Beltway --> Neo Beltway

I honestly don't know many specifics about the maps, so here are the changes sans analysis:

- Center mineral-only expansions changed to normal height instead of higher ground
- These expansions also have 6 mineral patches, instead of 8
- Can't block natural chokes with 1 barracks
- Possible to float an overlord behind the natural mineral lines without being killed
- Temple moved to allow easier muta harass on natural

Just from translating these changes, seems like these differences to made to nerf TvZ on the map. Thoughts?

Yeah they are gonna definitely gonna make it a lot harder for T's for fight zergs on this map.

But it's just the TvT fest map

Defin. better for zerg now.
getting rid of those center high grounds was a great idea to help P and Z too...

but its still going to be a TvT fest...just less so arghh

needs more desert tileset imo

ive always kinda liked beltway, i dont know what kind of effect this will have but im hoping these changes will give us more not TvTs

Other notable changes

- Area behind temple where you can walk units shrunk - likely makes it harder to defend nat choke
- Non build-able ring around the inside of the "beltway" - reduces power of Terran slaw pushes
- More non-walkable high ground near 12/3/6/9 chokes - possibly makes them easier to harass w/ air.

You're right. The changes made is not going to affect the fact that terran is strong here. However, these changes allow for more possibilities of other races to snipe terrans.

With that high ground gone it certainly is gonna be a lot harder for T, but i'm interested to see how non-terran matchups will play on this map now.
also i think you should be able to combine like 5 archons to make a really really shitty oliver stone film - Keanu_Reaver, bw balance genius

I think it's still better for T. Near the end of Proleague a few P/Z were being sent out though maybe cause they had worked it out better, so the TvT fest might end somewhat regardless of these changes.

btw it also appears that they changed the water areas, probably as a result of the Tiny vs Tempest draw game, I don't know if its possible to float buildings over them anymore.

It's a shame that all maps with buildable middles seem to become terran favored, and get removed or altered. It makes Nal_ra's flower style hard to repeat.

To be fair the wraith oriented TvT that this map promoted was some of the best mirror play I have seen in a while.

I'm really not a fan of these changes :3 then again old Beltway was just mass wraith TvT so not a big loss.

Even if it was imbalanced, I really liked the unique look and feel of this map as it was before. TvTs aren't so bad anyway, and there were alot of Protoss coming out on this map too. At least a couple Zergs. Of all the changes they had to make I just don't see why eliminating those hill expansions was necessary, when being mineral-only and very towards the center they were only so useful anyway even to a Terran. Now the center is just boring and flat.
