While I certainly have sympathy for the BW fans, as the game is most definitely in its final days, I dont really see the point in saying rash things like "ZOMG He's switching games now, no longer a fan, dead to me forever".
He's no Jaedong, who is still commanding a massive salary playing BW, Jaedong himself said that he WILL be making the switch to SC2 once the time is right, and I dont care if Jaedong switched to fucking League of Legends, hes one of my favorite RTS players ever, I will follow him.
Hiya is a great player, but he didnt get picked up, still wants to be a pro gamer, and Starcraft 2 is expanding rapidly.
"i never said i hated him, i just said hes dead to me. i dont care about him anymore"
I hope you arent the image for the majority of BW fans, if so, maybe its a good thing that BW is on its last legs, it will weed out the "fans" like you and leave actual fans.

yeah lmao, im certainly not an actual brood war fan, because i only care about them playing, you know, brood war. if they find brood war financially unviable then thats their choice, but dont expect me to follow them around and pat them on the back when they arent doing the only thing i liked them for in the first place
im sorry i dont have the dumb mentality of following jaedong wherever he goes. i certainly wouldnt be watching him if he decided to take up counter strike or quake, the game doesnt interest me

Kudos to JohnnyPG for being a level headed fan.

I knew it,no respect for players,no respect for teams.
I'm sure you'd be satisfied in just watching 2 perfect(perfect in everything) AI bots playing BW against each other over and over.
well whatever, its not worth arguing strong opinions.

what is so irrational about liking a player only because they play the game you like to watch? i dont care about substitute games, their personality or their purpose in life. is it really THAT hard to understand that someone likes them as a proxy for watching great brood war?

i dont care about who the players are so long as i get to see some good brood war. if thats a lack of respect then fine, i dont care. and yes, i would like to see constant high level play, and if bots are the best fit for that then sure

I do agree with legatus as I do have the same opinion as him, I am fan of these players because they are playing the game i like . Even If they do switch to sc2 , they aren't the same players that I already shared and experience because I no longer share the same opinion like they do .

then try thinking a bit harder. im not hiya's wife, if he didnt play brood war i wouldnt even care that he existed. im not suddenly interested in his personality or life because i like watching his brood war, the same way i didnt really give a fuck about joe pass's lifestyle so long as he kept pumping out good jazz

being emotionally involved in a player's growth is extremely rewarding, because you feel 10 time better when they win, of course you are also going to feel 10 times worse when they lose but hey thats the life of a sports is right?
well I really cannot expect everyone to feel the same way towards the game as I do,but when you are so involved with their growth you tend to understand why they make such life decisions and you can learn to deal with it.

Who is that boxer guy? I dunno, i also faintly remember a guy named nada. Not important to remember tho. I think i saw SC2 by their names once. Well what about July?..... what about July? its an okay month i suppose... if your American there is July 4th which is pretty entertaining sometimes.
I think the point is you were never really a fan of him, you just follow the bw elitism of the top teir because it is what the cool kids are doing. You could easily say you were never a fan and you dont care. No one would be confused with that. But to say someone is dead to you is just silly. But to each his own i suppose. It is just unnecessarily harsh for no real reason at all. You can still like his play post-BW retirement. Instead hes dead to you.

i dont care if they lose so long as they play good broodwar. if they play terrible and still win, id be less happy
i never said i didnt understand his decision. i know why he is doing it, i just have no reason to care for him anymore

no you're just talking shit. im a bw elitist that follows bw because its top tier, simply becaues i was never a fan of the person themselves? get this through your head, I LIKE THEIR PLAY. I DONT CARE ABOUT THEM AS AN INDIVIDUAL. i like brood war and i dont like sc2, does that make me an elitist? if so, fine, ill wear that
it boggles my mind that some people still cant understand what im saying

No Hiya T_T
well, I hope he does continue at one of the games, at least if he switches to SC2 he will add some personality to the korean scene.

such a cruel op title, sashin is not leftover neither is shine nor ruby o.O

Crap. Lucifer my favorite player I stalk could retire. I would literally watch every FOX game and count the times I'd see him.
|
Hmmm, hope it works out for everyone. I'll miss Hiya in BW...he is still a great player...
And lol at the lack of reading comprehension in this thread >.>...

well thats what they are, they have been left over to decide their fate.

I pretty much agree with Legatus Lanius. I LOVED July, but ever since he switched to SC2 I don't follow him any more because I can't stand watching SC2 and don't care about it at all. Switching to SC2 is essentially just retiring to me (it's basically what poker used to be for BW pros to retire to), and I really hope hiya doesn't follow that path.
