Is that a correct simple equation? Because we did a prac with K, Na, Mg and Ca so I'm guessing that it would produce a liquid and hydrogen gas but what about Sodium and Potassium I don't think they were ions in the prac. uggghhh I'm so not with it this afternoon.

2Rb(s) + H2O -> Rb2O(s) + H2(g) However, I think you'll actually find that what actually happens is: 2Rb(s) + 2H2O(l) -> 2RbOH(aq) + H2(g) And I'm not quite sure what you're asking about sodium and potassium... the reaction is the same as for Rubidium with water (albeit somewhat less explosively.) | ||
