On singleplayer I got to the last chapter, what's the _best_ place to go in the farm with 3 AI's? I got my xbox brring in the corner waiting for me to kick it up and go for it but I can't be bothered to try try try...but I don't want to quit because it's hard to get to the end with just AI allies. I've tried twice and they miserably failed in the farm house and in the kids' room. Where next?

"Oh no, we've drawn Judge Schneider" "Is that bad?" "Well, he's had it in for me ever since I kinda ran over his dog" "You did?" "Yeah...if you replace the word *kinda* with *repeatedly*...and the word *dog* with son"

Wut

I just stayed in the house on top of the stairs. One person cover the stairs and other people cover the bedrooms. If the tank comes it should be easy to kill him fast because he has to run up the stairs while taking shots from all players.

'kids' room'

that phrase scares me

as though... there will be a Witch...

L4D is one of the scariest games to play at night in the dark imo (after Dead Space)

Farm as in, the one with the jungle?

the one with the woods, train tracks, bridge, then finally through the corn field to the farm. Dead Harvest I think it's called.

The thing is that I know the best place to fight the horde off with humans is the barn because you can fuck up the tank AI by walking around the thing beams and it falls off, and you can easily cover the zombie entrances, but the AI seems determined to get surrounded at all points in the game. Would it be best to fight them OUTSIDE?! And stay in a tightly knit phalanx and just hope the AI doesn't suck too much?

What rock, are we all thinking the same level? I am thinking the one where you get rescued in a armored vehicle I think you are talking about the one where you get rescued by a boat?

That's dead toll or whatever. Not the farm.

The map is blood harvest if i'm not wrong. I usually stay at the top of the stairs, although AI sometimes likes to go down and wander off by themselves or in pairs. But I find if you get to the house and go up the stairs quickly, they will follow you and you should be able to defend it.

Sitting at the top of the stairs seems to work fine for my brother and I on Advanced (trying Expert with just two human players was painful). As long as you get upstairs quickly enough after triggering the horde, the AI follows and does a decent job of covering the three upstairs rooms while you cover the stairs.

It may be hard with the tank if they spread out just before he arrives, though.
Think. :)

It is on expert. I just tried the farmhouse again cos FOUR molotovs spawned there, but the AI jumped off the top floor and ran around, dying horribly. I'll try the stairs, could be a good idea, but the enemy can come from like 4 directions cos they can jump over the bannister can't they?

I'm not sure what you mean by the bannister. The stairs bannister shouldn't matter if you're covering the top of the stairs. The enemy can come from four directions though: up the stairs and then through each of the three rooms (one behind the stairs, two to the right of the stairs). The vast majority of them (with the exception of Boomers and Smokers) come from the stairs and the AI tends to stay up there with you, covering the rooms.

In any case, kudos for getting there on Expert with nothing but the AI.
Think. :)

On survivor the best spot is just next to the radio. I don't know what it's like playing with bots but maybe you can try crouching by the gun cabinet and going nuts with the carbine.
You can pick up another weapon instead of reloading which means constant spammage. Then you grab a shotty for the tank.

I have a few places i like to go. Either upstairs in a bedroom/closet/bathroom or somewhere like that. sometimes the AI doesnt follow you so Other than that i like to either go in the gun cabinet room and crouch right next to it (as mentioned above) or in the barn on the top floor (works better if you have live partners ~~)
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

Hmm that's a cool way of thinking about it. Not a bad idea at all! Will try that out, and try out the stairs idea.

Yeah, go to the rocks in the corner of the map. The AI freaks out, and they wont be able to get you.

You're talking about Dead Toll or whatever it's name is! I'm gona try the gun cabinet idea now. PS has anyone got any stats on the amount of damage the shotty does compared to the rifle?

Check out the 3rd part of my video series on how to get the nothing special achievement. There's a spot near the fence I use.

Wow the tank went down fast in the first go! I'll try that spot too if the others don't work, cheers .

I tried the idea in the video...the AI didn't follow me they just stayed in the house and by the time they had activated to move towards me, some zombies were there and surrounding them. I'll try the stairs.

Survival mode seems pretty hard with 3 computer players because they don't stick tightly enough against a corner or will try to heal you despite an incoming wave of zombies. I just don't think the AI experience comes close to matching the human experience.

Anyway, since this is a L4D thread and people are talking about survival; I planned to get gold survival medal on every map but gave up after not being able to find enough good players in the random games I was joining to do this. I have 3 maps left that I need gold on: Lighthouse, Construction Site and Church - I think the hardest 3 survival maps there are. If anyone wants to get gold on these too please let me know.

If you want to beat the finale of Blood Harvest; then here is the best option. Go into the barn beside the farmhouse; then go to the upper level of the barn. Then camp right in the back corner behind the ammo pile. After the rescue vehicle comes, just jump out of the window and into it. GG

Like I already said that doesn't work...the AI refuses to follow you up to the top floor.

What difficulty are you playing on? It shouldn't be a problem to complete unless it's on expert difficulty, in which case yes, it's a pain in the ass.

I play on the 360. When playing with the AI I always stayed on ground floor, right smack in the middle of the house in a spot where I could spin around 180 degrees and pretty easily fire out whichever door they were coming in. I mostly used my akimbo pistols until they ran out of ammo (edit: empty and in need of reloading while infected are still rushing towards you) or the horde got too close, in which case I'd switch to the auto shotgun, bash them away and destroy the entire line of infected.

The reason I stay there is not because it's tactically smart, but because the AI is tactically dumb. It's a defensible spot when you get used to it, and you can come to the aid of any AI pretty easily. Even so, it'll almost certainly take several tries to get it. Also, go outside when the Tank appears. You can bait him, running around the house and hitting him with the shotgun, staying out of his reach all the way. Get back inside once he's dead.

If you can, save a pipe bomb. Once the APC arrives, throw it nearby as a decoy and run to the APC. The AI is notorious for not running for safety, opting to stay outside and die. Let them. You'll beat the campaign anyway.

Oh yeah, and it's a good idea to use Zoey. The Zoey NPC has a habit of picking up a hunting rifle. Good for special infected, not so good for the finale.

Edit x2: It's also a good idea to turn on full captions. It's nice to be able to read the special infected warning/tank warning/rescue warning messages when you're in the middle of fighting.

Yea, I beat the game on the second hardest difficulty. I tried the level from different areas of the house and even some other places. The best place to fight is just running backwards in a corner in sort of a circle. For a few reasons its better to fight outside here. (I used the top/north left area where there are logs and a water tower/mill ). First reason is you can see them running from really far away and take them down way before they get to you. 2nd reason is grenades and molitovs are harder to use in close places. 3rd is the AI is fucking dumb and they fall or get stuck or just do dumb shit. In an open space this doesn't happen so much. and 4th when the tank/humvee comes to pick you up at the end you can sort of follow/walk beside it like soldiers do IRL.
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)
