Progaming in Korea Firstly, look at this picture. What do you see? Do you know what’s going on? It’s much like the audience are enjoying a pop star’s concert, right? But actually, they are watching a final match of a pc game: Starcraft. Maybe you are interested in this kind of playing game now. Let me give you some introduction. Starcraft is the best Real Time Strategy (RTS) pc game in the pc game history. It was released in 1998. Since its birth, it attracted innumerable young ppl to devote to it. Because playing Starcraft is full of competition and popularity, matches of starcraft emerged, then, progaming emerged naturally. Progaming is a growing business in Korea. In 1999, there were total 72 broadcasts from all the tourneys and a combined prize money of $1,500,000. In 2004 there were a total of 148 broadcasts and $5,000,000 money on the line. There are more than 200 progamers officially licensed with the KPGA. There are 11 professional gaming teams with official sponsors, which includes. After Starcraft and the progaming scene got popular in Korea, there are now over 60 universities with "gaming" as a major. There are currently 5~6 players earning more than $100,000 per year just from their contracts. To add to that certain players go on television, some have their own businesses (PC bangs mainly), some do commercials, and some win money from tourneys. In fact, some top progamers are more popular than some movie stars, Hard to imagine, right? Let me show you achievements of one of the greatest player: Slayers_’BoxeR’ Because the popularity of progamers, and the charm of Starcraft, maybe the benefit, more and more ppl try to be progamers, including some foreigners and females. Here are some pics of foreign and female progamers. However, to be a progamer requires hard practice, 10 hours’ playing a day for example, and outstanding talents such as physical superiority in hand-eye coordination and dexterity. In fact, progaming is not the special local product of Korea, but in other areas progaming is far from being a lifeful business as in Korea As time is limited, I can just give you the outline of what progaming is. For any questions to be raised, I’m quite willing to give further explanations.

Professional athletes require an immense amount of training and skill to get to their level. To attain this level of physical excellence they must train long and hard. This is similar in becoming a progamer; to achieve this level of skill and expertise, the gamers must train daily, up to 10 hours or more in a single day. This develops and maintains the extreme levels of hand-eye coordination and dexterity the gamers have acquired with this practise. Progaming isn't only existent in Korea, but in other parts of the world culture is not as focused around this phenonema. Thus it is far from being a job you can make a living off safely, unless you have what it takes to beat the budding competition, that numbers in the tens of thousands.

Well, just looking at his first draft gives me the idea that English isn't his first language.
And if all of his other works were of that level of English, it will be weird if all of a sudden he uses perfect english,, the teacher may be suspicious or something
Anyways, it looks great. I see that you used some information I helped you out with .. hope you get an A!.

"see if you're able to speculate"
..............speculation isnt something you can fail at

Its good but your english needs some work. Also dont say "females as well" or what not. There are female pro-gamers in the scene already and writing like that could shun away possible female gamers.

Starcraft is the best Real Time Strategy (RTS) in PC gaming history.
That sounds a bit corny. Its an opinion and opinions are fine but if you are presenting this to your class full of noobs or to your teacher, they might take it as a fact since they might think its been proven somhow. Heh, Iam not an expert but just pointing that out for you.
|
Yea I was thinking of that too Hot77. You should instead write someting like "Starcraft is by many players considered the best strategy game ever made for the PC."
