I think you were too scared to admit it, but he sweet talked and charmed your card and pin from you with the promise of fellatio and cotton candy.
There goes the first chapter in my book.
To the op, so sorry man that is terrible. I've heard about those card reader things but just in an offhand way, is it like an attachment that is added to an atm/pinpad setup or is it software ... or did you not ask the bank.
I hope you get our money back!

this was on the news sometime ago, people had their bank cards copied and money stolen. lesson learned, don't use your bank cards/ credit cards at gas stations, other unsafe locations, cover the keypad while entering the pin.

What the fuck are you talking about Yang? How does being Asian correlate to aggression.

They most know it is fraudulent because they reduced my withdrawal limit to 0 before they called me...
Lesson Learned: Do not use bank card at any Gas Station. Haha, seriously, everyone I know who works at a gas station is such a thief. They lift cigarettes all the time, too miserable about how they ended up working the graveyard shift for minimum wage to care if they ever get caught.

after reading your recent blogs I've come to the conclusion that it's time to start working on life skills +D

Life skills?
Xeris, you can be really selfish and annoying at times. Show some symapthy or something but don't tell me to work on my life skills? Aren't you the one who tried to steal a text book and got caught so maybe you should keep your mouth shut.
I really don't use bank cards at gas stations. I guess one time I was in a hurry before work and I used it and they got my pin card. My limit is 2000 because I sometimes buy plane tickets/pay rent and other stuff. I don't know how my bank figured it was fraudulent. I've taken 800 + 700 at one time from a bank machine and no problem but someone uses this fake card and takes 800/800/400 and right away my bank reduces my withdrawal limit to 0 and calls me. I was really really impressed by CIBC. They knew money was being stolen [or suspected] before I even found out and froze by bank card which stops me from losing more money. I wouldn't have known till Thursday/Friday and by that time I would be out of $8000 - $10,000. I really respect CIBC and will never ever switch banks. I've been with them for 6 years and hopefully will be with them for another 60 years.

I never said anything about myself being a saint or having all the answers. How does that make me selfish? In fact I acknowledge my faults quite often.
lol.

My understanding is that it's not very sustainable to conduct credit card fraud at a physical location, because CC companies aren't going to keep accepting transactions from places that have attempted fraud before. CC companies have a lot more money to lose than you do, and they're going to raise hell if a store (gas station or otherwise) is trying to rip off its customers.
Also, how was the $2000 stolen? Was it billed to buying something or an ATM? Should change your PIN if that was leaked. Otherwise, the lack of a valid signature on the transactions should make it very easy for you to cancel the charges.

They used a duplicated card and stole my PIN from camera. They can't steal any more cause my card has been canceled.

But it seems to be cheaper for banks to cope with the fraud than to replace the current passive cards by smartcards. And even when using smartcards some attacks are still possible. Yeah the real problem is those age old magnet stripe cards. Luckily they are being replaced by chip cards now bank after bank and country after country.
Unfortunately we in Germany (and Canada apparently?) are still very much behind on the upgrade.
Oh and Xeris: Life skills would be not using the card at all I suppose? There is practically nothing you can do against a manipulated card reader.
Edit 2: My card was actually copied at a manipulated ATM. Luckily the bank noticed this right away and my card was blocked before anything could be stolen. Still, those stupid magnet stripe cards are just so easy to copy you really can't do anything about it.
