Hope I don't get in trouble =/

So I was driving down Appling road looking for something to eat and was in the left turn lane to turn on Highway 64 when I noticed a strange glow out in the distance. There are some buildings and behind them trees and just beyond that I could see a bunch of smoke rising above the trees and and a large orange glow. Well at first I took no notice of it but was kind of suspicious. Coming back down 64 after having grabbed something to eat and when I stopped at the light I could smell the smoke and the orange glow and smoke in the sky hadn't changed. At first I was thinking it was construction of some sort or a controlled burn. But near 11 at night?

But I took no chances I called non-emergency services who transferred me to the fire department and I told the operator what I had seen. After hanging up I drove back towards the area to see way out in front of me a fire truck and I got stopped at a light when it went green I gunned it to see if they were still moving the fire engine had stopped at the gas station on the corner with it's lights on. I turned left again and made a U turn and when I was driving back to the light I saw the fire truck with it's lights off driving down the road, the smoke.

Hope I don't get in trouble if it turns out to be nothing.

you won't get in trouble if thats what you really saw. Since there was smoke, and you said you said you saw smoke, what's the problem?

yeah you won't get in trouble. they'll understand even if their was no fire and they would probably support you calling either way. better safe than sorry.

You should be fine even if there was nothing. Unless, you've called like a dozen times before.

I once called 911 like 4 times in a row because i misread a number and thought it started with 911.

dude, you just told them what you saw. You can't get in trouble if they decide to move out and it's nothing.

I dont see any reason you would get in trouble for calling fire/emergency services in what appeared to be a real problem. Worse you would get is a scolding =\

I thought people are encouraged to report anything suspicious..

there's like 0% chance you get any bad consequences.

Had a guy going around on campus aiming some sort of contraption at people and things. He was acting suspicious so my friend called 911 and SWAT pulled in.

"Put the weapon down!"

The guy drops the thing and raises his arms into the air.

"It's just a camera, I swear!"

Ehh...

The most they'll do is take down your name and phone number. Even if they seem a bit peeved, they'll say you've done the right thing.

We had a good laugh after
