I totally didn't see that coming, with how much ICCUP has been expanding/improving this season. I mean they just relaunched their website with a ton of new ambitious features and things like the Justin.tv leagues...

On the other hand, on SC2's release they could re-release SC open-source like ID did with their games. Most things they valued like the Mpq protocol are already broken. Just to stress: they really really need the progaming scene focus to entirely switch from SC to SC2. The only way to do that is to kill SC completely, keep them hungry for a few months and them feed them with a brand new shiny game. SC2 isn't currently an expected top seller and Blizzard needs to cover their immense expenses.

![]() If this is real, it's way to early to do it. Yes, it does make some sense to make SC unattractive (kill unofficial servers and reduce slow down bnet servers even more), but not when the beta isn't even out yet. It makes thousands of people hate Blizzard, turns away many of them from SC and Blizzard overall, and certainly doesn't attract any additional SC2 customers. If they did that when SC2 was out for a few months or a year and SC2 has proven to be a decent game, they could push the last SC gamers over to SC2. But seriously how many people will be happy about not being able to play their favourite game for half a year (assuming that beta starts right now and lasts 6 months)? Bnet isn't attractive any more. People don't have any Blizzard titles to switch to in the mean time, except for those who had been WoW gamers on an off. So Blizzard WILL lose customers that way. Imo this has to be a joke. If it isn't, we should bombard Blizzard with complaints.

Iccup is a whole separate server that allows pirates to play on a Battle.net-like environment. Probably something Blizzard doesn't like. But I don't see why Blizzard would choose NOW to care about it (meaning Blizzard probably has nothing to do with this).

If they need a new server, it should be possible to organize something somehow. After all It's still thousands of players on ICCup, and we all saw what is possible when they collected money for the Polish WCG players.

In the past 5 years if I ever wanted to know something BW related I came to TeamLiquid.net FIRST. The only time I ended up at GG.net was because someone linked me there. GG.net, as far as I ever remember, was good for two things, Entropy (Physician), and GosuBets, which TeamLiquid has both anyway! Anyway, the server we need to host SC alone would cost about $400 USD a month. We aren't about to ask our players for that. But have no fear, unk will rob a bank or something and everything will be fixed.

If TL raised 6k for those players, that would cover 15 months. Seriously don't doubt the power of the masses. Or start running non-iccup ads, I am sure you could generate some good click money.

+ Show Spoiler + i was just informed that in few days our starcraft server box will be probably removed. Don't know wat is going on. Currently making backups… sad days coming? T_T upd4: It happened. upd3: monday — tuesday hould be our d-day..Anyway we got some promising offres from our gamers. Even though everything we have now is just only words and promises i am positive that we'll probably work this issue out.. upd 2: answering before it was asked. Todays webpage updates and downtime have nothing related to the trouble we have with our starcraft server… Though situation today got a bit better we are still unaware of the next day upd 1: just was able to contact our host. They agreed on informing us 1 hour before server removing starts. So no data will be lost while moving to other server… YelloAnt currently trying to use all his abilities to find a solution. no progres though....

I would gladly give $1-200 dollars without question. However, if they required a small subscription to play, wouldn't all of the korean players disappear? Also, didnt ICCup offer $1000 prizes for 1st place in ICCCL div1? If they had access to money like that, it shouldn't be a real problem to pay for hosting.

The official cost might very well be $400/month -- but in eastern europe that's slang for 'unless you show some appreciation to that "certain" guy'.

I can't guarantee it will actually go towards server costs or anything like that (in fact, most of it will probably go to cookies, bacon, and a new research institute which will have only 1 purpose: to find out the recipie for baconcookies). Please, give me money. hahahaha, epic win post right here x] i'm not really worried bout the servers. they'll be fine, just give the iccup admins time.

LOL dude, you just read the link that some admin posted which is 100% wrong. That has nothing to do with whats going on right now. That was like 2 weeks ago, and they already got the RAM fixed and put on the right server. If you read UNKS blog about the end of iccup, then you will know whats going on. Not his 2 week old blog about RAM. Heres the link. http://www.iccup.com/iccup/content/blogs/end_of_iccup.html
