:: FREIBURG FRENZY :: TL MEET-UP :: FREIBURG, GERMANY ::
December 4th - December 7th

Hey all,

We're organising a TL meet up in Freiburg, Germany. Apart from having a good time and having a blast with fellow TL-members we'll be having some great entertainment in store:
  • StarCraft LAN - We'll try to set this up, literally be face-to-face with the people you play with online!
  • MSL - Savior and Bisu group -THE group everyone should be looking forward to - complete with German-accent commentary and some outrageous Bisu fanboysm by disciple
  • Pholon will be there to organise the next TL-Arena - Announcement soon!

Schedule and Venues

First, where we are going to sleep. Well, for the time from Friday till Monday I booked this:

Its kind of hard to see on this picture but its a huge, 140m2 room, with lots of coaches,a fussball (if thats the correct word for it) a bar, a Poker set, and fridges to keep the beer cold. We will watch the MSL and LAN there. We will sleep there as well The address of the thing is Hindenburgstr. 68 So, how to get there? Really easy. Once you get to the central rail station, which you will eventually do, you will see a bridge above the rails.

There is a tram staiton on the brigde. Get on Tram #1 in direction Littenweiler, if you got on the bridge from the train station, that will be the tram which goes to the left. The station on which you must get off is called Alter Messplatz
[image loading]

she will LAN as well

There is a big shopping center near the station, you cant possibly get it wrong. The address of the mall is Schwarzwaldstraße 78. So just put the two addresses in google maps and it will guide you to my place. Its no more than 2 minutes from the tram station to teh finishing line As for the dudes with cars... well I posted the address above, so by using google maps, it will be easy to find it.

Sleeping will cost you nothing but be sure to take a sleeping bag !
Important note !: if you are coming on Friday, I will be able to pick you from the rail station and you wont have to worry about how to find the place. So ppl who are coming on Friday - PM me

Schedule

Friday:
Nothing is planed for Friday. Main thing is to get to Freiburg. If we have time, we will see the town, maybe drink something.

Saturday:
Saturday will be packed with cool stuff. Starting from the morning, we will watch the MSL in the big party room. Till then, I will take care about finding a video projector so we could enjoy Bisu/savior to the max. After that we will LAN. Unfortunately as I booked the room, there was already a planned event for 4 to 6 pm in the afternoon. So in any case we will stop playin SC for a while, and resume after that.

For the evening there are two things planned. TL arena at 22:00 CET and the TL community dinner. I havent booked a place for the dinner just yet, but when I do, I wont post info here, we will move as a group on Saturday anyway. So its really up to us what to do : go in town, get drunk have a good time, OR stay at home, watch the TL arena, LAN some more, get drunk and have a good time.

Sunday
Nothing is planed for Sunday as well. If the weather is good we can play some football, or just get drunk and host a poker tournament or a cooking contest,lol... Or ofc just LAN.

So, I assume everybody who posted in the thread before will come. Pls confirm and if you will take some buddy along, let me know so I can book the right table for the community dinner. Tell me also, when you are going to arrive in Freiburg, and if you will bring a laptop for the LAN.

That all I had to say

Community Dinner !! Saturday, the 5th of December 20:00

Imporant update:
I just booked the place where the community dinner will take place. Its a korean restaurant called Korea Manna, and forget about the chop suey shit - ppl cook some real korean stuff right there.
Whatever you order, you will most likely eat smth like this for the first time. The prices for the meals start from 5 euros and go up to 10, so imho it should be fine. The soup that I ate there was really big and tasty and the waitress was Jessica and Tiffany in one.

So we have a table for 15 ppl, 8 pm on Saturday. For the dudes who are coming to Freiburg just for this, the adress of Korea Manna is Gerberau 44. The location of the restaurant is great btw, because its really in the city center, and there are plenty of pubs nearby.

Smth really important. The chick told me that it will take a lot of time if we want to eat meals with rice involved. I have the card right here, and the meals she had in mind are

1. Kimbap 5,20 euros

2. Cheese Kimbap (aka Flash Special) 5,50 euros

3. Sogogi Kimbap 5,90 euros

4. Tuna Kimbap 5,90 euros

5. Bokumbap 5,50 euros

6. Bulgogi Chapche Deopbap 7,80 euros

7. Bibimbap 8,50 euros

I have no idea what any of this is, but if we focus on these 7, I must say to the chick to be prepared earlier. Other than these 7 meals you can choose from 5 different soups some vegetarian shit and the House Special which is 12,80 Euros. In any case I will tell the ppl there to be prepared for some mass Kimbap ordering, cause thats what most of the ppl will eat anyway.

Last, but not least I will take a deep breath and type the legendary SOG line
BRING YOUR OWN CASH

If you want to sign up or have any inquiries PM or find me (disciple), Aesop, Pholon or zatic on IRC. If you are living somewhere in Europe, you can fly really cheap to us as well. Just go to Ryanair's web page and search for flights to Baden-Baden, Karlsruhe. Once you get there, its fairly easy to take the train to Freiburg, which is 80km away from the airport. If you are worried where you are going to sleep, I can provide food, I can provide shelter, I can provide security.

I'll driving down from Dusseldorf on that Friday evening. Will pick up Nyo on the way. Remaining 2 seats are for now reserved for Swedes trying to make it, but post here if you need a ride and together we'll work something out

Looking forward to this!

:: NEWCASTLE :: TL MEET-UP & LAN :: NEWCASTLE, NORTH-ENGLAND ::
August 13th - 16th

Hey chums,

Kovutalli and myself have organised a TL meet-up and LAN super fun fest in the home of goofy accents and Alan Shearer: Newcastle, England. Apart from having a good time and having a blast with fellow TL-members from around Europe (hopefully) and lots of starcraft. Check this shit yo.

  • StarCraft2 and Brood War LAN - We got two days from 10am-10pm in Cyber Game Zone for so much Starcraft that your dick explodes.
  • TotalBiscuit will be there, I'll be there. Fuck that, you need to meet us. We're fucking awesome.
  • Newcastle is home of something cool... maybe. We'll find it and have fun there.

First, where we are going to sleep. At the moment, we got nowt, but don't worry. There's some massive and cheap Hostels (It's newcastle, they're going to be dirt cheap) and when enough people say they're coming, we can book them in bulk and save so much money you'll note it down and tell your family when you get home. We're currently looking at Albatross Backpackers

You have some choices for sleep times. I'm going to list them for you so if you don't know your options you know you're dumb.

  • If coming from a long way, we will have a group of us staying Friday, Saturday and Sunday Night at a hostel. For all you super cool people from abroard or travelling a long way from inside the UK, pick Option 1
  • For those who can get to Newcastle in the morning of Satuday can stay Saturday and Sunday Night. You guys can be Option 2
  • For those coming not so far, a group of you can book one night (Saturday). Find some buddies in Option 3 and save some cash.
  • For those Geordies who live nearby, go home. (Option 4)

Some planning fun:

Friday:
Friday is a cool day. For those travelling from London or around there, hit me up and we'll go up together, maybe stop for a manly lunch. For those of us who get to Newcastle of Friday, Kovu is going to find somewhere for us to have a Pre-LAN dinner meet. I hope that's ok by him.

Saturday:
Saturday we'll get to the LAN centre at 10ish and then stay there and play some Starcraft. If I got a BIO finals available, then we'll play one. We'll probably have a sweet BW tourney too and maybe some Poker stuff if people bring a set.. In the evening we'll go find somewhere to get drunk or do something fun. I dunno how, but we'll find a way.

Sunday
Same dealy as Saturday really. Will run an SC2 tournament and have more fun.

If you are coming, you need to post right here in this thread and tell me what sleeping option you need and how many are coming.

That all I had to say

MONEY

You guys are probably poor, I get it. This is what it'll cost ya:
Event Entry: This will be £17 for the whole thing. If we get a lot of interest, this will probably drop.
Accomodation: From what I've seen, no more that £16 a night.
Food: Newcastle is pretty dirty. You can get a kebab for like, £2.
Travel: I dunno, find out yourself.

If you show up without the entry fee or whatever, I won't let you in. I don't give a shit, no freeloaders.

Travel

Firstly I hope you are all aware of thise: EVERYONE FROM ANYWHERE IS WELCOME. I've asked the LAN guys and they don't seem to care how many come (there's 42 PCs so would like to get at least that many) so if you're from the UK, or from New Zealand, you can come. (Even Germans are allowed).

From the UK
Get a train or some shit. You're an Adult, you should be able to manage it. Don't be lazy.

From Abroard
Newcastle has an Airport so you can fly there. If it's expensive or whatnot, check other nearby airports and consider flying to one of them then getting a train or something after. The Airport generally have really good links.

From Train Station to Centre/Hostel
HOLY SHIT MAP.
You guys can arrange times to meet at the station and someone can come get you.

Yeah it's just due to where I live. To get a flight to Baden will take longer to travel to the airport than time/money saved on a flight.

I live near Basel. But no time available that weekend.

Have fun guys!

And if you fly to Basel/Mulhouse, it should cost you around 11 Euro with a slow train and 20 Euros with the fast one to get to Freiburg. And probably some euros to get to the train station with the bus.
If they didn't change the prices since i went to university in freiburg.

Ok guys, we need a beamer video projector !

Can someone take care of this ?

I don't think many people outside of Germany know what a beamer is :-)

I'll be there Friday night ~8pm. Who's going with me now, Infernal and Methodman? Please PM to confirm.

Add me to confirmed pxl.

Going to man up and book my Tickets tonight. Going to go to the Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg airport, then get a bus to freiburg then... erm, walk I suppose to wherever this is. If you could make a list of anything we may need for this and I'll look around to see if I can help out.

I can probably pick you up in the way there. Might have to discuss with Nyo about relocating either of you (Aachen?) since you're both a detour on either side the direct route.

I have to think about it but I'm feeling like telling lies to my family and going, I think I've found offer to go by coach for ~100euros from Warsaw directly to Freiburg and back... and I should have savings for that but how much more euros would I need for those 3 days?

It may not be necessary D:
I asked my mother what she thinks about me going for a party that would mean being outside of house for 5 days:

the good thing is she nearly reaches orgasm when I mention being with live people anytime anywhere
even though she saw me looking at Germany through google maps so HAS TO suspect something she said she will think about it

the bad thing is my real life needs some fixing and I haven't begun to do it well enough yet even though it was me that started talking with them about it (and I proposed few pretty big changes not them) so vanishing somewhere and not doing what I really "should" may seem very incosistant
In short I'm pretty much "leeching off" (good verb?) them and I want to change it... this is sort of connected to other things.

I think I will know tomorrow for sure lol.

zatic and Aesop asked me to scout a korean restaurant, which from what I hear from a couple of other sources is a great place to eat and drink. I have in mind however something else. My favorite typical Kneipe with huge steaks + salad + french fries for 6 euros

I checked but I can't make it D:

btw the stuff on the menu you posted is mostly kimbap which looks like this:

1. Kimbap 5,20 euros - regular

2. Cheese Kimbap (aka Flash Special) 5,50 euros - with cheese

3. Sogogi Kimbap 5,90 euros - with beef

4. Tuna Kimbap 5,90 euros - with tuna

5. Bokumbap 5,50 euros - mixed fried rice

6. Bulgogi Chapche Deopbap 7,80 euros - glass noodles with rice and meat

7. Bibimbap 8,50 euros - rice with mixed vegetables (and meat sometimes)
+ Show Spoiler +

seems like you got mostly boring stuff on the menu and no korean barbecue, that's too bad :D
but the waitress will make up for it

I will pick you, no worries. The beer in the pub is 3 euros but in the shop, about 1 euro
The place where we are going to sleep and party is a student campus. I live here for a couple of months already, and in the house there is this big party room we are going to use for the event.

Damnit they changed the schedule for MSL T_T

Are you sure about the projector? Pholon, Nyo and me are not going to arrive at 3:00 on saturday morning. So standing up 2 more hours and watch PL seams like a good option to me

My screen is easily big enough to enjoy watching PL, the projector was for extra "epic". I asked Pholon what he thinks about this and he said not to bother renting a projector. To be quite frank thats the best option for me as well, now we can break just about everything, I dont really care

Yeah dudes, tell us all about it!

Who won the Freiburg LAN tournament, or the Poker evening?
Is Nyovne as deliciously crude IRL as on IRC?
Did r.Evo show up?
Is Korean food as tasty as the rest of TL claims it is?

I hope there's at least a group pic of you guys.

There was no tournament, Klauso (paltung) was destroying us all.

Yes.
Did r.Evo show up?
Who? Probably not ...

It was very good.
I hope there's at least a group pic of you guys.
beetlelisk has most of them, and Pholon did a few at the dinner I think.

When we were walking up the "Schlossberg", we got an Italian tourist to take a group picture. Just before the second he asked "and where are the girls??".

If you watch Godzilla backwards it's about a benevolent lizard who helps rebuild a city and then moonwalks into the ocean.
