I came here to see the Koreans playing BW, and I have seen like 200 games of SC2 and they are not appealing to me, so I just let the stream open in background, I will go back to AoE2 full time, the community still thrives and now there are several experts streaming, so it is a good thing. One more positive thing, no more being awake until 5 or 6 a.m. watching the most impressive RTS out there.

What the hell? If you want to play BW you still can. 100% there will be streams, cups, tournaments. Specially nowdays, when everything gets streamed.

The next dual BW / SC2 tournament, if true, will still have BW matches, and if it fails horribly, theres a chance they get seperate tournaments and/or only BW.

Before all this doomsday calling, lets actually wait and see it ourselves.

Real talk.

I understand if you only watch the very highest level BW but if you enjoy playing the game they'll still be enough streams and comps to follow. I think its silly to stop following BW just because your heros stop playing it, unless they are the only thing you enjoy about the game. A very bad analogy would be; I dont follow Martial Arts anymore since my idol Bruce Lee died. Might not be another martial artist as great as him but im sure the're others you can still enjoy.

By now, I'm not *that* fazed about pro BW disappearing. I'll stay and watch the occasional amateur BW tournament. It's not the same thing as TBLS pushing the game to its limits, but it'll be passable as entertainment on slow days.

Frankly, with the overall terrible quality of games in Proleague (sad maps, no ace matches and no Winners League FTL) and lack of individual leagues the last season, BW has barely been worth watching. It's almost as if the pro teams and organizers deliberately wanted to prepare us for the switch. Their strategy worked quite well, though they almost ruined all their hard work by throwing in such an epic PL final right at the end.

Oh well. They can take away the game, but they can never take away the memories.

Oh dear, this thread is quite depressing really. Anyways, I'll stay because I am a fan of both games, and while I primarily play BW, I think both games are very good games. I know the inevitable comparison between BW and SC2 will pop up, but compared to most RTS games out there, SC2 is still a great game.

I'll probably leave, which saddens me a lot, since BW is one of my favourite things to watch. SC2 may be more accesible for lower level players, but that also makes it less fun to watch on pro level. Also, SC2 balance just sucks and looking at what Blizzard has done last couple of years, I don't see any way they can repair it.

I'll keep watching. Some of the Broodwar players are still my favorite, so im sure they will be interesting and enjoyable to watch, even though its not same as Broodwar.

I don't find SC2 entertaining. So if there is a complete switch then I won't be watching. Makes me sad thinking about the possibility it doesn't seem real.

I'll still follow my favorite pro gamers, to see how they are doing but it won't be like it was back in the day.

No more 4-6am all nighters to watch them play.

hear, hear. Nothing can change how amazing BW has been to follow between 2008-2011. Where we go from here is anyones guess. The SC2 scene has many flaws but the biggest ones are with the game itself. It needs a graphic remake to make it easier to follow as a spectator. They could update the BW graphics as well like Team Fortress 2 did. Also forcing progamers to compete in both games at once will lead to lower quality in both. I can't say anyone in the BW community is excited about this. They're killing a community in front of us. I'll sorely miss it but that doesn't mean I hate SC2, quite the opposite. The next best thing after BW forever is for SC2 to become as good as broodwar.

That being said while I do love playing SC2 and like watching it thus far the game itself doesn't appeal to me as much, if Heart of the Swarm doesn't change stuff for the better I can see myself drifting away from SC2. Maybe go back to Total Annihilation =P

Was switching between unappealing sc2 and look-for-a-game-longer-than-play bw(lag w/ most koreans) for last 2 years.
Last few months I've finally given up and started poker. This is just the nail in the coffin.

Haven't been watching many pro games(at least, not live) - except for hyped up matches, and missing half of those. I'm a player, not a spectator...but lack/heavy decline of pro scene will keep killing game's popularity.

I'll stick around after the switch.

Honestly, I do not appreciate the majority of SC2 content. However, I enjoy watching later-stage tournament matches between its best and most recognized players (the pros among pros, the celebrities among celebrities). The level of play and the level of hype is definitely entertaining.

Given SC2 a try via various tournaments, maybe I'll actually like it when it becomes clear which competition is the best. I think I may have spent enough time caring about teenagers in Korea for awhile though, it'd be tough to welcome a new set of faces.

I'll leave. Brood War > time >>> SC2, simply put.

I don't think i 've missed more than a handful games of Brood War in the past few years (outside of exams.. I skip classes if they clash w Brood War matches). Looks like i ll be having loads more free time in the near future.

I'll stay in the LoL section.

I refuse to believe however, that SC2 will ever kill Broodwar.
Though i also refuse to watch anything to do with SC2

I can identify w this to a good extent

Though, it seems i don't find the whore nearly as charming as you do. Last time i was there and played some 3v3 w friends, it was fairly fun, and we had a good amount of things to talk and laugh about afterwards. The game itself... well, was a good medium, albeit bland.

Bare in mind that sc2 is a new game, and by the time the last expansion comes out it should be as entertaining as BW (we hope). I can imagine a lot of BW fans watching by that time.

Not going to wait for sc2 to get better when other games out there with lan support and a thriving community which gets bigger everyday is always waiting for me with open arms . Sorry blizzard but I feel the calling of me going back to the cs community when cs go is release .
