Russian programmists created a new launcher recently. I played it yesterday. Here is its main features: - It has internal plugins in itself, including LAN Latency, join-alarm, APM alarm (all we had before) - It has auto-find-opponent feature like in WC3 !!! - It has its own rating system working like ELO rank. So auto-finder will find an opponent as strong as you. - Currently it supports few last maps of ICCup. More maps will be added later. - U can auto-find by map and by race. So, typing "/find desti z" means that u will be joined to Zerg player on Destination map.
List of main commands: /find - find random opponent on random map of your skill-level /find z - find Zerg player /find z desti - find Zerg player on Destination /find z desti join - find Zerg player on Destination, u will only join, not create map /stats - Stats /maps - list of maps shortenings
If u know russian or use translation: http://sc2tv.ru/all/sc2tv-news/1327-start-publichnogo-beta-testa-starcraft-servera.html copy paste the link
Also, here is the direct link to the launcher: http://sc2tv.ru/uploads/sc2tvLauncherSetup.exe

Any idea about the anti-hack?

awesome, if this works they can delay starcraft 2 forever

this sounds amazing. id switch from iccup tp this if there's a strong enough user base.

Basically it's a modded Chaoslauncher with a LatencyChanger which is set to always on and a new plugin.

They should combine this with iccup.
|
They should put auto match in the iccup launcher.
Would make things harder for some people.

This servers pretty great actually just tried it. Not too many people yet but in a few days it should be booming, russia has a decent sc community.

its better if they just teamwork with iccup to make iccup better. dont split up the community t.t
|
Omg, I really hope that iCCup works with this and involves the new ELO rank system. That would be cool, or if they found a way to keep the ranks but match up the auto-find opponent to your actual skill level.
|
It's competition so I wouldn't want the community split. I'd rather them what Greeny is suggesting and working with iccup which is already established and has a lot of resources. Although I admit, chances are slim.
|
ELO? Great! Automatchmaking? Great!

Can't get past the mySQL database error...

Wow, pretty insane. It seems that you can even search for specific opponents and maps! I imagin this to be great if you want to practice a specific BO on a specific map vs a specific race.
Now lets just hope that ICCUP does not refuse to work together with them.

Can someone explain ELO ranking?

and can someone explain me if this launcher is ready? i dont know russian so i checked the page and found only the old advloader w/o features like /find or w/e im quite ashamed of myself D:

Either finds a readymade game that a z has hosted on desti OR creates a game on desti which z's can join
/find z desti join specifically designates that you're searching for a readymade game

Wonder if it stores matchup-specific ELO... my matchups are at rather different levels.

How about lag issues? - at the moment i am on a crap satelite connection so i cant play anyone out of eorope pretty much.
I am forced to join games with 1 green latency bar.
Will this launcher be adressing this somehow?

this is a really good system... played first game, i might be using this. i mean its not as big as iccup but you get to play with people quicker i think.

Does it have any form of anti map hack? Yes, antihack is used in sc2tv launcher.
How do you make ladder games? Following conditions should be met simultaneously: 1)The Starcraft should be runed with the sc2tv launcher 2)The Map from sc2tv pack (they are installed by the automatic together with sc2tv launcher) 2)Type of game 1 on 1
If all is made correctly in the game beginning there is a msg Game is ladder GL, HF

rentgen, welcome to tl.net! Actually, he's one of the guys that made this awesome launcher. Big thx for that!
As for iccup integration, that might be a problem, as there was some drama between sc2tv.ru and iccup, after which sc2tv was banned from iccup. However, a lot of time passed, so maybe iccup and sc2tv could work together once more.

Ourselves against splitting community. But we did not have a choice. When ICCUP banned us, we had to search for a new platform for streaming and tournaments on StarCraft. Our server became it.
|
just played my 1st game i iliked it and it was pretty fast to get a game though a bit laggy

If this program finds games with good ping and matches opponents skill pretty well there is no reason the community should split. Everybody should switch over. Nice job.

A friendly merge seems a lot more appropriate. iCCup might want to look into incorporating some of those services into their system.

For anyone that is interested, here is a synopsis of the events that lead up to the banning of SC2TV from ICCUP:
SC2TV were casting one of their events.
Enter Unk.
Unk starts demanding obs slot - something that has been denied to everyone, including close friends and possible sponsors, due to lag - and is denied. Unk runs to Yellow-Ant saying that SC2TV is violating the TOS of ICCUP.
Yellow-Ant contacts imba.Adolf[ra], one of the progenitors of the SC2TV project, and makes an ultimatum: you put a lot of ICCUP-ads in your streams and on your homepage and we let you stay.
imba.Adolf[ra] replies that the usual banner that is seen in the chat channels are displayed constantly as well as ICCUP being mentioned constantly by the commentators and players being drawn to ICCUP by various "forfun"-events that SC2TV hosts.
None of this pleases the ICCUP government and after some exchange, SC2TV is expunged from the ICCUP server.
SC2TV events have henceforth been hosted on the Podolsk server, whose administration was kind enough to provide SC2TV a dedicated channel and admin rights.

Yeah but there aren't many people on it, so its kinda hard to find games, and the fact that iccup has their website with stats and everything in English means they probably won't be losing their users. If this thing had something like the iccup site, and a larger user base I would switch permanently.

Of course. It's just a first step. And as it was said, we made this server/launcher basically for holding our streams. But we are going to upgrade our portal to be able of keeping all the statistics, and to have a strong bound with sc-server. For example you will have an opportunity to call down any sc2tv.ru user in the site panel and your game replays would be automatically saved on the site. If you wish, they could be open for everyone. And, it's more important for English speaking community, that we are working on English version of the site too. But all of that is in the distant future. Sorry)
Beta testing of the server/launcher ends in a week. We hope to fix all bags until the New Year. And approximately after the 1st of January we'll start the 1-st season. So you should expect more people, as we will post adds on different sites and so on.

I love iCCup and all the work volunteers put into it, but sometimes they're such incredible assholes. SC2TV and TSL are huge volunteer projects too, there's no reason iCCup admins should get special privileges that threaten the success of these projects. IMO that's a sign someone is doing it for the wrong reasons. I guess it's been awhile since this happened, but I really hope they've matured a bit at HQ.

I mean...the ICCup TOS does say refuse to hold tourneys / other events, with no explanation stop an announced or started tourney / event, if the obligatory conditions have been broken exclude any user from the participants list, with no explanation be present at the tourney / event channel be an observer in games of any stage make its own video/radio translations make its own reviews, articles, announce results request replays from the tourney / event request any other information It's pretty obscenely powerful...but isn't that what a TOS is for? Yello doesn't eject entire groups of people over something as small as not having banners all over the place, so there must have been something more that nobody is talking about.

too bad this didnt come out before TSL2 ladder..... with a mandatory launcher like this, the only criteria would have been skill at bw, and not how good you are at abusing a ladder system.

I like how all the D people think there are all these smurfs on iccup. when really theyre just bad and dont have an excuse for why they lose to trash players.
what do you expect ppl laddering up to B/A to do? skip the D ranks?
also this launcher is pretty nice, should talk to iccup bout a merger of sorts.

if iccup + this launcher, it would be great for the community. purely elo ranking

The auto-game finding feature is amazing, but for some reason I the server wouldn't recognize me as using the SC2TV launcher after each game. That meant a log-out -> back in every time.

This does seem like a very easy way for people to matchup dodge which defeats purpose to a ladder I believe.
