Separation of powers EZ.
I'm personally a big fan boy of independent judiciaries. Legislative oversight of the executive is pretty limited, especially if the incumbent executive party has a clear majority in the legislature.
edit: there, I used all my long words for today.

also separation of church and president(stupid US), the more separations the better.

IMO the authorities should be separated from one another. Which leads us to the model of the current western democracies which may not be the perfect form of governing people but, to quote W.Churchill, are as good as you can get. Period.
As much as I like communist ideas that is what they are - ideas on paper and not applicable for real. Cause they rely on the idea that people are going to be good to one another and everyone will have equal needs to everyone else, which is obviously not the case.
Anyway - nice poll!

I must be missing some deeper meaning to that quote since I don't see any western democracy as as good as you can get (alliteration intended?)

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
Marx never said that everyone would have the same needs. And the "communist" governments in the real world certainly never did.

Well, "as good as you can get" is more like what is possible for a sustainable form of government given human nature. In terms of that, the Western democractic systems are really not bad at all.

unitary executive has nothing to do with communism, in fact its an american idea...
george w. bush apparently is a big fan of it, it means TOTAL seperation of the powers, so legislative is not allowed to force laws onto the executive, rather to give tipps, the executive is free to do what ever it wants (until the next election)...
communist ideas have to be seperated from marx's ideas, later communist (lenin trotzki stalin etc.) pretty much defined what we think about communism, the writings of marx on the otherhand (though false on many subjects) still are readworthy as they give insight on the problems(marginalisation of the poor etc.) free markets(our markets today(i.e. since the ww2 are heavily controlled) give...
anyway thank u alot
