- Your feelings on getting to the finals? ▲ This is my first finals. Perhaps it’s because I have to play Flash but considering it’s my first time getting to the finals, I’m not that happy (laughs). I am confident I can win though. I hope that the finals match can be very entertaining.
- Did you anticipate that you would win 3:0? ▲ Because the strategies I came prepared with today were so good, I came predicting a 3:0. However, because Kal had a lot of strategic builds today, I wasn’t able to show everything I prepared. I’m a little regretful in that aspect.
- In the first set you started with a disadvantage. ▲ Kal went 1 gate and played off 1 base. It was a strategy I never faced during practice so I was a bit taken aback. However, I tried to think of practices I had in the past and just tried to play out the rest of the game in my own way. Because of this I think I was able to win.
- Even after finding out what Kal’s build actually was, you kept producing zerglings(t/n: Kal played mindgames by pretending to go stargate when he was actually going citadel – he canceled the stargate once EffOrt’s overlord died). ▲ I was scouting with my overlord but because Kal was building his stargate under my direct vision, I was a bit suspicious. However I thought he would be forced to make a lot of zealots anyway to defend against lings. Thinking that if I could decrease his zealot count, I could be at an advantage, I decided to keep producing mass lings. I believe that decision is what gave me set 1’s win.
- Your muta micro in set 2 was amazing. ▲ In general, I felt that my games were playing out smoother than usual and my control was good as well so I played with a comfortable mindset. I think being in a good mood helped me win the games more easily.
- There’s no way we can avoid asking you a question about your Ro16 re-re-re-re-game. ▲ I feel like the Ro16 re-re-re-re-game incident was a turning point for me. After this, my confidence was fully restored. Because of this, I feel like my gameplay is even smoother now. To be honest I’ve received questions about the re-re-re-re-game so many times I don’t know what else there is to say.
- If you were to evaluate your opponent in the finals – Flash? ▲ Lately he’s on a roll and it’s no secret that he’s a very good player. However, Flash is but a progamer, as am I. I believe I can win. I will make sure that I continue to win.
- With Flash you’re behind 1:4 in head to heads. ▲ Although I’m behind, I don’t really pay too much mind to head to head stats. Once I win, I would be getting revenge. Anticipating that I’m going to win, I’m not too concerned with those numbers.
- You’re officially on a 11 game win streak. ▲ I don’t know… honestly, even when I earned a good win streak last time, I didn’t pay too much attention to it. It just came about as I played. This time as well, I’m not going to concern myself with it too much. I noticed when you pay too much attention to numbers, your win streak ends.
- It feels like the EffOrt from 2009 has come back – how do you feel about your zvt? ▲ Recently, I haven’t had the chance to show my zvt skills. Because I’m playing the current best player Flash in the finals, I believe there’s no better opportunity to display my abilities. I’ll also use this finals match as a chance to get revenge for Movie. I’ll show that having a losing streak against terran is not who I really am.
- You haven’t really had much of a past in individual leagues. ▲ I don’t think it’s because I was unlucky. It’s because I wasn’t good enough to advance far into the individual leagues. I don’t blame it on luck. I believe my current qualification for the finals is because I’ve improved as a player, and I’ll work even harder to show an even better EffOrt in the future.
- Most people are probably going to predict Flash to be the winner. ▲ Whether by looking at stats or current momentum, there are going to be many people who expect Flash to win. However, because I haven’t had much chances to show my zvt thus far, I’ll use this as my chance. I will show that I am good at zvt. I want to present a game that will defy current expectations.
- In the finals it’s important to know how to assess situations and to be very strong mentally. ▲ I’ve thought of my own ways to handle the finals once I get there. I’ll work hard to show great games.
- How did you prepare for today’s semi-final match? ▲ In our team, we have the protoss players Snow, Movie, and Nbs. These three players really helped me a lot. I’m incredibly grateful. Even on days off they didn’t rest and helped me practice, so they were of huge help to me. I will buy them something delicious when I get home today.
- Last words you want to say? ▲ Although I did pray after my match, I want to say thank you to God. I also want to say thank you to the fans who came to cheer for me today. I love you my EffOrt fans (laughs). I hope many people will come to support me in the finals.
Q - If you were to evaluate your opponent in the finals – Flash? ▲ Lately he’s on a roll and it’s no secret that he’s a very good player. However, Flash is but a progamer, as am I.

Eh, I don't see what's so inflammatory about this interview. He's pretty confident and that's about it.
shhhhh im trying to make the OSL more fun
aw man you had me all excited for nothing :p
Oh well I like the interview, it's very very good to hear he's confident. I feel like some of the games flash wins his players just give away their advantages because they are so intimitated by his bonjwaness

lol. we'll see very soon if this is true...
actually we already know they are both pro gamers, so yeah it is true
I want to believe, but its just that his record vs. Terran in 2010 is: 4 wins - 11 losses (26.67%)
Doesn't look too hot if you're going up against at-least-70%-in-all-matchups Flash. We just might see the old 2009 Effort make a comeback in the finals. The question is - will it be enough

I don't know if this was a failed attempt at being funny or if you didn't get what he was saying, but suffice it to say that obviously Flash is much more than "just a progamer" and EffOrt will learn that lesson the hard way soon enough.

Just realized that 2 top CJ players will have faced Flash in the OSL finals back to back. Bit of a grudge between Flash/KT and CJ perhaps? (when Flash inevitably stomps Effort) I really don't think Effort can win...however, he is on an 11 game win streak, which I was completely oblivious of. I don't know. Effort definitely has the potential to take 1 or maybe 2 games. He is very creative with fairly good mechanics.

Flash vs Kal would have been the better Final.. but oh well TvZ is always nice to watch. Congrats Effort.. you better start pacticing like hell and show some decent play at the grand finals.. people wanna watch more games so you better not get owned with 3:0..
I'm hoping for the alien to win. It probably won't happen, but he's the first one who doesn't seem scared by Flash's success like everyone else who played him said they were.
You know, even though I cursed Effort for taking out Kal, after reading his answers, I actually want to see if he actually can use the absence of his zvt to surprise Flash and even take him out. His confidence is making me believe he can actually beat Flash but his zvt losing streak was pretty strong so there are doubts. Really looking forward to these finals and see if Flash can take home or see Effort snatch it away.
Effort has nothing but his confidence, and any real chance of putting up a fight can only come from confidence. I actually like Flash's situation, since he only has to practice TvZ now.
The fact that Effort hasn't displayed his ZvT in a while is a double-edged sword for him in my opinion, since Flash has not showcased his vs. Zerg as well recently, as far as I know.
Also, if you, random TLnetter, were to make a bet on this bo5, and your life would depend on picking the winner, who would you go with? + Show Spoiler +
Yeah I thought as much.
Edit: where are my manners, thank you very much for the timely translation Smix!
Good that Effort is confident. It will hurt him even more when he will get rolled in first 2 games like + Show Spoiler +
Free
was.
I hope Flash have enough different strategies prepared for Zerg. It is really important that Flash will come up with fresh builds for MSL if he wants to take down Jaedong (or less likely Calm).
You know, Kal was disgustingly confident like that once, look what happened. It's entertaining to see, but it's kind of a stupid move, especially against Flash. It's important not to fear him, but that only works when you...well, actually don't fear him. This interview only translates to me as "I'm scared as hell of this match, but I'm gonna try to be tough for you guys and pretend I'm confident". I was rooting for him against Kal, but come on, it's Flash. And he only needs to practice one matchup now.
This is really a toss-up for me. I've absoutley LOVED watching Flash dominate everyone for a while. It's really entertaining just watching how simpily AMAZING his gameplay is. But you gotta root for the underdog in a neutral position. EffOrt is an amazing player too and really, all I hope for his amazing games.
Nice, he's a christian , or something along those lines. That's why he does so good. I doubt he could beat Flash though. Flash is just too good. 3-1 incoming from flash.

I was going to say the same thing. Which makes it four finalists in just over a year, which is living proof of CJ's depth. Of course, CJ is 0-3 in those finals, but it would be fitting if their best finalist yet, is the one to take it home.
Unexpected outcome, but Flash must be very happy now that he only has to pratice for 1 mu. An extremely confident Effort can possibly make a good final.
Wow this should be totally awesome. Neo-sAviOr vs Perfection. TvZ. Management vs Management. Eeee I'm so excited. If Jaedong is in the other Final we're in for an amazing finals round.

err.. actually.. i'm gona go with effort on this one. he's right, flash is a progamer just like the rest of 'em. when someone goes on a streak like he has, people get scared and don't play confidently against him. as long as flash doesn't lose his own confidence, he'll continue to do very well.
any progamer has the skill to beat flash. it's like me beating nony or some other foreigner. likely to happen? no. possible? well, ya.
Flash would probably want a third OSL title and a Golden Mouse more than a second MSL title.
Plus OSL finals happens before MSL finals.
Plus EffOrt and Jaedong are both aggressive zerg players. Albeit the latter player is much better during mid-/late-game, but both players ought to play similarly during first several minutes. In terms of variety of play/mind games, Jaedong is ABCDEF, while EffOrt is ABC.
In short:
Split focus for Flash? Yes. Definitely.
50/50 split focus? No. Probably heavily tilted towards beating Effort until OSL is over.

I think he'll be just fine. Would be nice to see him plan a totally different set of builds for both series, like bio for effort and mech for dong (especially after dong's comments the other day).

Wow, 3 finalists in 3 seasons for CJ (not counting GOM because it didn't matter towards your Kespa Rank, making it a "special tournament") I hope 3rd time's the charm.
^ lol. Effort is going to stop Flash and beat him 3:2, and this momentum swinger will be even more of an assistance for Jaedong to take out Flash 3:0 or maybe 3:1.
it this going to be the last OSL, or will more come out after SC2?

Lot of people are underestimating Effort here, or at the very least underestimating CJ.
Last OSL, Movie took a game off Flash on top of taking the early/midgame advantage off of him every game. Frankly, the only reason Movie didn't win that series is that he didn't have the raw skill and execution that it takes to surpass Flash once you have the advantage.
Effort is literally nothing but raw skill and execution. He's a +500apm pseudo-robot with the entire CJ thinktank that nearly beat Flash with Movie's PvT. Effort's ZvT + CJ preparation should have every Flash fan more worried.

God is the best. But he's fickle. One second he gets you into the finals, the next he ridicules you in front of hundreds of thousands of fans, effectively "pulling your pants down". Oh Effort.
effort is showing a very healthy confidence and mindset. if u enter the finals against flash thinking "i, a mere mortal, am facing a god of starcraft", u will get crushed like a bug.
Just fucking lose. Make flash reveal all his builds so that jaedong can rape flash. You suck effort, needing a technical difficulty to advance, sort of like calm and how he needed a faulty map and a distressed great to beat great.
Woohoo second CJ-fellow who' ll have to face Flash in the OSL-finals... Flash is the better player for shure... But he is NOT unbeatable. If EffOrt comes as well prepaired as he was against Kal, keeps his great scouting up and reacts accordingly... Flash may win 80 out of a hundred, but EffOrt will take 3 of those 20 games in his favour and take them to the finals!

Your point is pretty invalid. Around the same time Bisu was destroying everyone as well and no one could argue his spot as best toss, KT couldn't even make the playoffs and people could argue Fantasy was better than Flash. 1 year is a long time in pro starcraft. Just because effort was doing well 1 year ago means shit.
Effort had a stretch of mind numbing dominance against Terran right before the Nate MSL. He was even rumored to consistently defeat Flash in practice, back when Flash was beginning to enter Bonjwa mode.
And then he had this eye brow raising stretch of losing streak against Terran and couldn't get past go.go for 4 rounds.
This series is a good indication that Effort's ZvP is back to his peak form. But can he bring his ZvT back?
I am kinda worried since Skyhigh isn't exactly known for his TvZ as Movie was known for his PvZ. Effort may find it difficult to find the right practice partner.
Not to mention that Flash will face against a Zerg regardless of the outcome in the MSL.

Well, KT doesn't exactly have the best Zerg players for Flash to practice against. Oh wait. Flash doesn't need to practice. Silly me.

I wasn't specifically making the argument that EffOrthas great ZvT because he had it a year ago. Rather, I was making the argument that we shouldn't be skeptical of his current ZvT form, because we know that he is capable of S-class ZvT.
Even in Bisu's current condition, you can't really say "Bisu's PvZ is terrible..." without qualifying it with something like "...right now". If Bisu started dominating again, you wouldn't get away with saying something like that, because Bisu has a history of great PvZ, which his current form can't take away from him.
Same with EffOrt. The kid has some amazing ZvT, and he's re-discovered it at the right time.

After this, my confidence was fully restored. Because of this, I feel like my gameplay is even smoother now. I don't think half the people in this thread were around last summer and the end of the 2009 Proleague season. If they were, we wouldn't be getting all of these people saying things like; "EffOrt's ZvT is abysmal" as if it's conventional wisdom and has always been the case.
EffOrt is a very appropriate calibre of player for a finals.
Except Bisu hasn't gone 2-0 and 3-0 in the OSL round of 8 and round of 4 respectively, and isn't on a tear in the proleague. If that were so, then Bisu's past history of dominance would mean a whole lot in forming people's expectations for the finals.
