This game is worse than Universe At War.
AI is horrible. Pathing is ok as far as I can tell. Cover system seems to of been implemented in the last five seconds of development. Micro is nearly non-existent. A-move (which is actually just move, the x button) then press Y to activate units special abilities. Unit composition is irrelevant when your cheapest unit is an all purpose killing machine (Marines/Grunts are highly effective anti-infantry/anti-vehicle/anti-air). The only way to hurt someones economy is to destroy their resource generating buildings, which is impossible early game as they have too much health and you don't have enough units.
Play it for some good laughs!

It's gonna be so much fun (hopefully) pwning the shit out of all the total noobs to the RTS genre. There's gonna be completely worthless people coming straight off of Halo 3 it's gonna be so easy to destroy eveyone lol. I already have two build orders as UNSC Cutter. One gets 4 gunner hogs at 1:40 into the game, the other gets like 6 rine squads at the same time. Bet you anything all the noobs who play it are gonna turtle up with turrets and rines while I take the map.

spend some of that time making builds for SC or something haha.

How couldn't you be happy about it? There's a blog going on as we speak about how SC players absolutely dominate all other breeds of life. It's going to be beautiful. I only play games to wipe the floor with noobs ( one of the dozens of reasons I enjoy games that focus on mechanics). And there's pretty much no way to invent a new SC build order at this point, unless maps drastically change.

I haven't played my build against them (cant yet), but rather against myself so to speak. I basically have tested the timings for ever possible build there is and mine gets units out way earlier. You can't FE in this game. You will need units to beat the A.I. player's expansion.

I'm playing it with friends. It's enjoyable enough.
Makes me sad listening to them talk about strategies though... Granted none of them have any idea how to play an rts and they're just playing it because it's halo.
In my opinion it is fun and I'm looking forward to it. It has promise to be entertaining. There is no way a console RTS will ever be competitive so for console RTS I don't take that into account at all. If this was on PC it would be one of the worst RTS's ever made.

why can't you not understand, the average console user doesn't want that.
They want a game that is playable on the couch not with so many accessories. They are trying to bring the genre on consoles and from what I've seen they might have succeeded with halo wars. Granted for the rts veteran the gameplay is lacking and it's way too easy but for the common halo fans I think this could bring new players to appreciate rts in general. The controls are actually pretty good with the xbox360 controller, there are even shortcuts to go back to your bases/units
I don't really like the game, but I can see it sell pretty well when it comes out

I definitely agree with the controls, the only thing missing is a way to select specific units more quickly. There is no efficient way to pick out a small group of a different units from an army

I just think that it would be so frustrating playing RTS with a console controller. Samething (to lesser degree) with FPS. For someone who only plays console I guess it's fine, but to people who used to play those with a mouse...

There is no problem with Halo Wars existing. Not a game I would play though, but I don't own ax xbox anyway.
The biggest problem is the shitstorm of annoying Halo fans that will believe they pwn at RTS for winning a few games in Halo Wars. What Starcraft? That noob game, the graphics are so bad, Halo Wars is so much better.
