Discussing M.C. Escher in class, naturally I thought of oGsMC and the GSL finals. hurr hurr, MinChul Escher. Anyway, MC Escher did some really cool tessellations, interlocking patterns and some mindwarping infinite stairs or shapes twisting into other shapes. I recommend looking up his stuff.
MC Escher's work characterized by balance, repetition, symmetry and subtle transitions.
I am a huge fan of both players, so it's difficult to pick one to root for. They both produce exciting games and display a refreshing level of candor and confidence.
I want to see both players do well and ultimately put on a great series, and possibly start a heated rivalry. Can MC continue his dominance as the first ever repeat champion? Can JulyZerg reach the same heights in SC2 as BW, being a golden mouse winner. Two of the most violent and crushing players colliding.
Money, pride and fate of pvz balance threads - with so much on the line will we get repetition, or symmetry?
However, with oGsMC being the overwhelming favourite, I can't help but pull for JulyZerg. Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily one for underdogs. It's more about that having people overlook and forecast a beatdown upon a player with the history and violent conviction as JulyZerg. Nobody tells Tushin what he can or can't do! I want see that beast roar back.
Regardless, I am pumped for this event and want to see both players put some elite calibre games. There can't be a "Kratos Protoss" and a "God of War" at the same time... There can only be one!
In honor of ST.July vs oGsMC

5/5 very nice blog dude. I love escher too. My parents are/were friends with a guy named Scott Kim that does similar tesselations, but focusses more on foreground/background tricks, 'ambigrams' (symmetric lettering), and more recently 'brain teaser' style puzzles that I'm really not into. You might be interested, check out his website http://www.scottkim.com/
edit: for a particulalry cool example check out this page http://www.scottkim.com/inversions/gallery/figure.html
also read Goedel, Escher, Bach (an Eternal Golden Braid) by Douglas Hofstadter. It's some of the purest nerd joy you'll ever find in a book.

Thanks guys.
Haha yea, I kept thinking of muta/lings when I saw that air/sea themed one. Just had to do it. It was lots of fun. Makes me appreciate his stuff (and similar art) even more after trying to imitate it.

I've had a calendar with his paintings for 2010, never heard of him before yet bought it upon finding. Started to like his stuff a lot, especially this one:
