I think blizzard wants them away isolated so they can convince them to switch to starcraft 2 and to get them to think highly of it so they can bring that back to korea and help change public perception.

Clearly Blizzard has little clue as to why they play BW then. They love this game. They're the best at this game. They poured years of hard work and suffering to be the best, and this game is where their dreams lie. Like Bisu would ever switch before he won an OSL. They make a shit ton of money playing this game. This game is their passion and their life and one Blizzcon is not going to change that, and I think it's pathetic for Blizzard to even try, IF that's what this is about. If not, then I'm happy for their free vacation to California ^^

To be completely honest with you, I wonder if that is really the case. I remember I heard once in an interview with Nada that he really did not love BW that much after he played it so many years, he just continued because that was his profession. Although you might also say thats why he switched to SC2. I wouldn't be surprised if alot of the current BW players feel the same way.

At their level it is a job, i really doubt that they play for fun nowadays, it is really boring and stressful when you have to play 10+hours / day just to be a pro.
Oh well maybe Flash would still play but he is not normal anyway.
fuck all those elitists brb watching streams of elite players.

After watching this tourney, there is no doubt in my mind that they will not leave Sc1. What a pathetic tourney so far.

I think that any BW player, depending on the time you ask them, will feel some level of apathy regarding the game. If you had asked Jangbi how he felt about BW at the bottom of his slump, he might not have had great things to say about the game or the lifestyle. But ask him now, after the hard work has payed off, I'm sure his passion for it has been revitalized. People all need a little bit of justification for their efforts, lest they start doubting themselves. But my point still stands: all of these players still feel like they have something they desperately want to achieve in this game; their dreams are here. There's a reason Jangbi didn't quit, even when he was considering it. There's a reason Bisu didn't go, "fuck it, I'm switching to SC2 now" the last (238473th) time he got knocked out of the prelims. He wants to taste that gold, and he's not going to leave before that happens. I'm sure Jaedong wants to set new records with his 4th OSL, instead of being just another guy who stopped and quit at 3.

Truthfully, I only got this impression after reading this flash interview. You can just tell he loves this game so much.

Q: Isn’t that boring?
-Even so, I still really enjoy what I do. It’s hard to express in words the joy you get from a win. Especially when the fans cheer for me, that really makes me glad.

Take any hobby you enjoy and turn it into a job and many people would find themselves enjoying that hobby less and less. That's where money comes in as a motivation to keep doing it.
