hey, do you guys know how to make the fog of war for an SC1 Map..not sc2. Because in Sc2 shows how the map look like in the minimap like its been explored...any1 know how to do that in SCMDraft?

I guess i do. If you look for the Kulas Ravine map for SC1 you will find out what you want, maybe mail the map creator.

Maybe put map revealers everywhere and then remove them as soon as the game starts? Just a guess...

go to fog of war and then it lets you draw what fog of war you want revealed. you dont need map revealers lol

Layer -> Fog of War
or hit ctrl+f which should be the hotkey for both staredit and scmdraft

I always wondered about this too... In some tourneys (certain Chinese tourney reps I've watched), they have letters displayed as fog of war in the middle of the maps o_0

Making / removing map revealers is simple but it wouldn't be effective because 1. it only works in UMS and 2. you would see the enemy base briefly even with hypertriggers i think. regular fog of war is easy and works in melee

hmmm i tried that fog of layer it didnt work...i would try it on lan vs computer but it dont show...

which places do i cover (meaning where are the blacks spots going to be) or do i just leave it all showing

is there any specific thing i should do?

My guess would be to alter player 12 (neutral player), possibly add some revealers or something.

Oh man i remember fucking with the fog of war once. I dont remember doing something with Map revealers on scmdraft

Create map revealers wherever you want the map to explored but fogged, then add a script to destroy the map revealers once the game starts, so the regions you specified are now fogged, but explored.

scmdraft lets you place map revealers everywhere with one button. And then just destroy them at the start of game.

There is also a script command to reveal the entire map, and I think this should work in melee.

Of course all of these ideas would give away your opponent's location...

It actually wont work in mele man, no matter what u do, only in obs version u will be able 2 see what u have revealed.
How 2 do it:
Click on the fog of war layer an start drawing, but look at the number of player ur in.
Ul have 2 draw what u want for all the players except the obs oc.
But if its a 2 player map just draw and revel for players 1 and 2.
If its a 3 player map for players 1,2 and 3
If its a 4 ...
Do it for all the guys that are playing I recommend, but if ur goal is 2 reveal all map so that players know what is going on, then make sure to reveal all except around the mains so that start location and race remain hidden. (Unless ur planing 2 write cov in the middle of the map as a cool logo or something, then also reveal for players 5,6,7,and 8, no + than that.)

U can see examples of this in my maps (2)SpiderMonkey and (2))Pixys wish.

Don't touch the fog of war layer. Removing fog of war for a player is like giving them invulnerable observers there, they will always be able to see everything in the area that they have no fog of war. Creating map revealers so that each player can see everywhere but the start locations and then destroying them instantly is probably the only way to get the effect you want, and it will only work on the UMS game mode.
