Keep any SC2 vs BW comments out of this thread. This is a thread about Brood War and Esports (Tekken Crash, Special Forces, etc) in general. If you discuss what this means for ESPORTS be sensitive about it. |

This is sad but people need to chill the fuck out. OGN is still around as is KeSPA. People talked about the death of BW when match fixing happened, when SC2 first came out, and when Blizzard started suiting everyone. This definitely sucks but it's not like BW is going to die because of it (at least not yet).
BW is still more popular than SC2 in South Korea so as long as an SC2 scene exists there a BW scene will too.

- WCG drop BW. check - WeMadeFOX rumors about disbanding. check - MBCGame rumors about shutting down. check - Almost no Protosses in later stages of starleagues. check - Yellow retirement. check - Boxer, Nada and July switching to SC2. check

...and no one seems to know if SC2 right now is a bubble or a wave (thinking of a thread on TL) - one year isn't enough to prognosticate anything.
The only alternative is SC2, for fans of RTS e-sports. Not many people are fans of multiple genres of games at once. Speaking of SC2, the game itself sucks - I think most of us are just hoping that the expansions are good. If it weren't for a few progamers who I enjoy watching (one who switched from Woongjin, and a few of his current IM teammates), I wouldn't give a damn. I can watch and enjoy any game between high level A-teamers in BW.

It's a comparison, not an exact representation.
You're not doing a good job of being sympathetic (or helpful) so just stop trying to convince us that there's "other ESPORTS" out there.
We like Brood War. We don't want to stop watching Brood War. How hard is that to understand? If we wanted to watch SC2, CoH, Halo, CoD, whatever, WE WOULD WATCH IT.

That said, there will come a time in the future (maybe 2 years, maybe 20 years) where there's no more BW pro leagues. And when that time comes, you can scream and stomp your feet and squirm all you want - but that's not a very productive use of your time. It's much better to try and seek out similar venues of entertainment! So I simply suggested to try and broaden your spectating horizons, especially targeting those who never gave another esport a chance, for example!
But if nothing else is even remotely your cup of tea and Korean BW is absolutely the only e-sports you're willing to watch... I'm sorry.

This is very unfortunate news for Korean E-sports scene. MBC Game has always a certain possibilities to hold BW tournament and in the future, SC2 and other games. But now they are planning to abandon the possibilities, not only give up BW, but the other games too.
Perhaps, for Kespa this is the chance to prove why they are named Kespa in the first place. Even though the only thing they have been cared about is money, so that they held so many matches of BW and just a little bit of FPS and the other games, but they must find a way to change MBC game's decision.
Also, I fear that most of korean fans already give up hope, because they were failed to change the mind of Kespa when PL finals in Shanghai announced.

It'd be a bit different if both OGN and MBCGame were shutting down but they're not, it's only MBCGame. BW can still live on. There's still the OSL. There's still the SPL. And who knows maybe we can get another Starleague somehow.
But yeah. I understand this so much. I mean I love both BW and SC2, but to compare it to something else I'd compare it a little to MLG and Halo. Halo: Reach came out somewhat recently and it was completely different from the first 3 and I stopped watching Halo cause of it. It's not the same. I don't want to see that, I want to see H1/2/3.
People just don't understand though.

There are more to choose from than ever right now. :D So...are you just trying to be a dick as much as you can or are you actually going to say something worth reading? Also, if you're going to go after someone for using "your," I'm going to call you out for not being able to spell empathize and realize when we have a built in spell check. Sorry that you don't like my opinion! And I hope you realise that my spelling of empathise is perfectly fine, go look it up. Hm, I'll be damned. Glad to see you couldn't resist throwing in that shit-eating grin smiley though. Good work. Also, it's not just me here that doesn't like your opinion man. That's all anyone is trying to say. You're just trying to stir trouble up and the speed at which you're posting back and the tone you take make it obvious. It's posts like yours which create this whole air of fans vs fans and in a topic like this, tt's completely uncalled for. So, throw back whatever smart ass remark you intend to and let's be done with this. Hm, I feel there's some sort of miscommunication here, but as you wish, I'll speak of it no more!
See you guys around, I guess. :/
