I'm posting this because I feel it warrants posting. My team, LighT (aka Pandemic aka eX) is probably the oldest competitive non Korean team besides ToT. The team has been around since 2002 when Green, Star, and Ruby founded it. We've gone through four generations of leaders culminating in me being the leader since the end of 2005 to the present day. However this week I decided to close down the team after 8 glorious years. ToT now stands alone as the oldest team.
Being one of the most difficult decisions I've ever made, and because it marks the end of one of BW's oldest teams I decided to make a public post about it. We never were a really famous team and never had huge superstar players, but throughout the years I feel as if we'd develop a small fan-base (maybe). Anyways, hopefully you'll enjoy this post! The Beginning... [2002-2004] LighT was founded in 2002 by Green, Star, and Ruby. The team was really just a friendly east clan. Shortly after being formed some of the team members started playing on the WGTour ladder (which was pretty damn new at the time and there were very few Americans initially playing on it).
The average skill of team LighT members at the time was around C4 or C3 for the best of them (Future at the time!). *Note: by ICCUP standards that probably equates to D+ and C3 would be C- maybe. As the team grew and people started getting engrossed in the competitive atmosphere of the WGT ladder, Future became the leader (probably by 2003) and the team entered WGTCL for the first time being a lowly Division 4 team.
Some talented players like Raptor, RinoA, and MhX were a part of the team around this time, all three of them along with Future became the core of the team and started working through clanwars and massgaming on the ladder. The skill of the team slowly and steadily increased and LighT was able to climb to Division 3. The Middle Years [2004-2006] In order (probably... I never figured out why this change was made) to focus more on gaming, leadership of the team fell to Hap around the middle of 2004 or so. This is when I first joined the team under the name DreaM[LighT]. The team had finally climbed up to Division 2 of WGTCL for the first time and it was a really exciting experience to start playing really strong teams like 0rk0, CkG, ash, and CDS. The fist season of Division 2 ended up with us going either 1-7 or 0-8 and being demoted back to Division 3.
RinoA and Raptor had become really strong players and left for bigger teams like oG) and SW) (if you remember those teams)... the core of LighT during this time was Future, B_Saint, MhX, Trey, and myself for awhile.
After a period of inactivity due to school, I returned to BW and played with a Norweigan team (NW) for awhile before coming back to LighT. I ended up bringing with me friends from that team - Bandit, SchiSm, and my cousin Sirex (more known recently as eZ). Bandit quickly became one of the leaders of the team and at the time there was a group of three leaders - Bandit, Hap, and Simon, and Amber.
Near the end of 2005 I joined as the 4th leader of the team, mostly by getting side clanwars and organizing other events since the team was really active and one league didn't satisfy all the players. I quickly started getting 4-5 clanwars per weekend and the whole team played the PGT ladder like crazy.
Bandit became a top level foreigner, Raptor rejoined, and newer players like SchiSm and RepeNt started to get really good. By 2006 I became the sole leader of the team as Simon and Hap scaled back their BW playing and Bandit focused more on gaming.
WCG Canada 2006 WCG Canada 2006 was a huge event; it was the first time LighT members would meet in real life under the tag. I decided (in what became a yearly tradition for me) to fly out to Canada for WCG to hang out with my teammates. We had Bandit, Raptor, and Freaky competing in the event. JF was also in LighT around the time of WCG but had joined MgZ right before the event.
One of the biggest moments was when Bandit beat Testie 2-1 in the Group Stage, in some REALLY FUN games. Raptor got 2nd in the event, losing to Testie in the finals and Bandit got 4th, losing to Vasmos in the LB final. Raptor went on to the WCG Grand finals in Monza (although that was disappointing for him).

Me in the LighT hat Modern Era.... [2007-2008] Two awesome years. We finally became a Division 1 team and we ended up getting top 8 in WGT's World Team Cup which was our biggest achievement at the time since over 100 teams participated. We lost to the eventual champions of that, MgZ. We also had climbed up to Division 1 of BWCL after going undefeated through Division 4, 3, and 2. We were the first ever North American team to advance to BWCL Division 1. No other North American team would get that far until NrG in the middle of 2009. Also BW Massacres league started and we were getting top 3 almost every season. In addition I hosted the Yankee League which we got 1st place 2 of the 3 seasons (Media won Season 1).
We were showing that we were the top North American team and able to compete with many international teams, although MYM destroyed us every time and we had yet to face off against ToT.
WCG Canada 2007 WCG Canada came again and we had even more of a presence than before. This year we had CoolTemplar, Bandit, SchiSm (who finally won WCG Montreal by beating the heavy favorite Oldy 4-1 in the WB and Grand Finals), Freaky, and JianG. AeriALs was also there but this was slightly before his time! The event was great, especially because the organizer Stephan had brought me to be the head administrator, which has been one of the biggest honors of my SC career.
The games were also very good, although Testie was totally dominant, not losing a single game. SchiSm got the closest to taking a game off of him that year. Bandit reached the finals after defeating JF in a really intense series in the semi finals... Then, JF lost to CoolTemplar to end up 5th place two years in a row, and SchiSm beat CoolTemplar to face off against Bandit in the LB finals.
That series was really epic because the two had become Canada's top players besides Testie and they were teammates and very good friends. Bandit ended up taking the series 2-1 and went on to get destroyed by Testie in the finals (T_T!).

We own... Freaky, Xeris, Bandit, SchiSm, AeriALs
Sponsorships and Stuff 2008 was when I first started flirting with sponsorships. We joined some random multigaming team called 50 Calibre for a short while. We were briefly sponsored by Starfeeder and Ballerpoker, and then eventually always reverted back to LighT. 2008 was a little bit of a sad year because Hap, Bandit, and SchiSm officially quit the game for good. The end of 2008 also saw AeriALs (who had become a top Canadian player), Shad (a top Polish player), and Louder (who had become a top USA player) leave the team.
However, two more events in the summer of 08 were very awesome for us!
CAN LAN 2009 Since Canada had no WCG that year, TT1 and myself organized the CAN LAN (sponsored by BinaryBeast and Fayth!). We had once again a LOT of players... TT1, AeriALs, Freaky, SchiSm, and myself all particiapted. We all got top 8 at the event. It was one of the best events for me personally because there I was able to take games off both AeriALs and SchiSm, and I nearly beat TT1 in the Ro8 (but he was too good/experienced for me in the end).
Ultimately, JF edged out Oldy in the finals, with AeriALs taking 3rd place and TL's own Chill beating out SchiSm to get 4th. Sadly, nobody really took pics of this T_T!
[pic here]
WCG USA 2008 We had Future and Louder at the event... Future had just come back from being pretty inactive since 2006, and Louder had just come back from being inactive for even longer. Everyone talked shit about them and said they would be free wins... but Louder was able to shock everyone by finishing 3rd and even taking a game off Nony in his insanely dominant form.
It was a really impressive event for Louder and the team! There were many fun happenings those nights.
Psyonic, Future, Louder, eZ (my cousin), Xeris
Me and Future throwin' up the LighT gang sign!
Machine and Louder, they were enemies but became friends as I predicted! Machine was in LighT twice before! The End... [2009-2010] In 2009 we joined up with eXpertise - another multigaming team. This was much more official and legit than our previous experience. 2009 was another strong year as we recovered nicely from losing literally the entire core of our team (SchiSm, Louder, AeriALs, Shad). After years of work, I finally convinced my lovely Gretorp to join, KawaiiRice started showing his potential, and CaStrO came into the picture.
In 2009 we were able to take top 4 in every single team event we participated in. We got 3rd in the WGT CW Tournament in January of 09 (for the top 2008 teams), we were able to get 4th in BWCL, 4th in the e-Sports International... in which we were able to defeat ToT and MYM (aka ESC aka mouz) and had a close loss against Fnatic. We also got 4th in the WGT Titans League (biggest CL ever, with a $1400 prize pool). In the following season of BWCL (most recent one), we finished 3rd... and we narrowly missed out on 4th in the most recent WGTCL season by 1 point.
All in all, it was a great year for the team. It was sad however, our 2v2 expert Tenryu left for Iraq (he is serving in the armed forces) and DeA (his main 2v2 ally) went inactive.
Near the end of 2009 eXpertise fell apart, and I was able to hook up with Pandemic, which has long been known as the other top American team next to EG. It was a great fit.
We were able to send two players (Assem and Gretorp) to IEF in Korea, and KawaiiRice became the youngest WCG USA finalist. Our former USA hero Louder was also able to get 2nd (too bad he had joined EG in May!), and KawaiiRice didn't end up doing too well, but at least he beat Lz (heheeheh!)
Me and Kawaii!
Me and my lover, Gretorp
The Terran Tandem... Gretorp & Kawaii All good things must come to an end however. After 6 years of being in the team, and 5 years leading it.. it has come time to close its doors. Pandemic as an organization has fallen, and life has taken root in the hearts of my teammates. Without enough strong active people to compete at the level we have been accustomed to, I figured it would be best to end the team on a high note, after just finishing 3rd in BWCL rather than revert back to mid-level status.
And so, it is with great sadness, I seriously cried when I came to this decision last weekend, that I say goodbye to team LighT. It has given me some of the happiest moments of my life and kept me going when things got tough. I met some of my best friends here who I still talk to years later. I hope you all will remember my team fondly, and say some nice words - if you have any memories of us, share here!
Lastly, thanks to (all the members I can remember)!
RepeNt - the American wonder Zerg, shame you quit before getting bonjwa good, seriously this kid was beating up on Nony in 2007. Hap - Preston my love <3 ! Shad - Polish potato farmer, the first thing I ever did as the leader of LighT was bring you into the team and I never once regretted my decision AeriALs - Paul I love you, we've known each other since 2005 or 2004, we've practically grown up together. Freaky - we met on the metro in Canada in 2006 and I knew then that you were my brother from another mother Browar - the original Polish potato farmer, dude would show up to clanwars after having drunk 10 beers and still destroyed everyone in 2v2 back in the day Live2Win - DAN! You were there when I first came to LighT and you were always awesome. Tenryu - Dan you were everything this team was and more. I couldn't have ever asked for someone more dedicated. You came to every CW when you were stationed in Japan, staying up all through the night. Horizon & Alastair - the unsung Canadians, I seriously hated you Ala! CoolT - CLAUDEEEE SeasOn - the original Kyle, you carried us with Bandit when we had nobody else. tErrOr - fuck Dave you were so good at 1v1 and 2v2, but your ass did way too many drugs Senator - Joel you were good, I remember spending hours with you figuring out speed shuttle / reaver micro mechanics Devaz - you beat Nony in a Yankee League matchup, and you were insanely good at 2v2. DeA - MALAKA KEFTES BITCHHHHHHCANDY! GoTuNk - the coolest Latin on BW Praetor - fuckin Vampire user yo! Tear - hi ok? You're really inactive right now and never check TL and probably don't know about this. I'm sorry T__T! StRyKeR - I'm sad you joined too late, but you were also everything this team was. Angel - Kyle <3 ! We went through rough patches and I kicked you out of the team 3x but you never gave up and you're gosu now. Stalife - Sung-toss is fuckawesome Simon - I miss you Simon I don't know if you even check TL anymore. Loco & Engage & Kayo - Frenchies! Oldy & JF - you guys were briefly in the team, and super awesome Machine - Bryce, you so bad. B_Saint - you invented CW-mode... that goes without saying Green - You pretty much had quit BW by the time I joined, but you founded this team so I <3 you! Future - Rich you inspired me back in 2005 because of how hard you worked, and you loved this team as much as anyone and have been here since the beginning. You'll be my friend always! Trippy - Jim, nobody really remembered you but I do, you were an awesome zerg! Juan - fuck you Mexican! CaStrO - you're a professional in every sense of the word. Nooks- you were in the team for awhile when you started playing again before quitting again... so fuckin good. Cake - METAL[X] you finally joined after I tried to get you for 1 year, HAHAHA! Skyless - Medo you're fuckin gosu at 2v2 man Sun - YOURE A FUCKING LIAR GOD DAMN! But I still <3 you, lololo. Amber - Tom you pretty much had scaled back BW by the time I joined but you're awesome. JiYan - you did a pretty nice job as my sidekick yo! Raptor - Rayray, keep your head up! ChOseN - you fucking Jehova's witness. It's incredible what you could've been if you weren't so flaky Shawn, but I love you still. Moo & NighT - the old school Korean gosus Sadist - Drew, who woulda known some random guy I asked to join turned out to be Sadist. You've been awesome over the past 3 years man and you didn't even know it!
SchiSm - Ben, you were with me way back when I re-started BW in 2003 / 2002.. from WiN] to FaN_ to NW_ to [LighT]. I can't describe how awesome you were. Bandit - Mitch, aka Gymtoss, you are far removed from this game sadly, but you know we'll always be friends.
TT1 - My fellow Terrorist, I salute you!
Kawaii - I smashed you in 2007 WCG, you got good. You used to piss me off, actually, you still piss me off but I love you all the same. You ain't goin nowhere bitch!
Gretorp - Andre. <3 ! If we were both gay we'd be boyfriends. You're my boo forever.
Louder - Who the fuck would have thought that one day Nooks randomly said "hey let my friend Louder in the team he just started playing after 4 years but he used to be good"... would have turned into this? Our friendship has gone far beyond BW and it's going to probably last forever.
FirebatHero - you were in the team for 3 weeks, goofing off and practicing English, but you were funny as fuck and so damn good at BW. That's it for me folks. I'm still sad but I'll live. LighT will always live on forever anyways!
I still remember back when it was still called Team Light, I went to WCG and met you guys there. I was still pretty much a lurker back then, but I still remember all of you there. Good memories.
I've come to associate Light as one of the top clans in BW, and I think you guys were the first professional clan that I can remember being exposed to... Meh well, I'm getting too sentimental here. Too many memories of personal experience.
Cheers Team Light, and GL to all you guys in the future! Here's to a great clan
PS - FBH was on Light for a while? Interesting piece of trivia
Great post. Wish I would have known this much about you guys beforehand. Sounds like you had a great run - best of luck to all the players in their future endeavors.
Figured this was why Kawaii left. Didn't know you as lighT, but thought you were a cool team as Pandemic nonetheless. Best of wishes for each one's future!
It was a good run, I'm glad I retired with this team .
Duran actually let me on this team because were friends, and not because I was any good(i was terrible when i joined). I wouldn't have been able to grow as a bw player without this team, and I'm always greatful for that .
Stuff like this brings a tear to my eye, because it feels like it's inevitable that more teams are gonna quit or leave BW. I grew up playing BW and it has been a part of me for the last 10 years and now all of a sudden SC2 is coming a long to replace it, it just feels really bad, i don't want to let go of BW and all the memories i have from playing it.

R.I.P [LighT]
Very true. You only said "I love lamp" for the first 1.5 years I knew you! :p
seems like [Light]'s been one of the teams i've 'grown' up w/ through my broodwar carreer. They've always been around while i've been coming up in the competitive scene and i've seen them produce some of the top names (or at least, to me) in the foreigner scene.. Players that really took off and made names for themselves like Future, Raptor, Bandit, Schism, machine, B_saint, Chosen, cool_templar, Jiang, Shad, Hap, Freaky and of course the obvious gosu's like Louder, Oldy, JF and some of the newer generation awesome players like Kawaii, Aerials, and Gretorp.
they've definately had their hand in supporting and improving the foriegn bw competitive scene and have been a strong force in clanwars and team-leagues. Congratulations of your intense and successful run and your very loyal, honest and dedicated member following. Best of luck to all members of Team[Light] young and old, past and present in all your future endeavors.

Why not keep the team alive and transition into SC2?
As Xeris mentioned in his OP, the decision came beacuse real life took over and they could no longer play at a level they were used to. Transitioning to SC2 would not have resolved the issue.
Anyway, I am sorry to hear about this. It is always sad to hear when a clan falls apart. But at least you have seperated on a good note. I have seen far too many player organisations fall apart due to internal disputes and disagreements.

I feel sad yet really happy reading through this. there were so many great years and awesome memories for you guys. Thanks for sharing all of this publicly you easily could have just made a short post saying that Pandemic was disbanding, but to go back and explain the history for those of us who haven't been around as long... that is quite awesome.
I was IsCariOt[LighT] for a tiny bit, I didn't do much, and I didn't pass trial. I was a dick, I know, but I truly respected LighT, and all the members. This is a sad day for BW when the greatest American team dies. Good luck in all your endeavours.
Light was the best team I ever had the pleasure of being in. It makes me really sad that they are gone now. I hoped they would expand to SC2, though it doesn't seem like it will happen.
Conisdering stuff like this, as brood war seems to be coming to a close(at least in the foreign scene) I think someone should make an archive of posts like this(and also like that one with all the old school brood war pictures) and put all this stuff in an archive. I think now is the time to begin preserving the rich history brood war has.
sad day Light was a very respectable great team. They had awesome players who's skill was only matched by their personality. I am proud to have once been a member of such a great team!
I remember back when WGT was around (I was like D- in terms of today's skill and rankings) my only SC goal was to get good and join Light :p This was before I knew about Korean scene and TL I think.
What are you talking about? I specifically said we've never had any really known superstars which is why a lot of people don't know us. Just because you are ignorant of the foreign scene doesn't mean we're not old school. I just said that we were the oldest BW team in the competitive foreign scene aside from ToT (which was around since 98 or w/e)
When i just started playing bw your team was the one i dreamed of joining, but i lost all motivation to do so after getting bmed by louder in a pgtour game. Even so, ive still had a lot of respect for [light] throughout the years, and you as a leader. RIP light
This is truly sad news to me... I commend Duran and the team for all of their accomplishments and skill throughout the years... Running a team is far from easy, and all of the LAN's Xeris hosted brought the community closer and closer together.
P.S. Xeris - If you could give me some tips/advice on setting up LAN's and some popular locations to host them, that would be much appreciated! Thanks man, and I wish you luck with whatever you do in the future!
I'm very picky when it comes to teams. In my entire Brood War career, I've only been with two. After playing a few games against Gretorp (I rolled him ezpz, what a noob user) I knew LighT (eX at the time I joined) was legit. I was thrilled to be accepted. I finally felt like I was part of an online gaming family.
For a long time it was that way. I would show up, practice with team members, talk shit, participate in clan wars, etc. I didn't win many games at first, but eventually started getting some wins. I loved hanging out with the members and it kept my interest in SC going. I thank Xeris, JiYan, and Gretorp especially for making the team what it was.
I'm very saddened by this news. With SC2 on the horizon, I can't help but feel that SC is slowly being forgotten.

Someone said said to me, don't be sad that it is gone, be happy that you lived through it!
Starcraft was a great experience, and it will always be a good memory. I am very blessed to have experienced such a great game!
I've met so many good friends here, and It makes me so sad to see this happen. I've only been on the team for about a year, but it was the best year of my brood war life. I love you guys so much.
thank you.
Thank you Duran especially. You've been more than amazing, and a great friend.
I guess somethings like this were bound to happen with sc2 coming and some older players deciding to not come along with it. It's a shame though because I have always liked light. When sMi was in it's prime it was always fun for the two most competitive North American teams to battle it out.
I remember LighT and I used to play with some of the guys on east when I was in (i2). Whenever I would see LighT in news, I thought about good manner and good team spirit. Not many teams manage to keep such a high standard in that long a time.

Ironically, I, Mack 'TAD[Life]' Flinn, have recently created a new All-American based team called 'The American Dream Team'. This team is only one week old, and we have set the bar high. With SC2 nearing closer, and Brood War at its peak, I have assembled some of the best leadership in the country to form this new team. Our goal is to further the game of Starcraft, and e-Sports in general in America, and to make it more "commonplace". I will be looking to start hosting LAN's in the future and organizing various trips in the country. If any old U.S. Pandemic players are now in search for a team, I urge you to consider this project. We have a nice member base so far, all we need is support to get the ball rolling!

Yes, the real FBH was in the team. We had a Croatian Terran back in the day named Deadman who was a HUGE fan of FBH - he ended up stalking FBH on West and somehow convinced him to join because we were and english speaking team and could help him with his english. He didn't join to play for us or anything, just to practice english.
So he posted on on forums from time to time and came on PGT every so often. A few of the members didn't believe it was him until we saw him play a few games against some of the guys and he was getting insane APM's and such. We also had a few Korean people (NighT for example) who spoke to him a bit in Korean.

It's quite heartless to post a recruitment post in a thread about a great team dying. Also, who the hell would want to be in a team that only allows in USA players, and has a terrible tag. lol
<3 LighT RIP. I was actually a light fan for a while, I loved when Bandit played. I remember watching a game of his on rpoint. It was this crazy hour long ZvP where he raped face.
I think it was posted on here, but I can't find the rep. Oh well. If you remember epic[light] he was a friend of mine too. I think he was in LighT around 2006ish

I am only trying to give the players that were in Pan a home after everything they had known was just let go... so it's quite the opposite of heartless, i did it for consideration -.- . Not to mention, I am friends with Duran, and the last thing I'd want to do is upset him or anyone else from Pan.

I always wanted to return to [LighT] myself, but I had gained a reputation as a clan hopper, which I think was well earned, although not as bad as Juan's. Also, I was never any better then a B rank Terran, so they had no real use for me.
Duran, I apologize for my stupidity in LighT, and outside of it, and AeriALs, even though you accepted an apology through teamliquid pm's, I apologize for my abrasiveness against you too. I was young, and cocky. I wish you two the best of luck in your endeavours.
I can't believe this is happening... too many fond memories.. so many great players came and went.. others stayed for the long haul.
LighT will always have a place in my heart. Xeris you deserve a lot of credit for your contributions to the team. I respect you for that.
I'm still in shock.. it has been a long time. I joined LighT in 2003. Great times indeed. I remember fut and I were 1-2 punch come cw time. I miss those days. If LighT does not speak of greatness, I dont know what greatness is then.
Sad news indeed, the more i read the more i feel BW is being terribly hurt by the new SC title... For better or whorst? too soon to know. Anyhow, best of luck to all you guys , peace
Id also like to add that ive been playing this game for about 10 years now and am what people would call a clan hopper. In total ive joined around maybe ATLEAST 60 different clans that i can roughly remember between USEast, USWest, and even Europe. [LighT] has truly been my favorite team, next to l2k- on USEast. But [LighT] was competitive and good ,which i wanted, so eventually i left l2k- for them and dont regret 1 bit of it .
Duran, i think ur awesome leader and good friend. I sure hope on playing for [LighT] *wink* on SC2

I don't understand why clans have to be disbanded. Why can't they just go on with new members coming, and old members staying. Obviously, this was not a group decision because StRyKeR still wanted to be in the clan. WHERE WILL THEY GO?

internal power struggles = clan dies anyways, might as well kill it off when it's still going strong rather than suffer a slow decay
I guess that's what happens when you put an Iranian in charge

As I said before - the decision is: recruit new people to keep the team alive, or end the team at the top of our game so to speak. The problem with recruiting new people is that there are simply no good people left worth recruiting who can compete at the highest level. Recruiting new people will 100% mean taking a step backwards in skill level.
I spent 5 years of my life building a team of a specific skill level and reputation, going backwards is not something I'm interested in doing at this stage of my life and the game.

It means a lot to me that this thread has gone 7 pages, I'm glad people appreciated what we did, and ofc all the current / former / etc members !! <3 everyone
Yeah, it was a great run, and I honestly wish it did not come to an end. It was great seeing Light achieve such great things.
I remember back when I was leading the clan, it got rough for about 2 months when basically the whole roster left, and it was just B_Saint and myself left to keep this team alive. This is why we had a rough time in our transition to div 2 because all our good players left for one reason or another, and the clan war lineups were Me, B_saint, 2 forfeits, and B_saint + myself for the 2v2 so we basically had to win out to get a 3-2 victory, and we did that once and finished 1-7 lol. Thankfully some of the former players came back, and I also went out to recruit some young talent to just breathe activity and fun back into the team. I passed the leadership down to Hap in 2005, because I was about to go to college and could not allocate the amount of time I felt it took to be a good leader. Hap did a good job leading, and I was happy I left it in his hands, and Xeris did a marvelous job in growing the team and really pushing it to that next level. It was nice to see my long time dream finally come true which was seeing Light become a powerhouse in the BW scene.
My emotions are very mixed right now because Light has been my home for the longest of the current players on the team (and managers), and it came to an abrupt end. It just kind of hit home today for me. I really have nothing else to say. I am just very sad the team had to be disbanded, and perhaps it will be resurrected one day.
sad to see a clan go. when I started BW i knew y'all as 50cal, they were some of the first replays I watched ever. they were of y'all.. like literally right after i watched my first boxer reps this was what i saw, it was some amazing, inspirational shit to me at the time. sad to see you guys leave, but i understand the reasons a lot. i wish you all good luck in the future.
That was a fun read (except for the part where you said you hated me lol). Good job Duran (aka Xeris).
I'll always remember the time when Future and I beat Testie and Veg in a 2v2 game. Veg got taken out the game pretty early by future and I. About 10 minutes into the game Future got taken out by Testie but we managed to hurt Testie's main pretty badly. After future fell it was just me vs Testie 1v1. The game was 45 minutes long but in the end I took him down 1v1 and we managed to come out on top!
Another one of my favourite memories was when I first joined (3 months after LighT was created). Future recruited me after I beat him in a best of 3 series 2-1. We then went on that very same night to play 20 2v2 games in a row. I don't remember what our record was but it was pretty good, probably like 14-6. In case anyone was wondering, this all happened on WGT in late 2002.
I'll also remember when Future and I went a perfect 8-0 in 2v2 to help get team light into division 3 for the first time ever on WGT. During those days we were the team's #1 2v2 team. A lot of our clan wars were tied 2-2 and it was up to Future and I to get us the win. We always pulled through for LighT that season
I remember when Joel and I worked for like 6-7 hours one day practicing/figuring out shuttle speed AI and how to effectively drop / pick up reavers and such. Ahh I miss those days when I played really seriously and wanted to be very good.
Nice team, sad that it died while Sc2 came, why not continue with SC2? but Xeris u made the good move to move on to a sponsored and famous team out there. gl with that, and gl to every player that's clanless atm from Light

Sarcasm aside. This sounds like a great idea to me ^^ And speaking of which (OD) is pretty old too not to toot any horns
Yes but they don't have that many accomplishments in the competitive scene. They still have a place in history for those of us who grew up on the USEast server

Very well written Duran. Even though I haven't played competitively for about 3 years now this thread brings back a slew of great memories that will not soon be forgotten. It's funny that you made reference to me by how we spent hours on end trying to master the speed shuttle and drop timing/acceleration mechanics because i remember that quite well. What hilarious yet great times those were!
I remember hanging out with you prior/during WCG Canada 2007 in the summer at Mitch's place with Ben/Paul/Ryan. Remember when Mitch slammed on the breaks in the car not knowing we didn't have ABS breaks and we almost got into an accident? Just hilarious. <3 Mitch I do however regret not having been able to play in that tournament that summer. I remember having been told by a variety of sources that no doubt I would be able to play because there were two open spots(of which freaky and some other guy I dont remember ended up claiming even though they too had not qualified prior). It was the only reason I came to Kitchener/Toronto and I had high hopes that i would participate considering I felt I was easily better than at least half of the people there. It sucked for me because I had practiced hardcore with Mitch for 2 weeks straight prior to the tournament and both of us were easily on top of our games. That being said, it was alot of fun and i certainly would do it again if this game were not on the brink of dying.
Although i was not in LighT for too long(maybe 1.5 years) it was my final team before I left this game which is why it will always have a place in my heart. It's sad that this great game is nearing its end for good, but at least sc2 is coming. Though i dont know if i will be competitive enough to play sc2 on a high level i will certainly buy it and hopefully have a chance to play with all of you guys again in the near future. Perhaps [LighT] can be reborn just for old time sake and we can enjoy the game on a social level instead of a competitive one. Once again, thanks Duran for your great leadership and for keeping the team together for so long. It will be missed.
P.S - If you're wondering what Mitch is up to, i recently met up with him in August when he visited Ottawa. He was working on starting his own business with a college friend of his and came to Ottawa to offer a proposal to a business prospect in the city. I still need to ask him how it went. Oh and - I still play BW for fun on east from time to time. I play random games here and there every so often, usually random zero clutter/BGH games/etc :d . If anyone wants to play a game or two for fun, i still log on from time to time for a game.
Hey. A lot probably won't remember me, as I was before their time, but just wanted to give my condolences to team light. Along with the WGT ladder system, light was the highlight of my starcraft gaming time. I won't forget the good laughs I've had with future, hap, green, and fog. It must have been 2003-2004 that I was involved in light before going inactive, so a bit before Xeris' epic installment with the team. Although, I did get to meet some of you. The (FML I forgot) person in the 2007 wcg pic is in fact me, lol. Ryan, as I suppose you've forgotten.
Gaming is a big part of kids childhood memories when growing up nowadays, and I'm glad I experienced SC through my elementary and highschool years. Now approaching mid twenties at age 22, done college, and working as a technologist engineer, its great to see people I've met online throughout the years still act on their memories like this. Unfortunately real life happens, and maturity and other responsibilities shift our interests elsewhere, for our own benefits.
I don't forget past experiences very easily, and WCG 07 was no exception. From the time we all went out to that mongolian village-like restaurant that made the food in front of us, to mitch making endless egg and protein shakes, to Xeris even barbequeing me a sick ass piece of pork. Endless games with future on that sand map (forget the name of it) and nostalgia. It was a good times. So many more memories with SC but the best of 'em were definitely with light.
Wont make this too long, but thanks to everyone. Nice to see some of you posting above. Thanks newblish for linking me this thread. I'm out, peace guys, you made it all worthwhile.
