So despite me knowing less than a Hunan peasant on how this format works, I can still copy/paste results!
Normally there are three OSL seasons per year, usually each with a different sponsor.
The Shinhan Bank sponsored the last OSL of 2005. They were apparently very satisfied with the publicity they got through sponsoring it and decided to sponsor all three OSL seasons in 2006 (which are hence named Shinhan 1, Shinhan 2, Shinhan 3, while the one they sponsored in 2005 is simply called Shinhan OSL 2005). The final of the Shinhan 3 OSL was obviously in February 2007, but it belonged to the last season of 2006, just for clarification.
Anyway, Shinhan wanted to add something more special to it (they decided this in the beginning already) -> the Shinhan Masters. The Shinhan Masters features 4 players: the 3 winners of the 3 Shinhan OSL Seasons from 2006 (Casy for winning Shinhan 1, Nada for winning Shinhan 2 and Savior for winning Shinhan 3), as well as a fourth player who was to be determined out of 8 players (among those the other runner-ups of the 3 Shinhan seasons).
Onto the results!

I can't wait to see savior play again in the wake of the MSL final. He's gonna be pissed as hell and looking to annihilate someone. I think Day[9] and I will be doing an audio for Casy vs Savior

I can definately see iris taking this, when the hell did he get so good? lol

Small typo, GI:
IriS (T) <> Midas (T) on Neo Arkanoid
should be
IriS (T) > Midas (T) on Neo Arkanoid
Thanks for the awesome report!

Iris vs NaDa will be epic, but NaDa needs to step it up if he has any chance of winning.
The berzerker Iris has been unstoppable lately and he's playing with determination. I bet he's fiending for that rematch with ipxzerg

Did anyione else notice that the final four in the Masters tournament are the same as the four semifinalists in the last OSL?

Yep, that's exactly what I predicted. However, I expected Yarnc > BF and Anytime > Gorush. Let's watch how well fag Maestro does this time.

How many events are there in a year?
|
|
The winner of the masters, is he considered a OSL Champion? Meaning if NaDa wins, will he get his 4th badge, and become one away from the Platnium Mouse?
|
I thought osl was the biggest event which sav has already won. Someone tell me how many events there are throughout the year?

Thx carnac. Its still a bit confusing but i'll just re-read it lol. So this is the biggest and last event for awhile right?
so after all these events what are the normal seasons like do they just play games to see who qualify's for what and so on?
|
no, it runs in seasons, when one osl ends they go through odl (qualifier process) and then start up the next osl immediately after. theres 3 osls a year. same with msl.
|
Germany / USA16648 Posts
Don't know what's really confusing about it.
Anyway, some basics: There are two TV channel in Korea that host and broadcast Starcraft (not only SC though, but mostly), one is Ongamenet (OGN) the other one is MBC Game (or just MBC).
Each of the TV channels hosts a minor league (called Ongamenet Dual Tournament - ODT in short for OGN and Survivor for MBC) and a major league. The major leagues are referred to as Starleagues, OSL (Ongamenet Starleague) and MSL (MBC Game Starleague).
There are normally 3 seasons of each Starleague per year (think it was more like 2.5 for MSL earlier, because their seasons' format took longer to play out, but not anymore).
Lately two Starleague finals happened, Bisu won vs Savior in the most recent MSL (sponsored by GomTV) and Savior won vs Nada in the most recent OSL (sponsored by Shinhan Bank).
I explained the correlation of the latest OSL and the Shinhan Masters Tournament in my last post, I hope it is clear by now.
Anyway, regarding the question if this is the "biggest and last event for a while": it will certainly attract nice crowds, but it is obviously more the invite-only type of event.
The next regular MSL and OSL seasons will probably begin some time in early April.

I think casy vs Savior is one of the most anticipated matches of this year because Casy's tvz is outstanding (better than iris and Nada imo). Plus he capitalizes on micro and I think he has a chance to win, but if he does, maybe more people will say savior is slumping . but yeah i would rather see a savior iris final.

I really doubt savior will get rolled in this tournament like he did against bisu without some stunning new strategic counter.
I think we are just getting to the point, available replays or not, that people have analysed his gameplay - in particular his 3 hatch play - and are busy creating counters for it.
Bisu didnt play substantially better than savior imo, he just had a perfect counter for his strategy.
Luckily, all of the terrans here have the capability for that creative spark. They just need a counter.

That's the million dollar question... he played better of course, but I can't help but think that Savior looked sick or at least completely unmotivated and/or low on energy. He looked like he didn't sleep the night before. Hopefully he can get it together during the break before the next season starts.

just a note, in casy vs. savior the first (and fifth if it were played) game was 815; third was neo arkanoid and fourth was sin peaks. Great job on the results thread.

Why do people always say things like "nada has to step it up to win" in my opinion, he is the best Terran ever to play the game, probably the only old school still on top of the game... i know a lot don't like him, but ive been following his career since he was unbeatable back in the day Boxer was amazing because he made SC what it is today, but nada keeps on coming back and after the death of his father, he did fall apart. but now is back to where he should be, while others who were once #1 ranked has fallen below top 5 and never make it back again... don't take anything away from him because he is "THAT DAMN GREAT"

well let's not get into that again (though he's right :p, u only need 1 punctuation mark)
So NaDa finally gets his revenge after losing 1-3 twice in a row.
This superfight will be AMAZING. Plenty of revenge matches to see, Savior vs Bisu, Savior vs NaDa, and a much anticipated NaDa vs Bisu.
The only unfortunate thing is all games will be bo1 except for the finals, which will be bo3.

I don't think NaDa vs Bisu will be all that awesome. I never really liked Bisu's PvT style. When was the last time NaDa played TvP?
sAviOr vs Bisu I really want to see a re of.
sAviOr vs NaDa... again? I suppose the new maps will be interesting.
Now, have the other two members of each team been selected?
