They most know it is fraudulent because they reduced my withdrawal limit to 0 before they called me... Lesson Learned: Do not use bank card at any Gas Station. | ||

I have my main balance attached to one and use it for stuff I know is legit (eg Safeway, Trader Joes, ect). I have a 2nd card with like about 100$ on it and use that one for stuff that there could be a chance its not legit (eg everything on teh interwebz, some random irl stuff). | ||

My bank told me that even with a copied card, they cannot access my bank account unless they know my 4digit pin number. I was told that most frauders also have a camera installed in the ceilings so they can watch you input your pin number. If you cover the numbers as you enter it, they wont be able to see your pin. Luckily nothing was removed from my account. Sadly, a week later, someone frauded my brothers Visa card, that he had used for some WoW related thing, and they ended up spending $25,000 off of his card towards things like a big screen TV etc. Luckily for him it was proven stolen, and he did not have to pay it off lol. | ||

Aren't you the one who tried to steal a text book and got caught so maybe you should keep your mouth shut. I really don't use bank cards at gas stations. I guess one time I was in a hurry before work and I used it and they got my pin card. My limit is 2000 because I sometimes buy plane tickets/pay rent and other stuff. I don't know how my bank figured it was fraudulent. I've taken 800 + 700 at one time from a bank machine and no problem but someone uses this fake card and takes 800/800/400 and right away my bank reduces my withdrawal limit to 0 and calls me. I was really really impressed by CIBC. They knew money was being stolen [or suspected] before I even found out and froze by bank card which stops me from losing more money. I wouldn't have known till Thursday/Friday and by that time I would be out of $8000 - $10,000. I really respect CIBC and will never ever switch banks. I've been with them for 6 years and hopefully will be with them for another 60 years. | ||

Also, how was the $2000 stolen? Was it billed to buying something or an ATM? Should change your PIN if that was leaked. Otherwise, the lack of a valid signature on the transactions should make it very easy for you to cancel the charges. | ||
