I tried connecting my girlfriends 500 Gigabyte SEAGATE hardrive to an XBOX360 via USB.

The XBOX360 wouldn't recognize it so after some Googling I realized that it doesn't support NTFS.

I don't want to format my girlfriends hardrive completely to FAT32, since she has a lot of files on it and because FAT32 as I've read is pretty much last generation.

My question is would I be able to use let's say ....

Use GParted to partion a certain amount of my gf's hardrive, and then format it to FAT32 in order to put some movies in there? Would the 360 recognize this partition at all?

Would that work, and note that I will be backing all my girlfriends files on my hardrive so not to initiate a disaster.
EDIT - GParted makes me burn it to a CD, are there any other programs that are just as good, but could be run stand alone on Windows?

BIG EDIT IT WORKED PERFECTLY.

r u sure Xbox360 doesn't support NTFS? I could somewhat understand Xbox not doing so, but the 360? I don't know anything about Xbox'es though

I mean Microsoft has stepped off FAT32 usage since Windows98..

You sure there's not just an update you need to install on your Xbox360?

we are talking about microsoft here. They have no fucking idea what they are doing. So I wouldn't keep your hopes up.

Your best bet would be to conect your 360 with your computer using 'Windows Media Center' I think its called, then connecting your external to your computer and putting the files on to the xbox that way.

I tried to set up Windows Media Center for myself but my windows isn't legit so I couldn't.

You might find that your computers HD needs to be FAT32 to do that too. Which would be ridiculous.

Do this.

Haha this is so funny. Fat32 doesn't support (single) files bigger than 4gb. It would be funny if any game file could take up as much

I also recommend Parted Magic for anyone who doesn't have a Linux distro and wants to partition his/her disk.

There's no Shrink =/ I'm on XP Professional. I also find it completely ridiculousness that it doesn't support NTFS. All I want to do is watch some movies with my gf

Basically you have to install this non-necessary update, and then you can view video files. Thanks guys for all the help =) I always appreciate it.
