(T)Midas, the man of proleague post season took off SK Telecom T1's red uniform and put on the green Wemade Fox uniform.
In 2001, (T)Midas debuted as a Kingdom Under Fire progamer, and moved to G.O (Now CJ Entus) in 2003. He won WCG Korea 2004 and won 2nd place in WCG Grand Finals in 2004.
However, it wasn't until he moved to SKT that (T)Midas showed his full potential. He joined SKT in March 2005 with his G.O teammate (Z)GoRush. With (T)iloveoov and (T)Canata, he became the terran ace for SKT in 2005.
(T)Midas especially was strong in the post season. He had a 7 game win streak in post season, and went 7-1 in the post season. With his high 87.5% win percentage, he earned the name "Man of the post season". He showed consistency in 2007, getting 3rd place in Pringles MSL, Shinhan Season 2, and WCG 2006 Grand Finals.
Even in 2007 Midas went 17-12 in the proleague, and continued to work to revive his team in 2008. However, he had a 3 game losing streak in 08-09 round 1 and fell into a slump, and hasn't played a game since 2008 November 30th 08-09 proleague round 2. He also lost in the Batoo OSL round of 36, and hasn't played an official game since the wild card games in January.
(T)Midas's chance of revival in WeMade seems high. Although he lost the terran ace in SKT to the (T)BoxeR-(T)iloveoov-(T)fantasy-(T)Canata-(T)Mong terran lineup, he can compete against (T)NaDa, mind, (T)BaBy, and (T)Major for the entry spot. He also has more experience than anyone beside (T)NaDa on the team.
Furthermore, he has the will to continue. He stated that "Since I'm doing badly at the moment, my initial goal is to get on the proleague lineup and win," and that "I have the confidence but I'm lacking practice, so I'm going to have to try hard."
So the problem is raising back his pace and confidence. He needs to regain his game sense he had during his prime, and regain his strength and consistency he had during the regular and post season. If he can get this done, it is only a matter of time before he reappears on the matches.
"I didn't worry but I think my fans worried a lot. I didn't practice hard enough so I couldn't get sent out on the matches, but I will try harder from now on and play a lot, so I hope to see you often in the stadium."
Whether (T)Midas can meet his fans often in the matches like he wishes in the 09-10 season and win is something to look forward to.

프로리그 포스트시즌의 사나이 전상욱이 SK텔레콤 T1의 빨간 유니폼을 벗고 위메이드 폭스의 초록색 유니폼으로 갈아입었다.
지난 2001년 킹덤언더파이어 프로게이머로 데뷔한 전상욱은 스타크래프트로 전향해 2003년 CJ엔투스의 전신인 슈마 G.O에 입단, 2004년 WCG 2004 국가대표 선발전 우승에 이어 그랜드파이널에서 은메달을 획득하는 등 슈마 G.O의 테란 기대주로 활동했다.
슈마 G.O의 테란 기대주로 활동하던 전상욱의 기량이 만개한 것은 SK텔레콤 이적 후였다. 전상욱은 2005년 3월 슈마 G.O 동료였던 박태민(공군)과 함께 SK텔레콤 T1으로 이적, 최연성, 고인규 등과 함께 활동하며 SK텔레콤 테란 라인의 에이스로 팀의 2005 시즌 석권을 진두 지휘했다.
특히 전상욱은 프로리그 포스트시즌에서 강한 모습을 보였다. 전상욱은 포스트시즌 최다연승인 7연승을 기록하며 프로리그 포스트시즌에서만 7승 1패 무려 87.5%의 높은 승률을 기록하는 등 ‘포스트시즌의 사나이’로 맹활약했다. 또한 2006년에는 프링글스 MSL 시즌1과 신한은행 스타리그 2006 시즌2, WCG 2006 그랜드파이널에서 각각 3위에 입상하며 정상급 테란 선수로 맹활약했다.
전상욱은 팀이 몰락의 길을 걷던 2007 시즌에도 17승 12패로 제 몫을 해냈고, 2008 시즌에서도 SK텔레콤 테란 라인의 한 축을 담당하며 팀의 부활을 위해 노력했다. 하지만 08-09 시즌 1라운드에서 3연패를 기록하며 부진에 빠졌고, 2008년 11월 30일 08-09 시즌 2라운드 출전을 마지막으로 프로리그에서 모습을 볼 수 없었다. 여기에 개인리그 역시 마지막 출전 대회인 바투 스타리그 36강에서 1승 2패를 기록하며 탈락했고, 지난 1월 28일 와일드카드 12강 경기를 치른 것이 마지막 공식경기 전적이다.
위메이드로 팀을 옮겨 새롭게 둥지를 튼 전상욱의 부활 가능성은 일단 높아 보인다. 임요환을 필두로 최연성 플레잉코치, 정명훈, 고인규, 최호선으로 이어지는 SK텔레콤에서 주전자리를 놓친 전상욱이지만 위메이드에서는 이윤열, 박성균, 전태양, 강정우 등과 엔트리 경쟁을 펼치면 되고 이윤열을 제외하고 경험에서 다른 선수들을 압도하기 때문에 고정적인 경기 출전을 보장받을 수 있다.
여기에 정상을 경험했던 본인의 의지도 강하다. 전상욱은 “지금 경기력이 좋지 않기 때문에 일단은 프로리그에서 출전해 승리하는 것이 목표”라며 “자신감은 있는데 연습이 많이 부족한 것 같아서 열심히 노력해야 할 것 같다”는 각오를 밝혔다.
결국 문제는 떨어진 페이스와 자신감을 끌어올리는 것이다. 자신이 전성기를 구가하던 시절의 꼼꼼하고 빈틈없었던 경기 감각을 회복하고, 정규시즌에서 보였던 안정적인 성적과 포스트시즌에서 보였던 강력함을 되찾을 수 있다면 부활은 시간문제다.

Interesting; didn't the previous articles about FA say that none of the FA guys managed to get contracts outside of their original team? What changed since then?
I wonder...did WeMade pick him up to field him as one of the team's frontbench terrans, or are they simplying going to slowly extract knowledge from Midas's head about SKT1 until he runs out of info?

Ah, but see with FA it's the player's decision, yeah? This trade was clearly ruled by unfeeling corporate forces, a clear example of what the FA was supposed to prevent.
This news pleases me, I always liked Midas and thought it was a shame that he just kinda dropped off the map from challenging for being best player at one point. Hopefully this will also help revitalize WeMade, Lucifer and Midas can bring a lot to the team.

You're all forgetting that Nada will probably leave for the army in the near future. Still, you'd think Mind and Baby would be enough of a terran lineup when their other races blow so much in comparison.

How is WeMade gonna play Midas Nada Mind and Baby enough lol. And for some reason they like to go double zerg more often than double Terran. At least they aren't dumb enough to go double toss with their lackluster toss lineup.
I understand Midas was unhappy as a T1 benchwarmer, but I have the same reaction as most posters in this thread: will he really fare better at FOX? A change of scenery and coaching might help him along, but even with more practice I do not imagine him outperforming Mind or BaBy (he'll have to fight to take NaDa's occasional lineup spot, even).

He has better odds of taking up Mind/Baby's spot compared to Fantasy's spot.
To everyone saying that Midas will find it very hard to get a spot in WeMade's PL lineup, remember that it was FOX who were looking for a terran in the first place and apparently they rushed to make a deal with Midas after go.go('s parents) refused his new contract.
Also didn't Nada say he was going to retire? Baby hasn't seen the PL stage in quite a long time and Mind's gameplay is horrible right now, so the terran lineup at wemade isn't looking so tough after all...
is he stupid? I rather be in the champion team (and with boxer) than in a low tier team. Didnt even say how much he was offered. If he is not doing well this year, i dont see how a switch can do anything, let alone leaving a Terran powerhouse.

I really want Wemade to do well this season . Mind Nada and Iris are my favourite terrans to watch . I hope Mind starts playing well again . I'm not a big fan of Midas , but it's interesting seeing him move to wemade after all this time in SKT .
mmm I really like this, I would be a Wemade fan if Khan didnt exist... Well I hope that wemade can make a good PL with Lucifer and Midas as new reinforcements!

man there are a lot of terrans on wemade but i feel that none of them are exceptional (at least at this current time). it'd be nice to see a midas resurgence but i doubt it.
Nada is probably going to concentrate on individual leagues again next season, Baby isn't too consistent, so probably Midas and Mind are gonna duke it out for the primary terran spot in the lineup rotation.
Feels kinda sudden. I wonder if he really had any kinda role in skt1 or if he just drifted of and had no motivation for the game. There's definetly no use for him in skt1, well for any player who isnt zerg for that matter.
For him to go somewhere he really needs to be pulled back in the game or i dont see anything happening with him. His interview wasnt really fired up. Altough midas vs skt1 proleague sounds great.
