So everyone's seen the White_Ra FPVODs, educational, as well as Vo-one's translation, equally elucidating.

In the first 11 seconds, Ra does a slash command that gives him the latency of the two players.

The video's kind of unclear and I can't really make out the 2 characters that white_ra types do check latency.

I googled and couldn't figure out what it was, and I couldn't find it anywhere on the Iccup page.

Does anyone know of this command and how it works?

So how does one decided on latency based on the ping? White Ra goes on to change the latency (based on the ping numbers, I'm guessing) from low to high.

Probably just by what he considers high.

Like I would say 0-400=low 401-700=high 701+ = extra high.

I don't know, just using that as an example.

ping measures ping to the server, not ping to you (90% sure of this)

so a high ping doesnt necessarily mean they will lag against you

Also be very sure you want to change the latency settings when you do on iccup. You can not go back to LAN Latency once you mess with the settings. Big reason why many laggy zergs on iccup will quit or call me BM if i change latency (since they can not go back to LAN lat, and therefore muta micro is not done)

edit: when i say 'laggy zergs' i just mean a zerg player who lags. Not a smear against the zerg race

I remember reading that Chaos didn't work like this, as in Low High and Extra High are all new and different values depending on the latency you chose. Confirm / refute?

extra high on chaos is better than low latency with no chaos

In case of no packet loss the lower bound for the Latency should be half the ping to the other player not to the server. I don't know how close you can come to this bound with SC.
Also the ping command probably gives only the ping of every player to the ICCup server, not to the player.

The ingame latency settings should habe nothing to do with LAN Latency. The two Latencies multiply.
