"Perfect Terran" XellOs Seo Ji Hoon has decided to officially end his 10-year progaming career.
In a surprising turn of events, Xellos, after a decorated career which included the Olympus OSL title, will be entering the company CJ group as an official employee, instead of continuing as a progaming coach.
=====
Goodbye Xellos Good luck with the next part of your life!
I wonder what he'll be doing at CJ. I hope he finds happiness with whatever he's moving on to. I guess this will also give him more time to become the perfect husband!
This is quite an entertaining documentary with XellOs by National Geographic.
Any fan of XellOs should defiently take the time to watch it. Thank you XellOs for many, many entertaining and epic games. Please stay safe and may you find happyness whever your path may take you.

gl Xellos
Reach is older.
Was it disclosed what kind of position is he taking?
He will be working in the Sports Marketing Department of CJ Group, which includes the administration of the CJ Entus progaming team, as well as other sports that CJ is investing in, such as golf and motor sports.

debut as in televised or just in official matches (prelims and whatnot)? iris and canata were just two names that sprung to mind and they are old as fux T_T;;

T_TTTTTTTTT i am sorry. i think its easy to forget how long some players seem to have been in ace.
Always sad news when any old great quits, but especially sad to see Xellos go learned so much of his replays back in the day. Will be wearing my CJ shirt for the weekend.
Will miss you Xellos! I watched your documentary long before I even followed the SC pro-scene so you always held a special spot in my heart. I'll certainly make it my goal to watch more of your games now

Well, atleast he'll still be working "close" to home Going to miss that -_- face Manner CC in Fantasy's face Tears for his family after Olympus OSL I remember a game vs Yellow[arnc] on Blue Storm I think? Map with the same tileset, and he went SK Terran and demolished Yellow. Atleast, I think thats how it happened. Goodbye DDR/Perfect Terran
I had assumed he retired already when his name wasn't on the CJ Roster list for December. I was hoping he would join the coaching staff. CJ really needs a solid Terran coach.
On December 23 2011 11:55 Milkis wrote: why do you guys talk like it's a bad thing for him?
it's a great move for him, he's working under a major corporation in korea and he has like no education what so ever.
this is also a great move for BW in general, the companies hiring the progamers they had employed is a great precedent
I think we think its a bad thing for him because we are slightly selfish and would rather see him play more bw and own some more people in PL.
Which obviously won't happen anymore considering CJ's depth, but I'm in the same boat as you "hoping" he would've played. Sad, but happy for him staying with CJ considering all he's done for that team. Another player who shall not be named.......could've been in the same situation as Xellos a few years down the line as well if, you know, didn't happen.

Grah! How could you?! Call him Yarnc! Or FAKE Yellow. Or something.
wow really?? finally he retired.. not saying that im happy, kuz im really shitty about this X_X but it was due sooner or later, damn.. GL xellos HWAITIN! the documentary on him was really good, ima watch it 5 more times xD
Although he played a few games last year, with a BO5 this year and the return of Effort, he likely would not see a single game all season unless at the very end if CJ happened to clinch 1st with any games left. So it's either coach or move on, and I can't blame him for moving on. Best of luck!
=[ I started playing SCBW in 2004, this was around the time of his peak iirc. His fpvod (vs silent_control or another terran) was the first time i saw any fpvod and i was so amazed, i think thats what helped my appreciate and really get into bw. Goodbye Mr. Perfect

-_-
Damn.. It's pretty much thanks to NatGeo's documentary on him that I got into starcraft as an esport.
That's probably the best thing that could happen for Xellos. Now he has enjoyed a big part of his life to date as a progamer and he gets to join a jaebeol as a regular employee in a cool department. That's a cool thing. People study like shit to take tests to enter in the jaebeols.

Lol'd freaking hard. Great job.
And goodbye DDR Terran. I didn't start watching BW early, but I still know about your antics. >
Xellos supporting the whole GO team by his own earnings is one of most beautiful things in e-sports history. Good luck Xellos, I have no doubt you'll succeed.

Man, They changed the title and I thought that it was a new annoucement that Bisu was retiring. I was so scared. Until I read it again and it was still Xellos.
I saw the title "The best looking progame..." in the sidebar and clicked for the 12491417 links that would be posted to Nada's Body and/or Hot & Pretty Progamer Girls.
But no, just a retirement thread for Xellos. I suppose perfection would include looks?
Happy that he'll stay professionally involved with CJ as a team, even without becoming coach. Interesting options for other progamers in the future, and good for esports. He's one of the white knights of Starcraft. Hope to see him show himself from behind the scenes, when his team wins something. Not really a loss for the scene at the moment, because of inactivity.
What is with everyone complaining about Bisu retiring. Most Handsome is Obviously NaDa if you don't know this you shouldn't be on TL. I was So afraid NaDa quit esports forever seeing the new thread title D:
Post-gaming employment is a major issue. This is the first time to my knowledge that the sponsoring corporation hired a tired progamer for an official position.
On December 24 2011 04:05 friendbg wrote: are there any other starcraft documentaries like this one?
I believe there is a documentary on SlayersBoxer when he first switched over to SC2. Even if you don't enjoy SC2 it is worth watching (it's in korean but with english subtitles)
Who changed the thread title? In any case, for fun, I just asked a couple of my super kpop fan friends for their opinion (since they know all about this korean stuff and korean looks), and they say Xellos isn't too great looking... But Bisu? Yeah.

But in all seriousness this is sad news...
XellOs and Reach are way better looking than Bisu anyway :D
this sucks though but i already thought he was retired. One of my fav terrans <3
Goodbye and goodluck XellOs, Legends never die! I wonder if he is considering SC2 or not, and what he will do as an employee for CJ, nonetheless , god bless and GL in you're future endeavors!
Without him, we won't have sAviOr (which can be a good thing O_O ), Effort, Movie, Skyhigh, Snow or any of the current CJ (note the CJ, not the OGN Sparkys' crew) roster. I just realized that this guy is like a silent version of Boxer as both of them have made great influence in the world of Esport but one is more vocal.

I call BS on this story. The amount of blasphemy in this thread by Bisu fans is disgusting.
Xellos is S class in looks. Someone find that thread.

He's not retired, but no team wants him. Poor guy, he went to the military way too early which hurt his growth. He's still pretty young by progamer standards.

ruby actually got offered by a team during the draft but he declined because the salary was too low for him
When I saw the title I thought of Reach...you scared me sir!
But it's still very sad that xellOs is leaving the scene...
Funny, I played against a Korean on the NA server with the ID xellOs and he's nearly undefeated but I asked him if he was a progamer and he said no, but maybe it was him?

No, because Zergs would have been getting shit on for the past ~6 years. The scandal was bad but it doesn't erase his indisputable contribution to the evolution of the Zerg metagame. Fuck outta here.
Sad to see XellOs go Wasn't it him that singlehandedly kept CJ alive with his winnings money?

lmao i remember seeing this on tv 1 year before i even knew anything about SC pro scene, that got me so excited back then.
Good luck to XellOs with whatever he may do in the future, I can't help but feel very sad at the moment but. I suppose it is for the best if he is not happy currently.

Come on why on earth would Bisu retire????
Shine finally drove him over the edge? Still sad to see all these old school players start to retire now at least xellos on sports marketing can still be involved with CJ entus so in a way he's still with them.

Damn, I still vividly remember when XellOs was like this new kid on the block.
Those were the days when BoxeR single-handedly lead the TvZ metagame with his 1base play. Around that time another name came up... a guy called NaDa who was like the complete terran.
But this new kid XellOs was rumored to be the perfect terran. His defensive abilites were criticized as his only imperfect trait. His offensive was seen as the best ever. Something only NaDa could keep up with.

ya, at his age and experience, he'll make way more money away from progaming.
Thanks for that video. I had heard of it but never seen it as I am fairly new to the SC scene. Will be good for explaining this phenomenon to those who don't understand it. Good luck XellOs- just as you said - after this you will be a success at anything you try.
xellOs has been one of my absolute favorites ever since I found my way into the Starcraft competitive scene as a fan. Learning that he is retiring is both very sad, and also satisfying - he'll now have the time and effort in whatever future endeavours he has going with CJ. So long XellOs, thank you for the amazing moments of Starcraft you shared with every one of us. GG

Anyways, sad to see him retire but he's playing a while I guess. He's married too. Meh. I guess it's nice he found a job, tho! Makes sense for him to find a job related to what he's doing xD haha (CJ)
I'll miss the perfect terran, he was a huge part of pro starcraft for me, I remember scouring the internet trying to find replays of him to emulate and feeling like I hit the jackpot every time I got a genuine one. His micro and game sense were out of this world.
A legend good luck to him really happy for him he has a smoking hot wife + nice job right now what could possibly go wrong with his perfect life?! He loves starcraftgamers <3
I hope his TLPD pic gets updated, I would like to see a pic of him in his regular/prime era rather than his current pic - the short stint with airforce ace.

i stopped everything i was doing to watch that again. broodwar, how i miss thee.
I knew something was up...couldnt point my finger at what... Now i realise that those faces seen during the match was all ex-GO members! Sadly, CJ lost....not exactly a good welcome....
