Today I witness one of the weirdest things I have ever saw. It all started when my dad picked me up from school because I had semester exams. We were driving until we reached to a turn to the left. So my dad hit the breaks so he can wait for a chance to turn left, and then... booom I leaped out and nearly smacked the front window of the car. Apparently someone retardedly slammed into the back of our car. So I was like oh great! Federer's match will start in like 30 minutes, but I had no idea what would happen next.

My dad steps out of the car to look at a drunk driver smoking a cigarette. The guy starts shouting please let me fix this for you don't call the police. So my dad says "Just calm down, Ill call the police in order for them to figure stuff out". The guy gets out of his car and start swearing at my dad, showing saying my dad doesn't know who he is, that my dad will regret it. My dad just smiles and plays along like nothing happened.

20 minutes later, the cops came and looked at what just happened. It was clear that that drunk dude was the one who slammed into us, thus he should be fined. But, he goes up and calls his dad which turns out to be a retired police officer. But he seemed to be a respectful man and tried to sort it out saying " Would you please forgive my idiotic son, and take this money to fix your car?", my dad agrees and we get into the car and drive home.

My dad explains to me that if he had said to the police that he wants a report, then they would fine the guy 1,500 dollars plus he will go to jail for a month because he was drunk driving. So infact, he and his dad were both trying to stop my dad from doing so.

All I can say guys, is that this thing happened like 2hrs ago, and it was one of the weirdest situations I have ever been in.

LOL good stuff

How do they know how much the damage is worth though?

Wow...that is unbelievably strange...and bizarre...

ahahaha. I can't even believe that...

Somehow this reminds me of one time we got hit by some dumbass going backwards through a parking lot as we were pulling out.

We were a group of college students in a few cars, and he was some middle-aged guy in a suit and tie driving what was probably a leased Escalade.

It was so dumb...the guy started yelling about how it was our fault and that he was gonna sue. My friend (whose car it was) is a messy fellow and took like ten minutes to find his insurance info. The guy started wailing about how he was gonna go to jail, and threatened to call the cops.

I was like, "LOL WOW...just give him five minutes...look at how messy his stuff is."
"Hey man, I don't have any shit with you, back off, kid."

That got me angry...the guy was swearing at me and acting all tough and threatening...

"Alright man, call the cops. You're only going to piss him off for forcing him out of his dunk'n donuts over this..."

Cops came...was obviously annoyed...told them to exchange insurance info, and ran off. I took photos of the guy's license plate and the damage to his car. After a while, he drove off without a word, and we went ahead and did our own shit.

That shit was so dumb...

...sorry for derailing...haha.

We were on holiday in california and this almost happened to us, some dumb woman was reversing across the exit of a car park (we were stationary, waiting to pull out). I doubt her blindspot was big enough to cover a large family car. Luckily she was going really slowly so there was time to sound the horn, her reaction was to slam down on the accelerator pedal and probably into her next accident.
No I'm never serious.

....I woulda just called the cops and hire a lawyer...You woulda received way more money(assuming your not receiving nothing extra besides the cost of repair to the vehicle). But thats meh...More like the former police officer hustled you guys.

Edit: But that is kind of your father to not let the guy go through the situations he woulda had to proceed.

Reminds me of the time my mother's car was total'd while it was in park by some dumbass who immediately drove off. Only people noticed it had happened within minutes and were able to actually follow a trail of leaking oil from the accident to him in his freshly ruined truck. Turns out he was also the son of a retired police officer; and since we didn't have any eye witnesses of the entire fucking thing, despite the trail of oil to him directly they filed it as the car had been stolen and he had just found it at this gas station and recovered it without a fight or anything, but those darned thieves who did the hit and run (because the son of a police officer is just incapable of such an act) got away.

The best part? They originally filed the vehicle as being stolen at 7 p.m. of that day. The accident happened at noon. When they realized their mistake, the police department claimed it was just a typo and changed it for them.

The amount of bull shit those people put us through was mind boggling. Especially since he wouldn't even meet us himself, his parents handled everything for him. The icing on the cake is that the guy was 42 at the time he did this, still living at home, still having his parents do everything for him.

But this story doesn't have anything strange to it, imo
I once cut the way of a police vehicle in an intersection, even though it had priority :-S
