I played in the TL Open today and lost in the ro64 to AhhBoxahh/Mihai.
It wasn't quite that simple though. It was way gayer than that. It's been quite a while since I've had to deal with a disconnect issue in a tournament as a player. I've forgotten how ridiculously annoying and honestly fucking retarded it is dealing with disconnects too. Looking back now I probably could have disputed it more but I'm way too fucking nice. I'm such an idiot....
anyway it's a TvT on xel naga and mihai goes for a rax expand build and I go for my shit medivac/tank/hellion push which is so fucking bad now but it's like the only tvt build I know so I do it anyway like a retard. He makes a bunker but its a wide nat so I go around and I know he'll pull scvs so I go for the narrow area behind the grass. He fights at a ridiculously horrible angle loses like 7 scvs and rines and immediately leaves the game. I'm at a lan center for a lan at the time with ppl watching and I was like fuck yes/ppl cheer etc, and I go report my win. he didn't gg or anything and could have left prematurely but it wasn't like nothing had happened in the game when he left. It was a standard type of ragequit when something bad happens in early game just quit... (idra does it all time etc etc)
He logs back on like 3 minutes later and says yo I disconnected you can take the win if you want or we can regame its up to you. I felt I was going to be in a pretty good advantage at the time he left plus why would I just agree to a regame if he was the one that disconnected after there had been player contact. I didn't even see him "drop" either and there was absolutely no lag in the game before that point. Seemed like he just pulled the plug immediately after a first engagement didn't go his way. I was going to force him to lift his expo and would have a contain, all he had were a few rines... he would have had to go back on 1base and wait for tech to kick in if he was going to even survive in the game. He has literally 8 rines (most of them almost dead) and not even a fact making and I have 6 rines a medivac a tank (sieging) with a nearly dead hellion at his natural. I have 6 more scvs as well. he would have had to pull back to his ramp and go back on one base and tech in order to get out as I would expo with him contained at his natural. The game isn't quite over but I have a HUGE advantage I felt. I'm not here to question the refs decision to regame the refs decision is the refs decision. it just fucking sucks so hardcore gahhhhh.
by the way, when a person drops don't you typically see the disconnect screen at least for a moment? From my end I saw him just flat out leave (after losing a first conflict) . . . sighhh I'm just raging about pointless shit honestly I would have gotten raped in the next round anyway probably but fuck it... still pissed about it gahhh disconnects are such a fucking annoying part of playing serious sc...

I'm not complaining that I should have been given the win, it definitely wasn't 100% over, I'm just raging here that disconnects are such bullshit and are so annoying to deal with. (both as a player and as a tournament organizer I've had the unfortunate experience of being on both sides multiple times, fuck me rename myself to unluckyfool?)
this crap put me on such huge tilt I got raped in the lan I was at too cuz I had to play matches vs a decent zerg player right away as I was going through all of this... god what a shitty day of starcraft for me, woke up thinking it was gonna be an awesome day, lan + tl open... now I just want to smash something. guhhhh I go on tilt so easy and play so fucking bad as soon as anything bad happens. I lose so many fucking bo3's after winning the first game, something bad happens in game 2 and I'm tilted for game 3. this shit plagues me all the time. ugh I just had to vent/rage here... 2 events fucked up for me by a faggy disconnect. gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh /rageeeee

If there was no disconnect screen then mihai is full of shit and used the disconnect as an excuse to get a regame.

and then he said he saw it say I had dropped which is a joke considering I was playing from a lan center.
whatever he got raped in the next round too so I guess he got what he deserved (if he actually did pull plug, only he knows if it was a legit disconnect or not)

I'm pretty sure a lot of times when I disconnect it just shows me as instantly leaving the game to my opponent - It only says I d/c'd to me. So don't be too harsh on blaming him - he may not have been lying.

I'm not really trying to blame him, I've known mihai for a while now and have no reason to believe he would lie to me. I guess I'm just mad about the whole thing.

Want to know what you should do? Watch the end of the replay in his first person view, and if he does nothing for a longass time then drops, then maybe its legit. If he's playing til the last second and then leaves the game, he's full of shit.
I don't think I've ever seen a situation where the opponent who disconencted "leaves the game" theres always a disconnect screen at least for a couple of seconds in case the connection went weak and comes back.
I'm not buying it Iamsmart.

Sometimes the lag screen appears and sometimes it doesnt, but i've only seen it act like that at the very beginning of the game. Even if it doesn't show the lag screep i feel like it usually says they were dropped. The game knows the difference.
BTW if thats the way the refs are running the show, it sounds like anyone can abuse by just leaving the game when they get behind and then they get a free regame. Basically you can just keep playing the opponent until you win.

There are times when the SC2 client just crashes into the bug report screen. In those cases you don't see the drop screen. It's happened in the GSL a few times too.

I'm a fan of NRG and their players, I'm not saying mihai cheated, but this is the first US qualifier, the first one he's enterred and its the difference between getting any point by getting top 16, and 0 p oints.

Finding this as an excuse for Mihai doesn't work out too well when he stated that he disconnected, not that his game crashed. Why would you say something that didn't happen thinking it would help? I'm not buying that as very credible just yet.

Did you look at the replay yet on First person vieuw from his side ? If he dropped earlier all actions should stop before he left.

I'm going to DL it and watch it now, but let me paint the scenarios in advance so nobody thinks I'm thinking of a reason to blame him.
If mihai is micro'ing intensely, all of a sudden he realizes he has no army left, then takes a small second and then leaves the game, it means he probably left himself.
If mihai is chopping up left and right, then its reasonable to think he was lagging
if mihai has no movements for 25-40 seconds before he leaves the game, then he probably dc'd.

I watched the replay from his PoV, he continues to micro / macro with around 300 APM right until he suddenly leaves the game, there was no noticeable pause which could indicate a disconnect.
