Kittens and cats are good for people like me who just want to make them chase your hand or a toy or a laser pointer. Some really small dogs can be fun to play with because you can make them chase your foot, but bigger dogs aren't amused and get bored after 4 seconds. Dogs are also higher maintenance, but at least they'll go on walks with you and bark like retards.

Dogs easily get attached to you though, especially the larger ones will develop really strong bonds with you. Cats not so much. Dogs are great if you want to get a friend, cats are great if you want to have a fuzzy plaything in your home.

Yeah, but cat burglars are always 20 year old attractive women in skin tight suits. There can't be anything too bad about that.

I have a pretty awesome cat named Tyson. He managed to chase off every other male cat in the neighborhood. He goes in people's homes, eats their pet food and sleeps on their bed. I get complaints about once a month.

He's also rather big, last time I took him to the vet he weighed in at 18 pounds with very little bodyfat. He's like a small dog in size.

Not all dogs protect. A lot of dogs I know just bark their ass off in the middle of the night for nothing. Even ones that do bark at the threat easily get scared over nothing. Sometimes dogs bite other neighbors and bite other dogs which create trouble in the community. You've heard cats doing that? No they just mind their own business and keep to themselves.
