(Z)Calm: “Next time, I’ll have an amazing game with (T)Fantasy”



STX SouL’s Calm has advanced to the MSL Round of 16 for his fourth consecutive season. Calm, who is used to advancing to the finals, expected that he would have a game with Fantasy and practiced hard for ZvT, but won twice in ZvZs only on the 18th. Calm said, “I think that I will have another game with Fantasy in the future,” and, “Next time, if the chance arises, it would be great if I could play an amazing game with him.”


Q: Your thoughts on advancing to the MSL Round of 16 for the 4th consecutive season in a row?
A: I thought that I would have difficult games today, but since I only played ZvZs, I easily advanced to the Round of 16. I was really lucky. I have a good feeling as usual for this season.

Q: You played only ZvZs twice. You played games where your nickname “Brain Zerg” really fit you.
A: In my first game against (Z)RorO, he couldn’t really grasp what I was aiming for, so I was in an advantageous position. In the winners’ match, my build was good, so if I carried it out thoroughly, then I was in a state where I could win.

Q: Aren’t you disappointed that you couldn’t play a game against (T)Fantasy?

Q: You achieved two wins in ZvZ matchups today, but is there a reason why you were slumping recently?
A: I don’t know the reason. I think it’s because I haven’t been able to do that well lately. In practice, my winning rate is still good.

Q: What are your goals for this MSL and Proleague?
A: My goals and the team’s goals for this season are the same. If we don’t reach 1st place, then no one will be able to remember us. Our team has always been in the upper ranks of Proleague, but most people don’t remember that. This season, I’ll have a more serious mindset and want to win the championship together with my teammates with one united spirit.

Q: You’ll be facing (Z)Hyuk in the Round of 16.
A: (Z)Hyuk has also been playing a lot of ZvZ matchups, so it won’t be easy to win against him. However, I’ll practice hard so that I will win.

Q: Your thoughts on participating in the All-Stars Match?

(Z)Neo.G_Soulkey: “The reason why I’m strong against (T)Fantasy? Endurance”



Woongjin Stars’s Neo.G_Soulkey has defeated Fantasy again 2:0 in the MSL Round of 32. Neo.G_Soulkey won against Fantasy with 2 wins last time in the PDPop MSL Round of 32 and advanced to the Round of 16, and this time even in the ABC Mart MSL he has won against Fantasy with 2 wins and advanced to the Round of 16 once again. Neo.G_Soulkey told us that the reason why he is so strong against Fantasy is that his late-game macro play is a bit stronger than Fantasy’s, and that if he faces a Terran and goes for a long, drawn-out game, then he has confidence that he will not lose against them.


Q: Your thoughts on advancing to the MSL Round of 16 for the second consecutive season in a row?
A: Just like last season, I won against only (T)Fantasy twice and advanced, but for the results to come out like this again makes me feel sorry towards Fantasy.

Q: Your win-loss record against (T)Fantasy has become 6:1.
A: I become confident especially when I face Fantasy, and Fantasy seems to become weaker whenever he faces me.

Q: What do you think is the reason why you’re so strong against (T)Fantasy?
A: Fantasy is good at strategic plays, but whenever he faces me, he seems to go for a macro game. Truthfully, there are many times where I’m weak at strategic-based games, but that seems to be the opposite when Fantasy plays me.

Q: In the winners’ match, you lost after playing aggressively.
A: I attacked (Z)Calm’s Hatchery at his natural, but I didn’t really focus all my attention on the attack. That’s why I lost a lot of Zerglings in vain. There were plenty of timings for me to be able to win, but it’s regrettable that I missed them.

Q: Do you have confidence in your late game macro play against Terrans?
A: I have confidence in late game macro play no matter who I face. I defend against opening game strategies well in practice, but in broadcasted games, I’m quite weak against them. I’ve been working on improving on that part though recently, so I think I’ll be able to do better in the future.

Q: Your ZvT record is quite weak this year.
A: I’m okay in practice, but I haven’t been able to show that skill in broadcasted matches. I’ll do my best to do better in ZvT.

Q: Ever since “TvZ Specialist” (T)Light joined your team, has he been helping your ZvT?
A: I’ve been also getting help from (T)Light hyung, but since our team’s Terrans are too good at TvZ, everyone helps me out whenever I’m practicing for ZvT.

Q: Your goal for this season?
A: My first goal is to get to the Round of 8. I’m only thinking about that, and after that I’ll think about other goals.

Q: You’ll be facing Hite Entus’s (T)Leta, a Terran again in the Round of 16.
A: I’ve lost to him before in the Survivor Tournament. I have many losses to him in my win-loss record against (T)Leta, but I think of this as a chance for me to be able to decrease the disparity in my record against him.

-You advanced simply by beating two Zerg players
▲In the first match, my opponent did not seem to grasp my strategy, so I was able to win easily. The second match, I thought if I play a little more defensively, I would win.

-Many fans were anticipating your match against Fantasy

▲I only lost because I was too newb. I still win games in practice like before.

-You want to win MSL, but do you have any ambition for the team league?
▲My individual goals are the same as my team's goals. If we do not get first place, all other results are meaningless. In the SPL, my team has always stayed among the top teams, but if we don't win first place, no one will remember it. I have great faith in my team and we will continue to work hard.

-You are playing a Zerg again in the Round of 16, Hyuk
▲Hyuk is a ZvZ specialist, so it won't be easy to win, but I think if I prepare well, I can win.

▲Every time I face Fantasy, I have exceptional confidence. I also think that Fantasy becomes a little timid when he faces me, so whenever we meet, I always feel at ease.

-Why are you so strong against Fantasy?
▲Actually when I face players like Fantasy who use a strategic style, I am rather weak, and I am more confident against macro style Terrans. However, whenever Fantasy plays me, he always chooses to use a macro style, so I have won many times.

▲I have confidence in my late game regardless of who I face. When practicing, my early game play isn't bad, but it becomes difficult when I play televised games. -Why is your TvZ record worse compared to last year?
▲ Overall my TvZ skill has improved, but I have not been able to show it during televised games. I will try harder to show a better performance in the future.

▲Light has helped me, but all the Terran players on my team are very good at TvZ. When I prepared for my match, all my teammates helped me.

- Last time you were eliminated by your teammate Zero. what are your goals for this MSL?
