after hearing kwark brag about how he can play with 90 apm, i tried my best to play with as low apm as possible while still being efficient. the lowest i ever got was 140 and i still felt really slow. nothing dramatic changed with gameplay but just felt sluggish.

no he plays normally and straight up (atleast in the games I've played against him) and is more like 110-130 apm, but he just a very solid player who knows what to do in given situations and does everything cleanly with no spam.

Bratok during the time of the TSL had 180 apm for a A- terran and had like something sick 160-170 EAPM, now though he became faster with around 250 apm. Mondi used to have 180-200 apm for quite a while. These are Zerg and Terran players, I guess if you understand the strategy and metagame as long as you can support the macro and have the micro you can reach far. Hitting B with Toss with around 100-120 apm should be quite possible in PvT I assume, but would be difficult PvZ/PvP especially playing against and with harass intensive styles.

I've played 3 ZvZ games with some last season when I just started off. He lost each game, and he couldn't micro or macro well.
His apm was over 200.
I just don't really understand what these people do with all those actions if they're not really doing anything at all.

Well he just does the logical thing, play straight up against people you think are worse or equal to you and cheese against someone who you are unlikely to beat in a standard game.

All these higher ranked low APM players are always protoss...you like NEVER find any zerg or terrans in the C range...just toss...wtf...
I've seen many D+/C- toss with APMs no more than ~100, but I can't recall any zergs or terrans above D- with less than 120, tbh.

Either that was a brilliant burn or I over analyzed it.
I can believe a 70 apm C- player. In my opinion it's the jump from C- to C/+ where more APM is necessary for the multitasking required. 70 should be enough to basic macro/micro skills, me thinks.

It's just a style. I don't know why people think it's something to attack others over. For example, my APM is usually 350-400. When I lose, people seem to think it's something to insult me over. They say ROFL I RAPED U AND U HAD 350 APM. Yes, so? It's just how I play. My fingers run over my hotkeys alot. Big deal. It's not like I'm consciously TRYING to boost my APM. I don't even think about it. I just use my hotkeys a ton and click a lot.

Yeah, but if you're a virtual D- with 200+ apm, then there's something very, very wrong and you're focusing on the wrong things or just not focusing at all.
I don't care about someone's apm regardless of how good they are, as there are examples of both high and low apm players playing at a very high level, but if you're doing absolutely fucking nothing while apparently doing a lot of actions, it makes you wonder if they actually know what's going on or if they're just doing completely pointless things.

This thread gives me a cool idea. We should have some sort of contests where people play with as low apm as possible and beat good players who have high apm. And post the replays.
