Keep any SC2 vs BW comments out of this thread. This is a thread about Brood War and Esports (Tekken Crash, Special Forces, etc) in general. If you discuss what this means for ESPORTS be sensitive about it. |

I understand why some ppl are sad but let's face it, it was only a matter of time before scbw gets less and less popular. They've got less money than sc2 (yeah gsl prize pools are huge) and it will continue to evolve that way. I love BW and it's a sad news indeed (if it's confirmed) but it was predictable.
Also, i'm laughing so hard off my a** each time I read "this descision is ruining esport, esport is dead the end of the world is coming". Guyz...oh guyz... SCBW is not the only reason esport leaves anymore. I love love bw dont get me wrong but as good as the game is, it's getting rly rly old and it will dissapear but it was an amaizing run. Time for next starcraft generation Hope it will bring the last bw players to sc2.

MBC Game is not only about BW,it hosts other games tournaments, gaming related shows like B.Net Attack(where the Idea of TL attack originated from),so yeah this decision is hurting Esports, just because it doesn't hurt SC2 doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt Esports.
people need to get their heads out of their asses if they think this is the doing of SC2.

Lolz 70+ pages of content how this will affect eSports and not just BW and a notice(whateveryacallit) Still something like this appears.

first of all, I dont care about how many pages there are. In fact I didnt read all the comments (if you did well congratz). Then, I didnt say anywere that MBC Games = BW and only BW. So plz dont make me tell what I didnt. I just wanted to say that if this channel dissappear it's not the end of the world even if this mean less esport show in general (and less BW content). Ppl here are like "this is the end of esport" when it's not. And finally, about BW, my point was : it's not going to last for 10 moar years, i dont think so. As amaizing as this game is, esport is growing and evolving all around the world, this is not only about korea. And i dont know why ppl are so angry about it. sc2 is like the son of bw and every BW fan should be happy and proud of sc2 sucess.
i'm just sick of those angry "this is ruining esport" nerdz.

What? A temporary success that will evaporate soon like every single other game in the history of Western esports?
Sorry for not sharing your mindless optimism.

That's your opinion, it's not mine, the end. We'll see what the future of starcraft 2 is made of, we'll see indeed... But when you see how many people there are for events such as MLG (and i'm talking about all the ppl who came for sc2), NASL, Dreamhack, GSL amaizing audience stats, etc...I doubt it will evaporate. When you see how jtv (and internet streamings in general) grow just due to starcraft 2 success, i doubt about it.

first off,if you didn't read every page in this thread how can you say that everyone here are like "OMG ESPORTS IS DEAD"?
and yes like I said,it may not be nailing the coffin on Esports as a whole, but it definately is HURTING(do I need to emphasize more?) Esports.
as far as anyone cares,BW only needs to last in Korea and its chances of surviving there are greater than SC2's right now.
sc2 is like the son of bw and every BW fan should be happy and proud of sc2 sucess.
again why did you need to bring SC2 into the discussion,Its already been said that SC2 has nothing to do with it and I hope you understand that.

As much as SC2 is "succeeding" worldwide, the fact that a channel dedicated to e-sports for years has decided to shift content is very alarming for the mainstream future of gaming as a sport. That goes directly into the profitability and feasibility of e-sports (I hate using the term) as a market. Think investors are going gaga over MLG? It's not even televised. The content is incredibly expensive for the everyday viewer.
Tell me if you can still compare the two. Tell me if you can still, honestly believe, that this isn't a giant step backward for the future of e-sports. Tell me that potentially losing a viewership running in the millions won't hinder SC2 and every single game out there.
EDIT: And don't even bring the numbers into the discussion when you don't even know how many people watch the MSL in Korea alone (hint: probably exponentially more than any SC2 event, or even all of them combined).

so, where did i mentionned "everyone is saying that" ? I'm sure everyone is not thinking like that thank god So you're quoting me on smothing i didnt say. and if it was anywere said, I apologize. As i said, i didnt read all the comments but of course, i'm only thinking about some of the comments here.
Then I agree, it's hurting esport that's for sure. and on what are you saying that BW have more chance of surviving than sc2 ? how do you know ? how can you say that ? anyway, we will see.
and i'm sorry but sc2 has somthing to do with the future of esport. we're talking about a channel that was a lot (not only i know) about bw and as you may not noticed, sc2 is the second episode of starcraft. i'm just keeping away any stupid sc2 vs BW not telling one is better than another but keep in mind, sc2 is making esport evolve.

This thread is about a NETWORK in KOREA- not the rest of the world... The Korean scene has pretty much driven the Western world to become eSports savvy... If you honestly believe that a Korean Gaming Network like MBCGame dying off is helping SC2, I have some shiny worthless metal to sell you... Did I mention that it is shiny?
Edit: PS- Earawen, just because you don't directly say something doesn't mean you didn't say it... You are trying to refute the fact that MBCGame could be shut down by saying SC2 is growing and it's popular outside of Korea... How is that NOT a counterproductive statement?
|
there is no point posting in here when all i see is mad ppl, quoting me for what i never said (like mbc games dying is good for sc2. where did I said that ? plz tell me). I'm sad for MBC games, sad news, end of the story. will esport survive in korea and around the world ? we'll see next episode.
EDIT : @Logginurkeyz i'm sorry if I didnt say it correctly, this was not my point and i feel sorry if ppl interpreted it that way.

Losing MBCGame is losing a vital part of the infrastucture for E-sports.
|
Does this mean that Broodwar in South Korea is losing momentum, and Starcraft 2 isn't growing fast enough to fill the void?
