First, JD/Bisu/Fantasy/Jangbi to Blizzcon, and now this. The news just keep on coming

and yet we still don't know the details behind that 8th BW team :[

SC2 in Proleague would be interesting though. I could see it bridging the gap between BW and SC2 fans in Korea, maybe.

Yes. I have a feeling the current korean SC2 teams are about to be sacrificed at the altar, though.

Nah, they will just play in the new SC2 PL but under a different name/sponsor. That's how some of the current SF PL pro-teams were formed, by taking over existing clan/non-sponsored teams.

Are you sure the kespa teams wouldn't just take over entirely? It'd be weird to see IM become KT for proleague, but remain IM for GSTL.

That could happen but it's unlikely. At the very least the better players will keep their jobs.

This is such exciting news! I really hope they go through with it, even with all the Kespa/Blizzard hatred in the past.

What? Current teams being sacrificed on the altar? Having to change names? I am not familiar with BW/SC2/eSports in Korea, but how is that a good thing?

so do you people honestly expect that bw will exist 10 more years? i mean it must happen sooner or later that everyone will play newer game

bleh. before OSL i didn't really care if BW ever died but after Jangbi vs Fantasy... I want BW to stay forever.

What is wrong with you people?
If this came true it would be 2 great games coexisting with each other and introducing themselves to a new public.
BW could get a influx of new sc2 fans that never watched BW and that means more sponsors and sc2 would get more spotlight in the Korean scene.
This news is the complete opposite of one game dying or players switching over.

thank you
im wondering why "villageidiot" is still alive here oO

I hope this is similar to how SF is a part of PL. I still don't understand why blizzard is negotiating with Kespa. the only people who care about Kespa are Koreans, and they all hate it. It seem like a bad move to tie SC2 to that organization.

Errr......?

If they truly hated KeSPA then it won't exist today. No one would have supported/watched the leagues, meaning the approval rate for KeSPA would have gone downwards, and fast.

Isn't "dogspa" a symbol for everything that is wrong with esports in Korea? It's not enough for people to not watch, but I thought it was nearly universally disliked there.

This would actually be pretty sick. It might actually get me following a tournament/league more than just wanting to know who wins the quarter/semi's and finals.

This means nothing to me if it isn't casted in English so the rest of the world can enjoy. I can't stand the way that the establishment BW channels ignore foreigners as if we mean nothing.

This is why I prefer GOM.

Here are my concerned thoughts about it.

The whole thing looks like a way to force a transition to sc2, which is going to be a really "take it or leave it" kind of offer, cause say some sponsors might not find SC2 attractive and just force the teams to disband. The situation is really complicated and I have no idea how this is going to work out, but again it all seems like a way to force the BW competition to SC2, doesn't matter if Flash and Bisu want to switch to SC2 now or in 5 years if they get payed 250k yearly to do it now and play it on TV as they used to do with BW.

Yeah. I'm getting really anxious about the 8th team that's supposed to form. I haven't seen any more news on it so far.

On topic: as long as SC2 and BW can coexist side by side, I'm fine with this.

Like I said, if it was nearly universally disliked in Korea, even at this moment, people will flip out on the community forums with such news (speculation about SC2 has been going around for a while).

General statement nowadays: KeSPA where's our new Proleague season?

Wow, this is the biggest piece of news since the beginning of SC2 regarding its future. This is definitely really exciting. I don't want GSL to go though, I like to watch it.
