Keep any SC2 vs BW comments out of this thread. This is a thread about Brood War and Esports (Tekken Crash, Special Forces, etc) in general. If you discuss what this means for ESPORTS be sensitive about it.

If SC2 is a disappointment I am sorry but your expectations are completely out of this world. That being said I believe in a world where both can coexist just fine and I dont see BW going away anytime soon. It has because of the success of it's predecessor. If it was a random new game, it would never had the same success.

Holding out hope that something else works out to give at least 2 major singles tournaments, and that this doesn't kill the proleague in the process.

But I guess in some sports you have different leagues that have different rules. Not sure what that means though perhaps an RTS that has a modular engine where the visual elements can be easily upgraded without modifying the core game-play. It would also mean the publisher/developer would need an ongoing source of income...who knows...maybe opensource rts? Either way can Broodwar last forever? I just can't see people playing it professionally in 20, 50 years without some sort of development support it's a shame Blizzard can't do something like quake did. ![]() About SC2 is it even shown in Korea in the same way as MSL? Isn't it pretty small time right now. I don't know. I always thought of BW to be something more than just a sport. Something like art. In art it doesn't matter when the score was written and it's played if it is good. (Even better if you do know some historical background..). So I assumed that BW could live forever. Especially with such a famous history and legendary players. Naive, isn't it?

TOday i was in the lab reading this fcuking news, when my friend asked me why I dont play MMO instead and saying BW is boring, no updates, same stuff u see everyday for years, while MMO has updates and is better graphic and all that shit. Then he proceeds to say, go play sc2, much better graphics. I almost flipped out and beat him up...Luckily, I was too sad and engrossed in this thread/news....

We're starting to get off-topic, I'll say this last statement, then I'll stop. I don't wish to discredit BW in the least, it obviously gave SC2 E-Sports a running start, but the push doesn't account for the success of SC2 E-Sports. If BW was the reason SC2 was so popular, it would have died 2 months in and BW would still be #1 in the E-Sports scene. The issue isn't a matter of "SC2 is bad" or "BW is bad". They're just different games. SC2 isn't the game you fell in love with. BW isn't the game I fell in love with. Doesn't mean we have to fight to the death over it.

Why would we play a game because of better graphics? That make no sense. Edit: Ok ok sorry, no hate towards your friend but that's quite harsh from him ![]()

And most people are right. SC2 has a very different feel so provides little comfort to many BW fans.
