Keep any SC2 vs BW comments out of this thread. This is a thread about Brood War and Esports (Tekken Crash, Special Forces, etc) in general. If you discuss what this means for ESPORTS be sensitive about it. |

On July 27 2011 18:05 BLinD-RawR wrote:now the question in my mind is,will anibox take up BW? That would be WEIRD, having GSL and...ASL? on the same channel. It's certainly possible, though. I was more of an OSL guy (because nukethestars was :3) I feel like I missed out now, in a way I haven't really for BW in a long time. Can we have a "MSL memories" thread, with VODs/clips of all the best MSL moments? That's probably the best way to mark the occasion. When's the last MSL game? It should take over the site when it happens, the way the TSL3 promos did back when that was happening. Seeing as MSL beats the shit out of GSL in viewer figures, it wouldn't be much of a stretch though. Oh, of course. I'm sure Anibox would want the rights. It would just be weird. (Not as weird as GOM doing it, though, even though they've done it before). I'm pretty sure someone will take it up, though. There's still tons of money in BW. Who would the best people be to do it? I know BW fans don't like GOM a lot, but they're really good at getting foreigners to watch GSLs, and I think getting more foreigners to watch BW and support it is a fairly rich and undervalued revenue mine.
The Chinese?

My 4000th post in this thread of all threads... *Sadface* Oh well.

It makes us wonder of course because MSL seems to have been cursed with lousy finals/playoffs. What happens if instead of ZvZ finals or TLBS knocking each other out in groupstage, we can have them meet at the end phase of the tournaments instead. Surely the ratings will be better. Will it be enough though?

Its not the ratings, its MBC is restructuring, ratings are still strong.
to a fucking music channel, and they have fucking no chance of getting ratings on a music channel.

It's going to be very damaging to esports (not just BW) if the channel completely dissolves. I don't really care if the brand name "MBCGame" doesn't exist any longer, so long as the channel/team survives in some manner.

I can't believe it...
I hope the players and teams will be alright.

Wow, this is the biggest, and saddest news since I got in to Starcraft pro-scenes. Viewer numbers must have gone down?

Watch it man. I'm as disappointed and as hurt as you are. No reason to go hate on your fellow Starcraft brother, especially not right now with all this happening. The only way we can keep Broodwar alive for as long as possible is if we stick together.

I am sure the ratings are fine. It's just that every sponsor and tv channel wants a TLBS 3-2 4-3 semi/final. So they can have more ad time.

viewer numbers are still very strong, but it seems kpop viewers are stronger or something, otherwise I don't understand why they're doing this.

Still doesn't make sense, the chances of them getting kpop viewers are going to be low, theyl have to match with the other fcking channels such as Mnet

". It's so damn tiring to have to fend off these clueless noobs who have been around for five minutes and already feel like their opinion is worth a damn. Wish they'd all take their single collective IQ point and stick it. Ridiculous. There is not replacement. BW should not and must not die. Couldn't agree more. SC2 is no replacement for BW. If BW dies (please don't!!!) I'm done with eSports.
