The next dual BW / SC2 tournament, if true, will still have BW matches, and if it fails horribly, theres a chance they get seperate tournaments and/or only BW. Before all this doomsday calling, lets actually wait and see it ourselves. Real talk. I understand if you only watch the very highest level BW but if you enjoy playing the game they'll still be enough streams and comps to follow. I think its silly to stop following BW just because your heros stop playing it, unless they are the only thing you enjoy about the game. A very bad analogy would be; I dont follow Martial Arts anymore since my idol Bruce Lee died. Might not be another martial artist as great as him but im sure the're others you can still enjoy.

Frankly, with the overall terrible quality of games in Proleague (sad maps, no ace matches and no Winners League FTL) and lack of individual leagues the last season, BW has barely been worth watching. It's almost as if the pro teams and organizers deliberately wanted to prepare us for the switch. Their strategy worked quite well, though they almost ruined all their hard work by throwing in such an epic PL final right at the end. Oh well. They can take away the game, but they can never take away the memories.

The SC2 scene has many flaws but the biggest ones are with the game itself. It needs a graphic remake to make it easier to follow as a spectator. They could update the BW graphics as well like Team Fortress 2 did. Also forcing progamers to compete in both games at once will lead to lower quality in both. I can't say anyone in the BW community is excited about this. They're killing a community in front of us. Blizzard baby, Blizzard

That being said while I do love playing SC2 and like watching it thus far the game itself doesn't appeal to me as much, if Heart of the Swarm doesn't change stuff for the better I can see myself drifting away from SC2. Maybe go back to Total Annihilation =P

Last few months I've finally given up and started poker. This is just the nail in the coffin. Haven't been watching many pro games(at least, not live) - except for hyped up matches, and missing half of those. I'm a player, not a spectator...but lack/heavy decline of pro scene will keep killing game's popularity.

Honestly, I do not appreciate the majority of SC2 content. However, I enjoy watching later-stage tournament matches between its best and most recognized players (the pros among pros, the celebrities among celebrities). The level of play and the level of hype is definitely entertaining.

I refuse to believe however, that SC2 will ever kill Broodwar. Though i also refuse to watch anything to do with SC2

Last time i was there and played some 3v3 w friends, it was fairly fun, and we had a good amount of things to talk and laugh about afterwards. The game itself... well, was a good medium, albeit bland.
