I got some headphones a few months ago and started using them on my mp3 player and for my laptop. Everything was seemingly okay; on the highest volume they'd burst my ears so I'd lower the volume.
And then I went home for winter break.
At home I relied exclusively on my headphones so as to not disrupt my family when I played. But the one day I discovered that the music coming from my headphones was soft. Strangely soft. I would tune the volume to the max to remedy this, but even then the volume was much softer than it used to be, even at a lower volume. I thought my hearing was dying or something.
I went to the gym today, blaring my Wondergirls music in my mp3 player, thinking that my hearing was dying and so I needed max volume to listen to it. It was fine, since most people had their own music, and I thought nothing of it. But then when I went to change, I took off my headphones and I heard something blaring. It was my music. I looked at my headphones and realized that the sound was MUCH louder when they weren't in my ears than when they were. And so I asked a friend if he could hear the music and if it was indeed softer in his ears than outside, and he agreed.
And now my headphones are backwards. The music comes out the back of them instead of the part that goes in my ear. It's quite embarrassing now that I think of all the times I blasted my music thinking that others couldn't hear me or that it would be softer because, you know, my ear is in the way of the sound. But it actually wasn't. Now I understand, sort of, why this really bitchy woman was like, "Could you please quiet down your mouse" when I was DOTA-ing in the library during finals week.

Something weird concerning earbuds happened to me as well. I was watching a show on my computer and my headphones gave me a shock (like a static shock) and the right earbud is much louder than it was before or something happened with my eardrum :D. before i had to keep videos around 60% volume on VLC but now if it's above 25% it's to loud and I can hear everything clearly and I have no pain in my ear so I guess something happened with the wiring in my headphones?
btw, it's just as loud in my left ear as it is in my right so i'm pretty sure it's the earbuds.

Great story.
The fact that you haven't found out your headphones were backwards isn't nearly as hilarious as the fact that no one, from the library to the gym, had ever pointed it out to you all this time.

haha, well i didn't mean that i was wearing them backwards, i meant that the music was coming out of the back of the headphones and not the part you put in your ear.
i guess i should have said earphones.

well i was lipsyncing to the song just to piss them off
my friends are like WTF ARE YOU EARHACKING (because they were trying to talk to eachother about their 'strategy')
after the game ended, they persisted that i was cheating because i took my headphones off when they gg'ed.
