This is an amazing manhwa (korean manga) about a fallen undead priest (who is possesed by a demon) trying to get revenge on a fallen angel who killed his love. Well thats the premise of it, but its much deeper than that. This manga has like the best character developement ive ever seen in a comic. ALL the major characters have a story to tell and you will get attached to many of them. The art style is very unique and awesome.
The reason I'm reviving this is because I want to know if anyone has info on the future of this manhwa. The author stopped writing this for some reason. Does anyone know why? Is there any indication that he will pick it up again sometime?
I really wish he continues the story because it cut off at such an interesting point. Currently there are 16 volumes out and I read that he planned the story to be about 30 volumes. I think its worth the read even if you must endure the disapointment that the manhwa is on hold. Its just that good.
so the movie adaptation for this has been in the making for many years and it will come out in a month or something. I am so disappointed. Its ridiculous to even call this movie Priest. It has NOTHING in common. The setting, plot, characters... all changed to something completely different.
Where is the dark, foreboding struggle between man, fallen angels, those who fall victim to the corruption unleashed, and the fallen priest who seeks vengeance at the cost of his humanity?
I understand the plot is so complex and the characters so multidimensional that its hard to condense it into a movie. But seriously.... VAMPIRES? There is no vampires in the original. The protagonist's motivation is to find his kidnapped niece? I mean wtf. The backstory in the manhwa for the main character is so heart wrenching that its totally believable how he turns out to be this mother fucking vengeful undead antihero.
Well anyways thats my rant. I wish the author would continue the manhwa but i think the chances are slim... its been 10 years damnit T_T. The last volume was so epic its like cutting off LOTR during the battle of helms deep.
I'm ashamed that the American media skewed and ruined Ivan Isaac's character with Vampires and faggotry.
Ivan Isaac's is one of my favorite Anime characters, right up there with Alucard and Tetsuo, and to this end I refuse to see or promote this movie at all. It is an abomination of an otherwise amazing story.
That being said, I wish he would finish the damn thing, talk about a way to end it in Vol. 16...

I think this is why I can't really take movies too seriously. I mean I find it pitiful for people to cry to a movie about fictional characters or characters they barely know. "Oh the grandmama died in Up... *sniffle*". Then someone in real life loses a friend or starts crying or feeling pain and everyone's like "I have to go, sorry I can't be here for you, I have a quiz to study for". A murder happens on the streets and everyone walks away or drives by. The next time anyone feels the need to cry at a movie, ask yourself why you didn't help one of your friends when they are in real need. Don't choose to feel empathy for movie characters and not for real people.
Movies are a tool for entertainment, and sometimes for raising awareness. They can be pretty and moving pieces of artwork. But most aren't very complex. They don't raise any strong ideas or go really deep into any concepts. They're designed to entertain the masses, and being complex goes against that purpose. </end rant>
This movie looks entertaining. I might torrent it later, but probably won't. The manga artwork looks disappointing too. It reminds me of trigun in how messy all of the fights look, and how weird all of the dubbed dialogue sounds.
