I realize this isn't Starcraft related, but my blog thus far has pretty much been about competitive gaming events photography so I think it fits. Last weekend was the last major fighting game tournament of 2011, SoCal Regionals, which was held at UC Irvine.
I decided to go out to this event and cover it in much the same way I covered MLG Anaheim and the NASL Season 2 Grand Finals after meeting a bunch of guys who had roots in the fighting game community at NASL. It also helps that I had a long-time friend competing in Marvel at the event as well.
SoCal Regionals featured multiple fighting game competitions, with hundreds of players and spectators attending. Just about every competition was streamed out to the Internet through twitch.tv, which was a major sponsor of the event. I met up with TheGunrun at the event and we both marvelled at the sheer number of streams going out to the Web coming from this community-run tournament.

Shoutouts to the people I met and talked to at the event. In particular, it was nice meeting Jared and TheGunrun from TwitchTV again since first meeting them at NASL. I'll definitely be looking forward to attending more events like this in the future.
