8/4 JangBi: I will go down in history, SC2 is a brand new start.
Q:How does it feel as the last BW OSL champion A:There hasn't been a protoss who successfully defended his title yet, getting to be this glorious main character myself is just too worth remembering / being proud over. Getting to become a legend in history is really so great, but I won against Fantasy both times to get the championship, I feel really sorry for him.
Q: Did you prepare Carriers for the first match? If not, was it an improvisation based on an advantage? A: It was a cross positions opening, it wasn't an improvisation, I also had strategies for close position, but I didn't have a chance to show it. I also used planned strategies for the rest of the matches.
Q: How did you practice? A: January helped / thought for me alot, since the BW/SC2 format there were alot of difficulties, but there will only be SC2 OSL's from now on, so there isn't much to worry about.
Q: What was the deciding factor of winning this championship? A: Had it been before, I would have alot of burden, but now to me having an mixed format was a good thing. I had less baggage than last season, I played how I wanted when I wanted.
Q: It was also apparent last season that you are completely relaxed on the big stage, how do you manage that? Also what are your plans for the future? A: I started my career alot earlier than Fantasy, and I also got on the finals stage faster, so having an relaxed mentality is natural. I think it's because I have more experience. This time I also want to prove that the last championship wasn't won by luck. OSL is switching to SC2 now, even though I can't right now, but I wish to work and catch up quickly to GSL players in ability.
Q: Last match you were holding your fist at the camera before the opponent GG-ed A: When (my) Dragoon and dt was in the opponent's main I felt the audience's cheering. I had the feeling of winning, and the camera panned to me too, so I gave a pose (laugh)~
Q: As the first protoss 2 time consecutive champion, will you win next season too? A: If we kept playing BW I have confidence, but if we switch to SC2 I have ambition but not enough confidence is a fact, in the future I will try to over come my weaknesses.
Q: How do you feel about the last BW OSL? A: I also was asked this before, BW gave me a dream, it gave me a meaning to exist, its end is very regretful to me. But switching to SC2 is a new beginning, so I also have a new beginning.
Q: Say something to the fans. A: I won these results in the OSL because of these fans, because of everyone's support I got this championship, I really (want) thank everyone.
Thanks for trans. Sad how apparent it is that he's worried about his future as a Khan player, but I know he loved this game enough to give it his all. He played good games and it's nice to see Coach January getting some credit esp. against the fabled SKT coaching staff. Maybe Fantasy got a little nervous too, just like Flash did in the semi.
Sigh, the very last OSL game is a one sided DT-cheese rush on a protoss favored map. Jesus jangbi, I know you want to win, but couldnt you give us a game that is slightly more mannered/exciting?
Very expected from the A-Move cheese race though I suppose...

Playing to win in a finals of one of the last BW OSL tournaments is bad mannered?

What...
Theres also 2 players to the game. Fantasy sure as hell want to win as well.

Nothing like a bit of BW balance whining at the very end!

Fuck that, I don't want BW to end in artificial entertainment, I wanted to see two players doing what they to win like every other BW match ever.

fuck yeah jangbi thank you for denying another osl win for terran. who wouldve thought you would close out with 2 consecutive osl wins when you were slumping so hard only a few years back. You played like the best PvTer that i knew, the guy I saw close to 70% PvT rate when I first came to TL.
This era of Esports was epic and so meaningful. It had gathered a large wonderful community and I am glad I was a part of it! Couldn't have ended any better, love Jangbi!!
Games weren't as exciting as they could have been. Really good scouting by Fantasy all series long but a really stupid mess up in game 1 and stupid risks in game 3 and 4 cost him. Still was fun to watch and it is rather satisfying to see Jangbi win last BW osl.

Seriously. When he's low he's horrible - but when he's on top of his game... wow
I even said only a few months back before his first OSL win he should retire and move to SC2 he looked that bad. I'm glad he overcame whatever mental challenges he was facing to solodify himself as one of the greatest ever.

I'm glad he did it. As a fan, I like to see players being absolutely ruthless and doing whatever it takes to kill their opponent.
Congrats to Jangbi on a well deserved title. He looked better prepared and in better form throughout.
lol Fantasy i believed in you son and you failed. I guess you will be forever in Flash shadow. I can't express my love for Jangbi hope he crushes some people in SC2 too as he did in the last years of BW. Stormcaller Fighting !

Yet the most famous OSL finals of all time is three cheese in a row by a Terran player...
Thanks for the translation. I was expecting it to be longer for some reason, I dont know, I guess I was hoping for more since it would be the last OSL interview but there's only so many questions you can ask.
What's funny and brings a smile to my face is how he's known as the Storm Toss, but he didn't use a single storm in both Finals wins. DT, Carrier, and Reavers instead showed that he was more than just HTs.

I'm so sad to see that our Terrorist failed to become an emperor in the end... I was hoping BW would go out the way it began, with its proper Terran lineage.
Finals were honestly pretty disappointing, seems like it would have been more fitting for Zero Jangbi to have been the last set. But I think in the long run I think the storylines that will be remembered are Jangbi back to back, Fanta losing again, and the Zero Jangbi, specifically game 4 and Carriers speech/breakdown in that.
What I mean by this is exemplified by the guy who got confused about Boxer Yellow. The storyline of the 3x bunker is what remains. Boxer didnt even win that OSL - oov did. Yellow didnt even get top 3 that OSL.
So I doubt that this series will actually be remembered as a pretty strong stomp by Jangbi.
For baseball a lot of people remember the Res Sox being the first to come back against a 3-0 series defecit, specifically against their rival Yankee, to beat their curse and finally win a title. That they actually won the World Series against the Cardinals (I think? see?) is less important.
For the Red Sox the World Series seemed like a mere formality though, and although Jangbi was riding his own comeback, Fantasy did have the perfect OSL going in his favor.
On August 05 2012 01:34 GTR wrote: The consecutive champion question was TL's, but was hella paraphrased
Yeah. The Korean reporter butchered it so it isnt a translation problem.
From memory Jangbi responded, "Of course I want to win another championship. If we were still playing Brood War I'd be confident that I could do it. But because of the switch to StarCraft 2, I don't have the same confidence. My ambition is still unchanged. I may feel less confident but I will overcome that with practice and hard work."
It's really nice to see that after always being the least successful race in broodwar, protoss finally has got a real champion, a final hero. jangbi has achieved something unique, and it becomes even more important, because it was the last broodwar final ever. (sigh...)
and fantasy is a true heir to boxer, at least he seems to like winning silver medals. %)

Feeling burned that your terran buddy had no way to win? That your race was gloriously crushed?

Nope. Wrong, it ended with the correct race. Everything came full circle. From Grr... and Garimto to Jangbi.
I was rooting for Fantasy, but JangBi was easily the crowd favourite and it would have been nice if it went to 5 sets but JangBi just outplayed Fantasy...

When I read this I thought I'd accidentally stumbled into a SC2 thread. :p

If Jangbi said he found the mixed format beneficial (which I'm assuming is because he didn't have to practice for PL with his teammates holding that down), then maybe he's suggesting that SKT still had Fantasy practice for PL?

I'm glad the OSL winner is so skilled at SC2. Even though I rooted for Fantasy, Jangbi is much better in SC2 and is one of the most impressive players overall. It will be good for the game and the leagues if Jangbi can do well.
If you get to see the pre match interviews on stage, where fantasy basically promised a strong performance, a rape even, just look at the body language. It was like watching a penalty taker in football and knowing that he will miss. And to compare, look at jangbi - casual, confident, easygoing. For fantasy the final was lost before they even got into the game.
I don't think it's fitting to see Jangbi win. We saw his renaissance when he started this huge winning streak, lost to jd, then won the Jin Air OSL. That was his "go out with a bang." Jangbi got silver after losing to a guy who threw matches, got silver in the ClubDay MSL when people always remember Stork vs Bisu, had epic storms against Nada, and recovered from being a Pae-Wang. Someone like fantasy, who came second in his very OSL after 3-0ing Bisu, who took Jaedong the distance when everybody and their mamas were predicting 3-0, who beat Jaedong twice in the PL finals, who took flash the distance when Flash was ~4000 KeSPA, who thrashed Stork after some 85% of TLers predicted a stork win, who lost rather poorly to the pinnacle of PvT, and beat Flash 4-0, would fit a little better. /rant
But it would be wrong of me to say Jangbi didn't deserve it. He did. He completely outclassed Fantasy in that last final.

This is actually quite funny: I have watched nukethestars quite a lot and he always refers to Stork vs Bisu @ Clubday as the best PvP bo5 of all time. Instinctively, I just assumed that it was the final.
I feel like a tard: Bisu vs Stork in a completely different Starleague

Stork holds that title forever, sorry, his carrier build was like unsolveable in PvT on the map pool in 2009-2010 till flash figured it out with a fast armory build.

Overall there hasn't been as much young, new talent coming in that could rise to the top. It's been the same guys contesting for titles for a long long time, when you compare to how it was before - I guess that was one symptom of BW's end long before it actually happened.

But, now Blizzard wants to take away the Carrier T_T.

Sad :[.
Honestly I felt like the games could have been a little bit better but Jangbi played too well while Fantasy messed up just a tiny bit more than usual.

I dont think that at all, Jangbi has the biggest wining streak, has legendary storms, have beated the best players Flash and Fantasy in Jin Air OSL when Flash was better at BW, and beat them in 2012 OSL again. On the other hand, protoss has win the first OSL and its really fitting to win the last to end the saga in an epic way, plus no protoss have ever defended his title. So i can say Congrats to Jangbi for ending the era this way, well deserved, best of luck in the future!

Stork vs Fantasy on Dreamliner is an example of Carriers to win the game. and Stork vs Flash in that 3rd place match.
Jangbi vs Fantasy w/carriers is having an advantage and showboating. Except for that 5set which Fantasy threw away like a noob.
lol w/o even watching the game i gotta say that map was MADE for air play (mutas / carriers / waiths / drops).. its even shaped like a plane. My point is using that as an example of a good use of carriers is a little misleading cause the map is sooo bad due to the close by air mains.
