Back then I reached C1 on WGTour without much problem but I guess it looks newbish nowadays, e.g. my usage of the 2 reavers parked outside the terran base and delaying his push was novel while nowadays that is nothing special.

I kind of envy you that you were around five years ago to play starcraft competitively. Now a days you have to [as a new comer] learn 50 things as quickly as possible before you can even begin to get your ass handed to you for months on end. It's quite discouraging. I agree with you, it's definitely discouraging...but that's what makes SC, SC. There's no other game like this, with both as steep and long a learning curve. And if we ever get too discouraged, we can always take a break and just enjoy watching some pro games. The skill level is this high because of the pro scene in Korea, and pro scene exists because the game requires the nurturing of such skill. IMO, no other RTS will ever compare to BW, nor have the potential to be played as competitively. I've been spoiled by this game...I can't play any other RTSs now...lol.
