again in the future. That's not the way I want to be, and I hope that it's not too late to make peace with you, Eywa-. That being said, forget about the grudge, I don't want it anymore or want to spend another ounce of energy on my own unnecessary negativity.

I sincerely believe that if you focus on the organization of this LAN tour, it will be a big success. Best of luck to you!

I went out of my way to get out of the way so you would have one less vocal critic, and even went so far as to ask Gecko to take a hockey card joke out of a parody magazine that we worked on. You just need to stop this, Eywa. Just stop. Nobody wants any more bullshit explanations. Just come clean and tell everyone the truth, which is that there will not be a LAN.

Also, those stupid showmatches you barely won while we both played random and you cheesed every game on stupid maps are bullshit. Time to end this once and for all.

In light of nina's post, and specifically the quote about you saying the funds are locked in.

What proof do you have that the extra money for GC and the funds to run + prize for this new lan are in existance. are these more funds that are "locked in"

or are they real?

After you've straight up lied to the community I think we're more than justified to be skeptical of any large money promises you are making at this point.

Has EywaSC procured the funds for the tournament already, or are the numbers in the original post more of a 'rough estimate'?

nothing was finalized, so we didn't think to start qualification point systems, Dragon and I were looking at possible players from LA+CA and you claim we're all inactive but this is a huge prize pool and likely some of these inactive people might just take a shot at it (which is what I thought we are promoting anyway, increase popularity in BW?)

"THE FUNDS ARE ALREADY LOCKED IN FOR THE TOURNAMENT"

My God.

Still, I was perplexed by some of the odd wording of some of the posts, so I had to ask:

Well, then I'm confused. Let me explain.

I can see where a lot of people are getting skeptical. Might I suggest something. I've been a caster for about 6 or 7 months now. Many people still do not hear of my name. I'm fine with that.

Don't dodge.

Fact: I lied about the money because I was sure that we would be able to raise it on time. Do you think all credible organizations have stuff at the time of announce? No... You generally work out a plan which is very strong in nature and then roll out aspects simultaneously. Of course, that didn't happen, however, there will be a LAN for those few that I have respect for. When I'm working and I'm asked to travel somewhere on a given date, sometimes equipment doesn't come in till the end of the week... I mean why is that? It's because things are organized simultaneously given that without this aspect, the flow of things are just too rough and things happen later than they generally should.

As for the Grudge Match, I have played about 10 games of brood war in the past 12 months.

In my opinion the thing is that it was supposed to be one of the biggest tournaments nowadays, but ended up in few people Eywa invited to it, not even by their level at all.

Lol eywa' that's completely full of shit. there's literally no way a major company running a tournament at this level of prize pool would announce the prize pool without having all the money guaranteed from sponsors via contracts etc.

do you honestly think TL was like, well i mean I GUESS we'll find a sponsor so lets go ahead and announce the prize pool we think they'll give us for TSL4.

If you want, you can try pointing out why any one of the invites are bad players... Pretty sure you'd get ignored though.
