This game is kind of weird. I wanna say its almost like Poker and Blackjack combined but not really. It is a betting game can be played limit or no limit.
*Note this game might work well as a drinking game too.
Setup: Each player gets dealt 7 cards (which they may look at). Dealer plays 7 'flop' cards face down. (deck is uneeded after this) *Alternate: You can just 'burn & turn' like typical holdem if you want instead. Left of dealer starts the betting OR person with most cards in hand (in case of tie, whom ever is closer to the dealer's left).
Point System: Every card is worth its rank 3 is 3 points, 10 is 10, etc. for J,Q,K they are each worth 10 and Ace can be either 1 or 11.
How To Win: The goal is to have the highest or lowest score at the showdown (or just get everyone to fold).
Gameplay: Basically what you do is just like holdem you flip over 'streets' and make bets accordingly.
How To Play: Everyone antes pre-deal. First to act can place a bet, raise, check, or fold to the player on their left and so forth back to the dealer who is last to act. After pot is squared up dealer flips over the first street. Now whatever rank that card is everyone who has a card with the same rank must 'chuck'em' throw it face up into a pile.
After everyone has thrown away their cards the person to the left of the dealer (and) with the most cards is first to act (may check or bet). Once the pot is squared up, flip the next card and repeat for the nest 5 streets.
At the end of the game you must take chip(s) or whatever to signify if you are playing high or low (if its not obvious). 2 chips in 1 hand means playing high, 1 chip means low, 3 chips means both (which is pretty hard to do in this game).
High splits the pot with the low.
If you have Quads in your hand you will never chuck them because there are no more of them in the deck obviously. So that can be good for the high. Trips and pairs are obviously better odds of you keeping them as well. (but the poker hands don't matter, just points)

Its kind of obvious who's playing high and whos playing low because you can see how many cards they have in their hands and what was discarded (not always true though), but there is math and other skill involved as well.
obviously if you have no cards you are playing the low and will split the pot with the high (unless they all fold lol?). If you tie with someone who also has no cards for the low you split the split. So if there is a High, You-Low (no cards), and another Low (no cards) and there is 40 in the pot, High takes 20, you both take 10.
Same goes for ties in points for both high and low.
Best possible High hand is AAAA(10*,10*,10*) For a total of 74 points. *Can be T,J,Q,K
Best Possible Low hand is No cards for a score of 0. (best possible with full 7 cards is AAAA222, which equals 10)

Sounds interesting. Have you had difficulty with attention span while explaining it to friends? It seems like most of the people I know would get distracted half way through

Sounds fun, but what do you do if there's only 4 players? At most there can only be 6 players too so you can't have as many people as hold'em, but again it sounds fun.
How does the high and low thing work, Can you use aces for both high and low? Say you have just 4 aces can you go for 4 AND 44? or just one? And what if you play for high, but end up winning low? Does it not count? Or if there are two players both playing for high, does the lower one automatically get the low stack or does the high get the whole stack? OR what if one went low and one went high and both were wrong? How does that work?

It seems like most of the people I know would get distracted half way through I just learned it yesterday, had it explained. Didn't understand half the shit they were saying figured it out completely after 2nd street. Ended up winning the hand too had AAKK7(32) or something. Was funny cause I tried to go all in on 5th street and everyone had less cards, they were like "What are you doing, you got to bet more reasonable than that!", So I'm like whatever the max bet is I'll bet that then.
It was humorous in the fact of like "Hey, You're not playing fair!" because they didn't like my aggression.
Ended up betting 4 bucks and getting called by the low and splitting 14 dollar pot or something.
