1) Don't ask from -> Reason:
Most likely the answer is fake anyways. Secondly when the answer is "Korea" its a mindgame from the start. You will think that the guy is gosu and you have no chance anyway. Just play like you would play any opponent and enjoy the game and try to concentrate and win.
2) Don't play all-in all the time -> Reason:
iCCup is your chance to try out strategies. Obviously you can practice all-in too since every good player most likely has a all-in move which he can pull, but not all the time. I'm not trying to "remove" cheesers / all-in users with this, but you will most likely gain a lot of experience if you practice builds you can always use. For example: My 1 Fact / 1 Port is really weak and I train it on iCCup with a smurf-ID, because no one will look at my stats, but I gain experience.
3) If you are emotional, you should smurf -> Reason:
There are always people who will look at your stats and trashtalk you when you "only" hit B with like 80-40, because they don't realise that its not stats that make you good. For example a German player "ash.Kolll" has, as it seems a lot of time on his hands and played ~800 games last season. He's on 300 now. He won against Clon (Airforce ACE) and he beat Phoenix66 2-0. Now thats what you get from experience.
:-)! Thats it from my side, feel free to add your own things!

France is my favorite answer, but I also use India a lot.

I never ask, if they say Korea I always joke with them about how it's an instant lose for me. I had one korean guy tell me he was chobo then roll me something fierce.

Koreans always go for "me chobo;;" because for Korean standards, they most likely are.

Agree on everything, especially smurfing.
Always when I embarassingly lose to someone I can just say to myself: "Nobody will ever know it was you, now go and create yourself a new account"

Smurfs are great
No one can laugh at me over TL when no one knows my iccup ranking! Ahahaha!

1.) Type gg when you lose a match. It shows some class and is better then pouting or being mad at losing.
2.) If your embarrassed about your record clear your stats.
3.) Learn to fucking scout early, especially Terran who don't bother walling and cry about getting cheesed.
4.) If you meet a zerg who is a grade or two above you and joins your game, expect he is cheesing newbies with all ins.
5.) If you meet a zerg player who is on the verge of getting to the next grade, expect cheese once again.
6.) If your on tilt or tired, take a break else your play will definitely be effected by frustration and fatigue.
7.) Concentrate on builds versus protoss, there's a shit lot of them and if your good versus the majority, your good on Iccup.
8.) Learn how to defend versus dark templars. They do it A LOT.
9.) Learn how to defend the most common cheeses from each race.

i usually answer that i'm from endor, the koreans on late at night don't seem to get it though o.o, oh and remember, when some zerg asks "from" usually they are 4 pooling you

I just say Uruguay most of the time if asked where I am from.

I completely agree with 1,2,3,7,8,9, although out of 40 games I've only been cheesed 4 times. I don't get 4 and 5 though.

I tend to say Southpole. Sometimes I see friends from same place and sometimes people from northpole :D. I bet research guys are testing pings around Poles.

I completely agree with 1,2,3,7,8,9, although out of 40 games I've only been cheesed 4 times. I don't get 4 and 5 though. Say I am playing protoss, I am at D level and some big shot C- level zerg decides to join my game. Now why would he do this considering his points gain for winning the game is lessen so much? We can logically assume, I can expect some kind of 4 pool or 3 hatch zergling allin.
I guess if you played few hundred games on Iccup you get use to some psychological intuitions. Like why do you think people ask where you are from? They don't fucking care where your from they just expect your korean, or not korean to tell your skill level half the time.
|
i never ask "from?" but everyone else does... this protoss guy once asked me...and then said he was from poland. So i was thinking "oh yeah D level foreigner protoss ezmode"....the guy proceeded to DT drop me ~10 times and take the whole map and raped me. Then later when i was checking his iccup page i saw that he was korean....
bastard

Any D+ / D / C- player wants to play with my Toss? I would practise PvZ and PvT, PM me if intrrested.
i never ask "from? "

ot: sorry naruto, i obsed some games of kolll few days ago and he was horrible. he's just like any other "new" zerg in germany, 2hatch muta, 3hatch hydra all in shit. if he doesnt win within the first 5-10 minutes he can insta leave.

Don't know but against Phoenix it was a 26 minute long game :o!?! -_-; ... I might be mistaken

lol at people leaving because their opponent is from Korea and lol at people pretending to be from Korea. Just tell them where you're from -_-

If I want to look like a noob I say Iran, Irak or Turkey If I want to look gosu I say Korea or China.
|
I usually answer honestly to the "from?" question, and I don't really get affected by their answer. I mean, a D+ is still a D+, I shouldn't be afraid of the korean A++ in disguise just because he said what country he's from.
|
I always say I'm froma vagina and as you can see from my sig I'm not much of an emotional player.

i say i'm from armenia
the worst part about people asking "WHERE FROM!?!" is that it seems half the time they're expecting a certain answer (either from korea or not from korea) and if you answer incorrectly they leave. it's a real pain in the ass
|
my flag on iccup was korea since i'm korean, so i actually said im from korea but it changed to usa flag
but i still say im from korea :D
|
Sometimes asking where they're from helps. Yesterday a guy said he was from Belarus, (I generally assume people are telling the truth), and it boosted my confidence because, no offense, but I bet I can beat the best sc player that lives in Belarus.
Another tip: Having a gosu record may be good for the ego but it makes it hard to get games cuz if trying to get opponents in channel they will dodge you. Get a terrible record and people will be eager to play you even from 1 step up ranks because they figure they can most likely beat you so it's worth the lower reward/higher risk.

Corea isn't really incorrect spelling.

isnt Corea the name before Japan changed it to Korea?

Why do people ask where you're from anyway? It hapens in all sorts of games and I never understood it...

Sometimes people ask it just as their units are coming into your base or some other cheese moment to try and make you type instead of play.
And sometimes just so they can have a friendly chat about whatever they can think of related to your country.
On December 30 2008 03:51 mel_ee wrote: isnt Corea the name before Japan changed it to Korea? "The name "Korea" derives from the Goryeo period of Korean history, which in turn referred to the ancient kingdom of Goguryeo. Merchants of the Middle East called it Cauli (from the Chinese pronunciation), which then came to be spelled Corea and Korea. Korea is now commonly used in English contexts by both North and South Korea."
Both are acceptable really I guess because the country's name is supposed to be in Korean not English.

Funny, I made a new ID for this season JUST so that people won't keep asking me if I'm Korean.
It's fucking annoying.
|
I either answer China, or USA...
howeveer sometimes they also ask "Highest rank?" , in that case i just usually lie and respond "i'm a new player this season", and then respond back with a "how about you?". That way i give them nothing, and they tell me their highest rank.

I always agree to a re if the person asks before leaving, whether I intend to play him again or not. I've had too many people disc hack immediately after I said no to a re.

I always respond "Canada" when they ask where I'm from...when they ask what my highest rank is I generally stay silent. I don't want any preconceived notions of my (in)ability to play this game influencing their strategies.

Explain!

he is always talking shit about being 13, playing for just 7 months blablabla. if you watch his replays, you can see some oldschool elements of play, which he would never execute if he learned bw in the past 7 months. he asked some things about IP and so on, clans he could never know.
also some of his mates in ash asked him about aka which he refused to reveal. its just obvious, but i dont care at all lol. his level isnt rly high, just all in, losing to anyone who is prepared for that kind of play.
but i wont say he got the talent to be good one day. especially when massing games like that. but i doubt he really learns from all those games, cause he, like already mentioned, only plays 1 or maybe 2 builds per matchup and never ever adapts.
