Yay, a Halal cart blog ^_^. That stuff is seriously delicious.
I swear the white sauce is watered down mayonnaise with a little bit of seasoning for most carts, though I hear some use yogurt based sauces too. My evidence towards mayonnaise is that it must have quite a high fat content, because I saw this guy just douse it on a pita and used it to grill it up once.
I've tried the 53rd street one once, I thought it was tasty. But I can never objectively judge Halal because I always have it when i'm starving so it tastes delicious anywhere.
I do like Sammy's Halal where I can find it though (just around NYU so far) because they use basmati rice, which I just like better than normal long grain.

Weaksauce, I know...

Also known as halal.
As its name implies, it's chicken, lamb, lettuce, and fried rice with white sauce + pita bread.
I didn't know Halal implied all of those things @_@

But the one he's talking about is the famous one. Although it opens relatively late, like 7 or 8 if I recall correctly, everyone goes there.

Also that looks so damn good. Yeah, its how they slaughter the animal you're eating, im pretty sure its not a dish ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif) Its a muslim thing I think. yes, they cut the throat open and let them bleed to death. You got to be a moron to support such a thing unless you're ignorant.. the most ignorant thing is a brainwashed swede talking about a different culture stick to eating reindeer, moron what's brainwashed aobut knowing that halal is a very cruel form of slaughtering. It's not like it doesn't exist in Sweden too..
So what? The animal dies either way.
I think it's HYPOCRISY to discuss details about how the animals are killed when you still eat your meat each day and many of these animals aren't being treated that well either. The entire meat industry is a bit sickening, so I dunno why you picked halal as your cause tbh.
Btw, the dish isn't called halal LOL.. The dish is like kebab/shish kebab or whatever

Jesus christ how the fuck are we supposed to know whether or not the dish is called "halal" or not?
I mean, I go to a fucking cart which says "HalalGuys" or "SammysHalal" ...and you expect me to know that halal means a way of slaughtering the meat?
lol

If it says 'Halal' or has it written in Arabic (حلال) then you can kinda assume its just talking about the way it was slaughtered lol :D
As Caller posted above its usually called Chicken Sharwarma or something and you can get it as a sandwich or as a plate as you described. Its really tasty.

Its like going to a korean restaurant and assuming that the pork bone soup that they serve you is called "korean".
I love eating a korean. As the name implies, it is a soup with pork meat and soup, served with rice...
Then you could say, how the fuck should I know that korea is a country? If the restaurant says Kim'sKorean ... and you expect me to know that korea is a country somewhere?

Why so serious? Did I say, "I love eating a halal (singular)"? I love eating Halal can imply that I enjoy Halal style dishes - it makes sense, no need to call people retarded or ignorant. If someone says "I love Chinese", does that make them stupid because there's no dish called "A Chinese"? Most likely, they're referring to Chinese cooking in general. And halal is not just a method of slaughtering the meat, it is basically anything permissible under Islamic law; it is not limited to the preparation of food. Besides, in New York, Halal is the term used to describe the type of food that this thread is talking about.

It's all very true. If you say halal, people know that you're talking about the guys at the carts. It's not ignorance, it's just a misappropriation of a word.
