So my English Lit. teacher gave us this phrase "We are stardust" and were supposed to do a one page report by tommorow. There really is no wrong answer, and this is supposed to spurr up my imagination.
So far I got: 1) Being superior to others cuz your not regular dust. 2) Relating to the movie "Stardust" 3) That when you die, you are a star, and what you leave behind, instead of ashes(which is kind of like dust) you leave "stardust"
I would say that it symbolyses how insignificant we are, and that after we die, were basically non-existent. Even if our memory lives on for a few hundred years, we will be forgotten eventually. There is so much symbolysm that you could pull from that.
There are billions of stars, and star dust is like trillions of small pieces of stars. So if were are stardust then were nothing compared to the universe.
We are all formed from the same elemental material. The Big Bang created all the matter that ever was and ever will be, and we can trace our lineage back through the ages of animals, back to the very beginnings of life, before the creation of earth, to the very foundation of the Universe. All that we see and all that we can see shares this common lineage, so maybe we are not so different in the end.

Yeah i agree 100% with this.
In addition I would say that even though we humans are always differentiating between eachother based on race, culture and beliefs, in the end we're all made of the same materia that came from the stars.
the capital S on Stardust makes it sound like some new energy drink.
if i give it a lower case s then i'd be interested in the "any atom more massive than hydrogen was created by nuclear fusion in the core of a star or planet" line. i think it's pretty mind boggling.

this doesn't make sense to me cuz isn't stardust part of this amazing universe? if he's gonna go this route, he should say how amazing we are when you consider us a part of the universe. "we are stardust" is a phrase about unity/harmony/equality. it's really really odd to me to take that phrase and talk about humans being set apart from the stars/planets/universe

if you do that, make sure you post the paper
i can imagine that...something like 'we are all stardust...even starcraft is made of stardust...which bring me to the topic of sair/reaver on andromeda'
or you could just go with the usual 'which bring me to the topic of how easy protoss is...'

"unity/harmony/equality" Hmm i didn't get that. I will try to explain it better.
The first thing i thought about, when i read this was the fact that when i stare up at the stars at night, I sort of imagine myself zooming out on myself, like in Google Earth sort of and just keep zooming out and out. It just makes me feel so insignificant. Stardust is way way way smaller then humans and if we are Stardust, then that would mean were even more insignificant.
Or you could think of this scientifically, which also explains my way of thinking pretty nicely. If a star were to blow up, and become stardust it would also create a black hole and suck that stardust into it. It has been theoriesed, that Black Holes are a portal to another universe, and if so that would mean if you are stardust, then you are completely seperate from the known universe. So i don't think it means Unity/Harmony/Equailty.

hahahah, omg, you have so much more potential than me. Seeing as how this is my first AP English class, ya'll have better ideas than me. Somehow, ya'll make me feel like stardust.

Whoa, we don't have to write essays like this for AP Lit, we focus entirely on writing essays analyzing works of literature that prep for the AP Exam. This sounds more like an SATish essay, or maybe just a starter essay to kick off the year.

This is just like a prep essay, somewhat laid back, no wrong answer. Darn AP exam is gonna kill me, and don't get me started with the SAT, I take like 5 hours to write a 2 page essay, no way i'm gonna get write something thats crazy deep in 25 minutes.
