SK Planet Starcraft Proleague Season 1, for the 3rd round they changed the maps that are in current use. While still following the general theme of each map since R1 and R2, balancing for each race, resource gathering, building placements considerably in ‘Chain Reaction’, ‘Outlier, ‘Electric Circuit’, and other types of changes were made.
Neo Chain Reaction 2.0
Changing its name from ‘Chain Reaction’ to ‘Neo Chain Reaction’, the natural base 8 patches has been reduced to 7 and the space in the front has been increased to have more space for sim city. Also that small hill high ground behind the natural has been cleared so it is easier to land units, also the center bridges of the map have been changed to be the same width for better unit movement.
Neo Outlier 2.1
‘Neo Outlier’ for the 12 o clock spawn position, changed the mineral patches so it is possible to manner pylon and also removed the 500 mineral patch in the main bases. To compensate the natural mineral patches have been increased by one and the 3rd bases near the center have been placed closer to each natural.
Neo Electric Circuit 2.1
In the case of ‘Neo Electric Circuit’, the behind natural’s area another 1500 mineral patch has been added and changed the terrain at the 5 o clock natural entrance so it is easier for Protoss to sim city. Also the center area’s terrain obstacles have been reduced.
Jade 1.1
For ‘Jade’ the 5 o clock natural’s area, fixed the long roundabout gathering pathing, and also changing the 7 o clock’s 3rd gas expansion to gather gas properly.
Sniper Ridge 1.1
On ‘Sniper Ridge’ also changed for better gathering pathing. ‘Ground Zero’ is still the same.
The map records are still continued for the newer version of the maps.

Cool changes. Hopefully they make the maps more balanced so we get fewer mirror matchups. I don't know why they left Ground Zero untouched. Zergs don't win against terran on that map unless you have a period in your id. I mean come on Canata beat Jaedong on that map. Canata!
I especially like the changes for Electric Circuit.. Remembering Flash' push (vs Jaehoon) hugging all the natural terrain in the middle of the map makes me shudder.. It's terribly difficult for P if T can have that much natural blocking during a push, esp in an area as crucial as the middle of the map.

Other noticeable change that is not mentioned is that the space under the natural huge ramp is now build-able.
these changes seem pretty good. outlier looks like it might be a really good map now. I just want to see JUST ONCE a progamer actually mine out the minerals to get to those high ground pods in the center of the map lol
Neo Chain Reaction is a nerf to the really popular 2 base PvZ all-ins that have been dominating the matchup on that map, but we'll see if it really changes much.
Neo Outlier .. I find this one the most interesting. With the center expos being more difficult to attack basically, who will it favor more: Protoss or Zerg? At first I thought it would be really difficult for Zerg in lategame because it is now impossible to attack the center expo, but then I thought about it and Protoss would have a really difficult time taking a second center expo compared to the older version. I really really wanna see some ZvPs on this map now to see how it plays out
I don't see Terran being sent out much more often on Outlier or Chain Reaction, despite the changes.
Neo Electric Circuit can be seen as a buff for PvT and ZvP, both matchups which benefit from more open spaces for engagements. I don't think it'll be a drastic change though. The map will still be quite ZvT favored lol
I wish they had changed Sniper Ridge a bit more, but the balance on that map is acceptable I guess.
I really like the changes on Outlier, moving 3rd closer to the natural is a really nice change. I hope to see that these hills with mineral block will finally be used.
I don't see how the changes to CR are supposed to make a sufficient impact. I personally think they should have gotten rid of the neutral buildings at 6 and 12 that block you from moving directly from the third to the fourth.
well we might see terrans on Outlier now :D wonder if they put tanks on those platforms can they lock completely lock down protoss natural :O anyway hope to see fights over those platforms in the center !

yeah I was wondering why nobody is using the platforms..
I wish they were used for idk, storms ? tanks ? would be cool to see that
Why some swastikas are bad and some are just good. Note position of swastikas. At least our school history how nazis positioned swastika was important as Finland had same kind of swastika for air force but different position (same position as lower picture shows). I know this was a bit off topic but yeh. + Show Spoiler [Showing difference between nazi swasti…] +

yeah. Swastika is like an ancient symbol of sun, or light, If I remember correctly. So dont be paranoic.. not every swastika = nazi -.-

Basically, yes. Neo just means 'new' and I believe they attach those onto the maps if there have been major changes that could change the flow of the game on that map. Changes like a slight geyser movement will not change the flow of the game as opposed to moving an entire expansion. So they attach 'neo' on the front because in a way, it is a new map but it's not different enough that an entirely different name is required.

As mentioned above, i really do like the changes in the "Chain reaction". I do hope that tosses will now try to get the third base quicker.
Also, doesn't terran benefit from buildable terrain underneath the natural?
