Cheese...
It comes in all sorts of flavors, shapes and sizes.
Wheels of cheese, wedges, you name it.

Wikipedia defines cheese as follows:
Cheese is a food made from milk, usually the milk of cows, buffalo, goats, or sheep, by coagulation. The milk is acidified, typically with a bacterial culture, then the addition of the enzyme rennet or a substitute (e.g. acetic acid or vinegar) causes coagulation, to give "curds and whey".[1] Some cheeses also have molds, either on the outer rind (similar to a fruit peel) or throughout.

But, as yummy as it is...its kinda boring to read about.
However, there is a specific brand of cheese that I would like to discuss and that is of course Starcraft cheese!
The manliest and most awesome cheese of all.

What is cheese?
Cheese is sometimes considered to be any 'all-in' strategy.
Or maybe just a strategy that is a big risk often resulting in big gains.

I, however have a different view on cheese that I think and hope atleast some others hold.

Now I have only been following the proscene for about 9 months. But even in the short time that I have been here I have noticed that players are getting greedier and greedier.
One base play used to be standard, low econ games were the main stream thing and yes I'm sure this was atleast partly due to maps. These days it seems like if a player doesn't fast expand they get labeled as a cheese rusher.

This is an injustice to the game of starcraft!!!

Take (Z)July vs Best as I'm sure it is fresh in everyone's mind. Was (Z)July cheesing Best with his all in strategys? Some say yes, some say no. But as some TL poster said
"You are not guaranteed a mid-game just for showing up!"

Yes!! Oh God yes, one million times yes!!!

If a low econ rush strategy like a 2 hatch hydra break of something of that sort is cheese then so is 14 CC.
Think about it... It is taking a big risk for huge gains.

Anything goes in a game of starcraft, and players should not be looked down upon because they don't conform to a macro style and don't give nice long standard games.

The current trend of all this unpunished fast expanding has lulled us into a distorted view of what is cheese and what exploiting a weakness in a build order is.
I believe we will soon see a shift into more low econ play as all these fast expand builds are getting punished.

**SPOILERS BELOW TURN BACK IF YOU ARE BEHIND ON YOUR STARCRAFT WATCHING**
+ Show Spoiler +

(T)Flash vs (T)fOrGG, a hot topic...
(T)Flash went for greedy fast expanding builds with a late scout over and over and (T)fOrGG had prepared awesome builds that bent (T)Flash over a desk and, well we'll stop that analogy there.
(T)Flash and Best, learn your lessons well you need to have a well rounded game in order to compete with those who have a drive to do whatever it takes to win.

This isn't some wierd duel: 10 supply at daybreak or something. This is a strategy game any it doesn't matter how you win.

So please stop breaking our your big cheese stamp at the drop of a hat! These super star players should know the risks that come with their fast expanding and maybe soon they will learn from their mistakes.

Thanks for reading, hopefully its alright...
I ended up staying up till 7am watching the MSL then went to bed so I'm on 4 hours, which isn't too bad.

And one more thing...I'm throwing this post to (Z)Jaedong so that Lecaf has a better chance to win the MSL...for all that is holy! People. Drop it!

forgg played incredibly intelligently by choosing those builds, as he took the dropship play out of flash's hands, which would have been forgg's weakest area that could be exploited. He tossed out his macro advantage and called flash's bluff for forgg's penchant for going extremely greedy himself and showed off the unit control and precision he's clearly been working on over the last 12 months.

His multitasking is still lacking and his dropships are still the worst in the game today, but he's come a long long long ways since shinhan 3 osl.

props to you Park Ji Su.

July vs Best didn't look at all cheese to me.
Game 1: July 5 pooled, but he wasn't all-in committed. He had a backup plan and was ready to play the game out, shown by the fact that he stopped making lings after the first 6. It seems his game plan was only to stop a fast expansion by Best and then play the rest of it out. Now it may seem risky that July's strategy depended on Best to fast expand. But then again, isn't Best's fast expand which depends on July not doing anything earlier than a 9pool a risk, too? Besides, I would put Best slightly ahead, or at least even with July, after defending the 5pool so well. It was his fruitless proxy that cost him the game.

Game 2: July drone drilled, but only after he scouted how fast Best teched. He knew Best's goon popped out so early that the 2nd zealot wasn't build, so all Best had to defend with was 1 zealot and a goon. At that point, a drone drill mass ling attack had much more chance of success than failure, so I wouldn't call that cheese or risky.
