Why is everybody going crazy about the logitech optical mini and the samsung DT35? After reading emucxg's thread about his buddy opening an electronics store and wondering whether or not he should sell the samsung dt35, I was really surprised to see how many people would buy this old keyboard.

I really don't believe that these two are the best mouse and keyboard available. Yes, most of the pro-gamers use them, but I believe the reason isn't b/c the keyboard and mouse themselves are the best designed, but probably b/c they are simply what most of pro-gamers are accustomed to using. I bet these these two are used the most @ PC bangs, so the pro-gamers just have stuck w/them.

I find it kind of funny that so many foreigner players want this keyboard + mouse b/c it is claimed to be "THE BEST", however I haven't read what exactly makes it superior over other products.

They're cheap, reliable, and does what you need them to do.

Agreed, this doesn't quite fit the bill for a placebo effect, more like we are just copying what we see progamers use as we automatically assume them to have more knowledge in regards to equipment to use.

I mean it could be placebo in the way that when you use it you think you are more gosu there fore winning more games. But I doubt that would happen

Keep in mind that poll you put up on the other thread is going to be extremely biased towards people who are more prone to buying DT-35's because people who follow progaming know that's the kind of keyboards the progamers use.

I doubt people who don't follow progaming would be as willing to buy one of those.

I don't think there's really that many. It's just when a thread like that appears they all post in it and anyone who's not interested just ignores it.
No I'm never serious.

$30 for a basic keyword is not cheap, just search keyboard on amazon, you'll find dozens of keyboards just look the same for half the price

If the progamers use them, then they must work alright. However, i'm pretty sure that most pro gamers would also agree that they arn't good because of the keyboard- they're good because they practice and play and think.

Bisu could probably beat me mouse only, and nal_ra (I think) loved playing with a ball mouse. Whatever they want, and you can pick whatever keyboard/mouse you want.

I got the logitech optical mini because its about £5 and I needed a new mouse, so I thought why not? If it sucks its only £5

anyway I stopped using it after about an hour, it was pretty shit, hard to hold and poor tracking on my mouse pad (IMO) (qck mini) so I've went back to my microsoft optical mouse (using this more because I'm so used to it than it being a good mouse)

tl;dr optical mini isn't all its cracked up to be

Duh, us sc players like simplicity. and if it's cheap, durable, and easy to get that makes it all the easier.

The Dt35 has very responsive, easy to press, quiet keys. This is also a big plus.
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

Well I bought fatal1ty mouse (long time ago) it cost around 36 dollars (hefty prize) though rebate of 40 dollars so I got back 4 dollars. It lasted 4 months, now I know why they sold bad profit :D

Iono...I'm thinking of picking one up because it's a normal-sized keyboard (my logitech g11 is too fucking big to transport), is known for being playable with for SC, has hangul on it, and is cheap. $30 isn't TOO bad for a keyboard, and I hardly use any of the extra functions on this thing anyway.

Equipment isn't too much of an issue, though. People will play better with whatever they're used to.

i've always blindly bought the steelseries stuff because the build quality is really nice, i'm sure all that mumbo jumbo they use to sell it might be true, but i just like the look/quality

price sucks though

Coming from FPS games where mouse/skates/pad are a much bigger deal, I'd say there definitely is a placebo effect. The mini is such an extreme difference that it may be different, but in terms of general mouse tweaks it's usually just in your head. Even if there is a true improvement, such as with overclocking a USB port, the difference is physically minuscule.

I have a mini optical, it's pretty good except it's missing a mouse skate. I took the weight out too. Yeah, it's not amazing, but it's light, fast, and small - which makes it comfortable for a fingertip grip. I do not think I would be worse if I had a Logitech G3, or a Razer Salmosa or another similar small mouse.
