We would be interested in purchasing the original (or maybe just a print?) of the speed drawing of Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins as seen on MSN video.....we would also like to acquire the rights to show the video with the art in our museums....

Hmmm, I'm imagining somebody somewhere has blogged about successfully selling a video/piece of work to Ripley's before, we just need to find it and compare.
Also Ripley's is a public company, which means a lot of their information should be available, just need to find it.
Edit: I'm going to search around for a while and just edit in anything I find that might be useful.

if you can, i'd call a lawyer before i sign anything. money is great, but inking yourself into a bad deal for the sake of it is a situation you'd like to avoid. make sure to get things in print as well on official letterhead, e-mails are falsifiable.

thanks for the support, honestly I don't even think it's that special, i think a lot of artist can do it.. I just happen to be the first one who actually made a video on the idea of drawing both hand at the same time. Just take it a little slow, and have a lot of patience, and constantly switch attention for a good 2 hours.. lets face it, starcraft prepared me well for that (even then I was tired as hell afterward - felt like i was gonna throw up a bit lol). I don't really care about the money all that much, more of a curiosity and pretty happy since i love the show.
i just senta email to mayers (vice president), we'll see what happens.
ps. you think i should raise the price on my site??

get an agent. or at least do a free consultation with a lawyer. you want to make sure you can get every dime out of this possible. any time you sign the rights away to something, you could be also signing away residual income etc. not that it will probably be a huge amount of money, but you want to be sure you're getting a fair deal.

you want residual income. tell them you want X per month for every month they use your stuff. don't ask for a fat lump sum. ask for money overtime... you can get more that way and as you get more contracts like this you will start getting paid every month for doing nothing.

Are you having trouble filling your current orders? If you are getting more orders than you can comfortably fill then I guess raise the prices.
Make sure to reference on your official site to these great things like being featured on important websites.

I have no experience with how much they should ask for / you should accept...but the number they offer will be (a lot) less than what they would pay for it. So depending on your confidence or how well you can play it off / feel it out you MUST go higher.
