So i stupidly went to some warez website to try to get a cd-key for some program that apparently cleans your pc. Next thing I know my anti-virus (McFee) detects a trojan and I can't delete/move nor clean it. 1 minute late my computer restarts by itself, and when I log on to XP, my windows defender is gone and replaced by some ridiculously lame spyware called "antispyware XP 2009". I google for ways to remove it, but whenever I visit any websites that has to do with anti spyware, my firefox says page not found, I uninstalled a re-installed firefox, same thing, I uninstalled firefox and installed opera, same thing again. Websites load really slow for me now.
I go to microsoft's website to try to download windows defender again, it wants to validate my windows, but then the validation tool window never pops up. Right now I'm downloading a torrent of avg antispyware from piratebay but its going at like 10kb/sec.
None of the webpages that tells you how to remove the spyware works for me because they all fucking want you to download something else, I can't download anything else that would fix this because the spyware fucking mindcontroled my firefox. What can I do, I really don't wanna have to re-install windows.

Is this beyond the capability of lavasoft's adaware and spybot?

Spyware Dcotor is the best if you can get a copy of it. TrendMicro's online scanner is decent and there's a bunch of good free AV/spyware things like Avast! and A squared. Make sure when you get your computer clean, you install Noscript in Firefox. It's pretty much the most useful Firefox plugin ever.

btw, always test any files you download here first.

Sometimes the anti-spyware progs just don't work. If you are at least a semi-experienced computer user you can go into safe mode and manual delete them. Just write down the process names that you know are spyware.
Of course don't do this if you a newb a computers...you'll end up deleting rundll or something.
You can also try to run the anti-spyware progs in safe mode, it will sometimes delete them there because they won't be active while you are in safe mode(it usually doesn't work to delete stuff while the file is running, ie being used)

It also allows you to record what the current settings are, so if you're a member of a more computer oriented forum (probably not this one) you can copy/paste some of the logs that hijackthis generates, and they can find your problem.
Personally, my solution is to reformat always. But that's not usually practical for most people >.>
